Funeral services for Grady Lee Hudman, 81 and a resident of Clanton, will be held today, May 13, 2001 at 3 p.m. at Floyd Baptist Church with Rev. Jack Drinkwater, Rev. Frank Nelson and Rev. Ray Smitherman officiating. Interment will follow at Floyd Baptist Cemetery. Born on Sept. 17, 1919, he was the son of the late John Hudman and Clara Hudman. A farmer, he died on May 12, 2001 at his residence. He is survived by his wife, Lillie Mae Hudman of Clanton; five daughters, Jessie Johnson of Vancouver, Wash., Catherine Golden, Dorothy Adams and Barbara Davis, all of Clanton, and Patricia Anderson of Selma; two brothers, Raymond Hudman and Sidney Hudman, both of Clanton; four sisters, Lorina Rowell, Floree Williams and Nellie Newman, all of Montgomery, and Margie Dennis of Bay Minette, Ala.; two son-in-laws, Gary Johnson of Vancouver, Wash., and Ernie Davis of Clanton; 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Dovie Jeanette, 61, Clanton, for Dovie Jeanette Hudman will be held at Floyd Baptist Church on Tuesday, April 24, 2001, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jack Drinkwater, Rev. Ray Smitherman, and Rev. Frank Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at Floyd Baptist Cemetery, with Martin Funeral Home directing. Hudman was born in Autauga Coutny on March 10, 1940, the daughter of the late Guy A. Hughey and the late Amanda Ida Hughey. She was a homemaker. She died on April 22, 2001, at Jackson Hospital in Montgomery. Survivors include her husband, Sidney J. Hudman, Clanton; one daughter, Connie Hudman, Clanton; and one sister, Janie Trammel, Verbena.

Huff, Emmett B.

Funeral services for Emmett B. 'E. B.' Huff, 85 of Stanton will be held on Saturday, April 19, 1997 at 11 a.m. at the graveside of the Ebenezer Baptist cemetery in Stanton, Ala., with the Reverend Aubrey Wallace officiating and the Martin Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be held at the Martin Chapel on Friday, April 18 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Mr. Huff was born in Chilton County on April 6, 1912 to the late Emmett and Velma Bledso Huff. He died at the Four Rivers Medical Center in Selma on April 17, 1997. He is survived by a daughter, son, daughter-in-law and son-in-law, Laura Harrison, Stanton; Emmett and Mary Clyde Huff, Clanton; Richard Harrison, Stanton; three brothers and two sisters, Ira Huff, Montgomery; O. B. Huff, Stanton; Willard Huff, Selma, Annice Burnett, Opelika; Carrie Hilman, Selma; two granddaughters and three grandsons, Sharon Harrison, Noel Harrison and Hal Harrison, Stanton; Jennifer Huff and Andy Huff, Clanton.

Hull, William Durward

Funeral services for William Durward Hull, 71, of Clanton, were held Saturday, Sept 6, 1997, at 11 a.m., at Martin Chapel with Reverend Ralph Jones, Mr. Bernie Mims and Mr. Charles Wilhite officiating. Burial was held at Cedar Hill cemetery in Bessemer at 1 p.m., with Martin Funeral Home directing. Mr. Hull was born in Bibb County on Jan. 6, 1926, to the late William Henry Hull and the late Beulah Meeks Hull. A veteran of the United States Navy during World War II, Mr. Hull served as a deacon at Concord Baptist Church and a member of Masonic Lodge in Clanton and Flint Hill, Ala. He was also a member of Gideons International, retied from U.S. Steel in Fairfield, Ala., and owner of W. D. Mold and Nina's Mud Hut Ceramics. He died at Shelby Medical Center on Sept. 4, 1997 and is survived by his wife Nina Lee Hull of Clanton; three daughters, Rebecca L. Wallace of Destin, Fla., Sandra G. Vick of Greensboro, Ala., and Patricia Madrid of Denver, Colo; and five grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to Gideons, P.O. Box 1744 in Clanton.

Jackson, Edna Lee

Funeral services for Edna Lee Jackson, 77, Clanton, will be held at Bethel Primitive Baptist Church on Thursday, Sept. 28, 2000, at 11 a.m. with Elder C. E. Tucker officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Primitive Baptist Church cemetery in Clanton, with Martin Funeral Home officiating. Visitation will be held at Martin Funeral Home on Wednesday, Sept 27, 2000, from 5-8 p.m. Jackson was born on March 12, 1923, in Chilton County, the daughter of the late Ollie E. and Myrtis Lee Blalock. She was a secretary. She died on Sept 26, 2000, at her residence. Survivors include two brothers, Charles W. Knowles, Wilkesboro, N.C., and Bill F. Knowles, Clanton; and two sisters, Myrtis Williams, Clanton, and Betty Jo Billingsley, Columbia, S.C. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Ray Jackson.

Jackson, James Edwin

Funeral services for James Edwin Jackson, 59 and a resident of Jemison, will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2000 at 10 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Scott Thomas officiating. Interment will follow at New Harmony cemetery in Clanton. Born on Aug. 2, 1941, he was the son of the late Winford Mitchell Jackson and the Late Myrtle Villa White Jackson. A bus driver, he died on Oct. 15, 2000 at Roane Medical Center in Harriman, Tenn. He is survived by his wife, Glenda G. Jackson of Jemison; two daughters, Vickki Winslett of Jemison and Tammie Jackson-Basseghi of Hoover; two sons, James Mitchell Jackson of Jemison and Gary W. Jackson of Jemison; and seven grandchildren.

Dr. Arthur Johnson died last Thursday. He was born in Clanton 2-17-1888, Son of Dr. Sam Johnson, a Pioneer Resident of Chilton County. In 1910 he married Miss Mable Hall of Owensville, Indiana, and his survivors are his Wife, 2 Sons, Arthur, Jr. age 21, Medical Student University of Ala., Joe Hall Student at Gulf Coast Military Academy, 2 Brothers, Dr. N. S. Johnson of Clanton, Dr. Sam Johnson of Pensacola, Fla. One Sister, Mrs. J. Earle Gowan, of Clanton. He died of Pneumonia. Burial was in Clanton City Cemetery.

Funeral services for Barbara Ann Johnson, 55, of Clanton are today, March 20, 1998, at 11 a.m. at Maplesville Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Gatlin officiating. Burial is in Maplesville cemetery with Martin Funeral Home directing. Ms. Johnson was born Aug. 11, 1942, in Alabama to Lovenia G. Johnson and the late Arthur M. Johnson. She worked as a school teacher. She died March 16, 1998, at the Kirklin Clinic in Birmingham. In addition to her mother, she is survived by three sisters: Arthel Jones of Mobile, Linda Silas of Clanton an Peggy Lenoir of Maplesville; and two brothers: Jimmy Johnson of McCalla and Joe Johnson of Phoenix, Arizona.

Burial will follow at Walnut Creek United Methodist Church. Johnson was born on Feb. 16, 1910, in Chilton County, the daughter of James Lewis Easterling and Mahalia Baker Easterling. She died on Friday, July 12, 2002 at Hatley Health Care in Clanton. Survivors include daughters Mable Jean Bates and Geraldine Nelson of Clanton and Doris Dean Giles of Greenville, S. C.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Johnson was born on March 11, 2002, in Alabama, the son of the late Charlie Moore Johnson and the late Annie Laura Johnson. He was a log truck driver. He died on Feb. 9, 2002, at Vaughn Regional/Dallas Campus in Selma. Survivors include his wife, Betty H. Johnson, Plantersville; one son, Charlie (Jeanice) Johnson, Maplesville; one granddaughter, Amanda J. Johnson, Napoleon Strock, M.D.

Dr. Napoleon Strock Johnson, Oldest Son of Joseph Samuel and Sallie Elizabeth Strock Johnson, Jr. who was one of the first physicians in Clanton. Began Practice of Medicine in Clanton at age 18 and practiced for 39 years. In 1901 he married Miss Lillian Goldthorpe of Mobile but no Children were born to this union. Mrs. Lillian Johnson died 1904. On Sept 6, 1905, he married Miss Escharles Stewart, Daughter of William Eugene and Sally Adams Stewart, a medical Doctor in Clanton. Dr. Johnson is survived by his Wife, 6 Daughters, Mrs. Norman Roberts, Alee Stewart, and Myra Johnson of Clanton, Priscilla Johnson of Montgomery, Mrs. Sim S. Williams of Deatsville, Mrs. Jean McCraney of Opelika, one Son, Joseph Samuel, 1 Sister, Mrs. J. E. Gowan, one Bro., Samuel E. Johnson of the U.S. Navy. Burial was in the Clanton City Cemetery. He was born 8-14-1883, and died 8-30-1940.

Rufus King Johnson, age 67, died at Clanton Monday. Burial was at Verbena Cemetery. He is survived by 1 Brother, Will Johnson, 2 Sisters, Mrs. Lillie Mae Williams and Mrs. Emma Scott of Verbena. He was born and reared in Autauga County the Son of the Late W. Smith Johnson and Tabitha Jane Price Johnson, both immigrants from South Carolina.
