Burial will follow at Popwell cemetery in Clanton, with Martin Funeral Home directing. Lucas was born on Aug. 17, 1953, in Chilton County, the son of the late Arthur Earl Lucas and the late Pearl Lucas. He worked in construction. He died at his residence on Oct. 2, 2001. Survivors include one daughter, Brandi (David) Little, Clanton; one granddaughter, Haley Little, Clanton; and four sisters, Edna Dale, Joyce Crumpton, and Patsy Fulmer, all of Clanton, and Kathy Ormes, Florida.

Luker, John Harold 'Bill'
June 18, 1934 - April 17, 1998
Funeral services for John (Bill) Harold Luker, 63, of Maplesville were April 19, 1998, at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ralph Jones and Rev. Willard Ratliff officiating. Burial was in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Maplesville with Martin Funeral Home directing. Mr. Luker was born June 18, 1934, in Alabama to the late Lee D. and Letha Luker. He worked as a farmer. He died April 17, 1998, at his residence in Maplesville. He is survived by his wife, Carol Luker of Maplesville; a son, Johnny Luker of Montgomery; four daughters Lithia Lawrence of Maplesville; Tammy Edwards and April Mims, both of Clanton, and Sherry Green of Maplesville; a sister Marion Etheridge of Saraland; a step-daughter, Betty Brasher of Maplesville; five step-sons: Billy Henderson of Montgomery, Timmy Sledge of Prattville, Stanley Roper and Randy Roper, both of Maplesville and Kenny Roper of Clanton; and 22 grandchildren.

Thompson, Feraby Ida Jane Maddox
September 11, 1878 - January 17, 1926
Mrs. Ida Thompson, age 48, Wife of James Arthur Thompson of Concord died at her home Monday afternoon of Flu and Pneumonia. Burial was at Concord. She was a Sister of Joe and Walter Maddox. Leaves Husband and 2 Children, Bernie Thompson of Birmingham, and Mrs. George Tippett of Clanton.

Boockholdt, Hazel Hesteranne Maddox
June 25, 1912 - April 25, 2002
Funeral services for Hazel M. Boockholdt, 89, Clanton, will be held at Clanton First Baptist Church on Saturday, April 27, 2002, at 11 a.m. with Dr. Larry Michael officiating. Burial will follow at Chilton Memorial Gardens, with Martin Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be held at Martin Funeral Home on Friday, April 26, 2002, from 6-8 p.m. Boockholdt was born on June 25, 1912, in Chilton County, the daughter of the late Alex Maddox and the late Lillie Maddox. She was a school teacher. She died on April 25, 2002, at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster. Survivors include one son, Jimmy Boockholdt, Birmingham, one daughter-in-law, Angela Boockholdt, Birmingham; one brother, S. E. Maddox, Jemison; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Boockholdt.

Collins, Lettie Maddox Thornburg

Services for Lettie Thornburg Collins, 95, of Thorsby, were September 2 at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Von McQueen officiating. She was buried in the Thorsby Memorial Cemetery. Collins died August 31 in Clanton. Survivors include her daughters, Dorothy Barrett of Thorsby and Janice Richards of Arlington, TX; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Wilbur Collins.

Maddox, Mary Ethel Bradford

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Ethel Maddox, 90, of Covington, Georgia, were held on Saturday, May 23 at Martin Funeral home Chapel with Rev. Roland Davis officiating. Burial was at Liberty Hill Baptist Church on Sunday, May 24. She died on May 22, at Riverside Health Care in Covington, Georgia. Mrs. Maddox was born in Chilton County on January 13, 1908 to Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Joseph Bradford. She is survived by on son; Mr. Maurice Maddox of Porterdale, Georgia; three sisters, Mrs. Vera Matheny of LaGrange, Georgia, Mrs. Lena Davidson of Forston, Georgia, Mrs. Ruth Duck of Opelika; one brother Samuel J. Bradford of Fresno, California; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. she was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Marvin Maddox.

Funeral services for Melvie Maddox, 85, of Jemison were Jan. 31, 1999, at Pates Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Randall Mims officiating. Burial was in Pates Chapel Baptist cemetery in Jemison with Martin Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Maddox was born June 28, 1913 in Alabama to the late Millard Filmore and Emily Childress. She was a homemaker. She died Jan. 29, 1999, at Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham. She is survived by two daughters, Louise M. Franklin of Birmingham and Mary Ruth Lowery of Jemison; a brother, Lee Childress of Clanton; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

She was buried at Martin Memorial Cemetery, with Martin Funeral Home directing. She was born in Alabama on July 16, 1904 to the late Lillie Hays Bean and H. O. Bean. She died on Jan. 5, 2001 at West Houston Medical Center. She was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star and an active member of the Mary Echols Chapter #125 in Birmingham for 50 years. She was a licensed beautician for 40 years. She is survived by a daughter, Myrtice graham of Houston, Texas and a sister, Willodean Price of Birmingham.

Funeral services for Ulmer Lee "Bud" Maddox, 84, Clanton, were held at Refuge Baptist Church on Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002, at 1 p.m. with Rev. Charles Brooks, Rev. Barney Mims, Rev. Tim Scott, and Rev. James Cleckler officiating. Burial followed at Refuge Baptist cemetery in Clanton, with Martin Funeral Home directing. Maddox was born on Feb. 15, 1917, in Chilton County, the son of the late Tommy Lee Maddox and the late Rosie Lee Wyatt Maddox. He was a farmer. He died on Feb. 1, 2002, at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster. Survivors include his wife, Sadie A. Maddox, Clanton; two daughters, Mary Esther Minor and Judy Adams, both of Clanton; two sons, John David Maddox and Warren Reed Maddox; both of Clanton; two sisters, Katherine Blackmon and Peggy Cleckler, both of Clanton; one brother, Thomas Wayne Maddox, Clanton; 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Burial was in Chilton Memorial Gardens in Clanton with Martin Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Williamson was born Aug. 12, 1911, in Chilton County to the late Tommie and Rosa Lee Maddox. She worked as a store owner. She died July 22, 1998, at her residence in Clanton. She is survived by a daughter, Kay Wade of Clanton; two brothers: U. L. "Bud" Maddox and Wayne Maddox, both of Clanton; three sisters: Inez Moore of Verbena and Kathleen Blackmon and Peggy Cleckler, both of Clanton; and one grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Williamson.

Mahan, John Arkie

John Arkie Mahan, age 67, Clanton Business Man was killed and Albert Pounds, age 40, suffered a severe head injury on Highway 22, 13 miles East of Clanton Thursday afternoon when the brakes failed on the heavily loaded lumber truck in which they were riding. Mr. Mahan has been in the Lumber Business some years. He is survived by his wife, 2 Sons, Ludy and Roy D., 1 daughter, 2 Brothers, and 2 Sisters. Burial Clanton City Cemetery.

Maners, Clanton; two sons, Raybon Rushing and Wendel Maners, Both of Clanton; one daughter Shirley Wright, Clanton; three sisters, Faye Jacks, Emma Staggs, and Lollie Kelley, all of Clanton; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and tree great-great-grandchildren.
