RAYMOND KERR

ASHLAND — Funeral service for Raymond Kerr, 79, will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Benefield Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Dan Keith and the Rev. Bruce Krause officiating. Burial will be in Clay County Memory Gardens with military honors.

Mr. Kerr died Aug. 30 at his residence. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army Air Corp. as a pilot. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving as captain of the U.S. Army signal Corp. stationed in Germany.

He was employed by General Dynamics Corp. for 26 years and later formed the Delphi Consulting Group and was worldwide consultant for Max Factor based in London and Mexico City.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Seton, Orval, Aaron and Donald Kerr.

He is survived by his wife, Jerrodene Wenman Kerr of Ashland; one daughter, Kristine Kerr Miller of Lineville; one son, Kevin Arthur Kerr of Delta; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Kerr, Lewis Miller, Robert Carpenter, Sherman Haynes, Joe Guzzo and Larry Roberson.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and Wednesday until service time.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Clay County Hospice.

Benefield Funeral Home will direct the service.

OPHA MAE OWENS

SYLACAUGA — Funeral service for Opha Mae Owens, 80, will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home chapel in Sylacauga with the Rev. Keith Owensby officiating. Burial will be in Blue Springs Cemetery.

Mrs. Owens died Aug. 31. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Owens. She attended Valley View Church of God.

She is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Mack and Linda Hamilton of Sylacauga, James and Cheryl Faye Mooney of St. Louis, Mo., Oliver and Carolyn Bailey of Deatsville and Jerry and Barbara Thornton of Sylacauga; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Ronald and Christine Owens of Deatsville, David and Donna Owens of Montgomery and Larry Wayne Owens of Deatsville; four sisters, Polly Wilson and Kat Busby of Claera, Lois McCaleb and Beulah Handley of Jasper; 23 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

Grandsons Scott Bailey, Jeff Hamilton, Ronnie Owens, Billy Bailey, Larry Owens and Jon Owens will be pallbearers.

Cliff Owens, Sean Owens and Tommy Owens will be honorary pallbearers.

Radney-Smith Funeral Home will direct the service.

BOBBY L. PRITCHARD

TALLADEGA — Funeral service for Bobby L. Pritchard, 65, will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Midway Memory Gardens Funeral Home chapel with Brother Harvey Bowlin Sr. officiating. Burial will be in Midway Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Mr. Pritchard died Aug. 31 at a Longview, Texas, hospital. He was a native of Lincoln and a Longview, Texas, resident. He served in the U.S. Army during peacetime and following his service to the Army, worked as a welder for the U. S. Department of Defense. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 42 in Talladega and was a member of the Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Clarence and Lillie Bell Box Pritchard; one daughter, Vanessa Victoria Pritchard; one brother, Billy Pritchard; and two sisters, Ernestine Taylor and Jean Scott.

He is survived by his wife, Gwen Pritchard of Longview; one daughter, Julia Hogue of Longview; two sons, Bobby Dale Pritchard of Talladega and Jeffrey Lynn Pritchard; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. Wednesday until service time at the funeral home.

Midway Memory Gardens will direct the service.

McCLINE RUSSELL

ALEXANDER CITY — Funeral service for McCline Russell, 74, of Alexander City will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Armour Memorial Funeral Home chapel in Alexander City with the Rev. Mary Ann Jones officiating. Burial will be in Darian Church Cemetery.

Mr. Russell died Aug. 29 at Baptist Medical Center Montclair in Birmingham.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Louise Russell of Alexander City; one son, Kenneth A. Russell of Youngstown, Ohio; one stepdaughter, Elizabeth Harris of Goodwater; five stepsons, Willie Frank Graham of Detroit, Mich., Jerry Hutchins of Colorado Springs, Colo., Thomas Hutchins of California, James Hutchins and Ricky Hutchins of Alexander City; three sisters, Maxine Russell Riggins of Alexander City, Frozine Clark of Mt. Vernon, N.Y., and Ida Mae Owens of Sylacauga; five brothers, John Thomas Russell of Youngstown, Ohio, Robert Russell of Mt. Vernon, N.Y., Roy Russell of New Site, Chafton Russell and Troy Russell of Alexander City; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Armour’s Memorial Funeral Home will direct the service.

J.D. TAYLOR

TALLADEGA — J.D. Taylor, 67, of 499 Ridge Lane, Talladega, died Sept. 1 at his residence.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Terry’s Metropolitan Mortuary.

JAMES ROBURE BATTLE SR.

ALPINE — Funeral service for James Robure Battle Sr., 95, of 3795 Glovers Ferry Road, will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at St. Campbell Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard Fair officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Battle died Aug. 30 at Talladega Health Care Center. He was a member of St. Campbell Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a deacon, a member of the senior choir and "Father of the Church." He was retired from Labor Local No. 559 and was a member of the Cheerful Givers Society. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mae Ola Brown; his parents, Franklin Battle and Ida Staples Battle; six sisters; and two brothers.

He is survived by daughter, Rebecca B. Garrett of Talladega; son, James Robure Battle Jr. of Alpine; and three grandchildren.

The body may be viewed at the church for one hour before the service.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary will direct the service.

WILLIS EDWARD HARRIS

PELL CITY — Funeral service for Willis Edward “Ed” Harris, 65, will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Kilgroe Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Bobby Parker and the Rev. Roger Conner officiating. Burial will be in St. Clair Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Harris died Aug. 31 at his residence. He was raised in Pell City and served in the U.S. Navy. Over the years, he had been a welder and the last few years he had his own welding shop in the Bessemer area.

He is survived by six sons, Michael W. Harris of Florida, Willie E. Harris Jr. of Bessemer, Ronnie Harris Hurst (Rita) of Pell City, Patrick E. Harris (fiancee Vicki) of Smithfield, N.C., Justin Harris and Morgan Harris of Hendersonville, N.C.; two sisters, Helen Starnes Smith (Charles) of Pell City and Bobbie Phillips (Alford) of Riverside; two grandsons, Nick and Tyler Harris Hurst; three granddaughters, Tiffany Harris Hurst, Taylor Harris and Kandis Harris; one uncle, Henry Adams (Aunt Helen) of Cedar Town, Ga.; mother-in-law, Loraine Parker (Granny); brother-in-law, B.W. Hobson (Linda) of Tuscaloosa; sister-in-law, Joann Branan; special friend, Wasif; special friend and care taker, Mac McGowan; four nieces and several great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Kilgroe Funeral Home will direct the service.

GEORGE TAYLOR CAPERTON JR.

WEOGUFKA — George Taylor Caperton Jr. died Sept. 1 at Medical Center East.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Curtis and Son Funeral Home South Chapel.

SHIRLEY FAYE DAVIS

SYLACAUGA — Funeral service for Shirley Faye Davis, 64, will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home chapel in Sylacauga. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Sylacauga.

Mrs. Davis died Aug. 31. She was married for 44 years.

She is survived by her husband, Michael L. Davis of Sylacauga; sons, Terry Davis of Tuscaloosa, Richard Davis of Alexander City and Randall Davis of Birmingham; brothers, Gordon Thomas of Brent and Floyd Thomas of Huntsville; sisters, Nellie Peak of Brent and Louise Warner of Montgomery; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

HOWARD CLARENCE DELOACH

CHILDERSBURG — Funeral service for Howard Clarence Deloach, 92, will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Mt. Sharon Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Johnson and the Rev. Cleo Garrett officiating. Burial will be in Kahatchie Cemetery.

Mr. Deloach died Sept. 1 at Carraway Methodist Medical Center. He was the oldest living member of Mt. Sharon Baptist Church and served as a deacon. He was preceded in death by a son, Albert Joel Deloach; sisters, Nell Gray Burton and Louise Deloach; brothers, Harry Deloach, Albert Junior Deloach and Bobby Deloach; and grandson, Phillip Anthony Green.

He is survived by his wife, Mary J. Deloach of Childersburg; son, Jim Deloach of Childersburg; daughter, Ruth Green of Childersburg; sister, Ellon Gandy of Sylacauga; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The body may be viewed at the church for one hour before the service.

Pallbearers will be James Douglas Deloach Jr., Kerry Deloach, Richard Joyner, David Giordano, Jeff Green, Tim Green, Nathan Green and Johnathan Green.

Great-grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Curtis and Son Funeral Home South Chapel will direct the service.

ESTA MAE FLOYD

MONTGOMERY — Funeral service for Esta Mae Floyd, 76, will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Kilgroe Funeral Home chapel in Pell City with the Rev. Jimmy Davis officiating. Burial will be in Coosa Valley Cemetery.

Mrs. Floyd died Sept. 1 at Baptist Medical Center South. She was a native of Cropwell and had lived in Montgomery since 1959. She was known by her family for her good cooking and canning abilities. She was a member of Yarbrough Street Baptist Church in Montgomery and was preceded in death by three children, Betty Barnes, Paul Blake Jr. and Ronnie Blake.

She is survived by her husband, Parker Floyd; sons, Dennis Blake of Montgomery and James Floyd Jr. (Josey) of Dothan; daughters, Helen Forbus (A.C.) of Jacksonville, Fla., Barbara Grier (Lonnie) of Deatsville, Edna Berdeaux of Montgomery, Martha Avant (Don) of Troy and Linda Blake of Momtgomery; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; brothers, Jimmy Bishop of Montgomery, Tommy Bishop of Prattville, Dolphus Bishop of Birmingham and Auby Barker of Pell City; and sisters, Ruby Wilkerson of Jacksonville, Mary Foley of Wetumpka, Carolyn Williams of Oxford and Brenda Cruise of Lincoln.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10 until 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Greg Foley, Brian Bishop, Tommy Bishop, Dale Blake, Randy Foley Jr. and Chester Foley Jr.

Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City will direct the service.
