Andrew Jackson Dennis, known as "Ander" died, age 79, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. M.D. Dennis in the Highland Community Sat. He died suddenly. Burial was at Samaria. He is survived by several Children and by several Brothers and sisters. He was born in Coosa County in 1860, the Son of James Madison and Mary Hardy Dennis.

Funeral services for Archie Lee Dennis, 85, of Verbena were March 30, 1998, at Bethsalem Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Smith officiating. Burial was in Bethsalem Baptist cemetery with Martin Funeral Home directing. Mr. Dennis was born Aug. 3, 1912 in Alabama to the late Joe C. and Emma Dennis. He worked as a farmer. He died March 27, 1998, at Jackson Hospital in Montgomery. He is survived by his wife, Emma Dean Dennis of Verbena; a son, Byron Dennis of Montgomery; a daughter, Doris Ball of Verbena; three brothers: George A. and Julian E. Dennis, both of Montgomery, and Arthur W. Dennis of Cullman; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Clara Mae Dennis of Montgomery; his daughter, Teresa D. Zabel of Mobile; and his sister, Diane D. Wheeler of Jackson Gap. He was preceded in death by his father, Aaron C. Dennis and his mother, Myrtle Marie Dennis.

He was a mechanic and car man. He died on July 18, 2001. Survivors included his wife, Geraldine Harrison, Thorsby; two sons, Ronnie (Brenda) Gause, Montgomery, and Earl Hamm, Thorsby; three daughters, Mary Jo (Donald) Smith, Marbury, Vivian (Nelson) Wallace and Kim (William) Reynolds, both of Thorsby; Odean Harrison, Stanton, and P.E. Harrison, Randolph; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services for Mr. Jimmie T. Harrison, Sr., 85, of Maplesville, were held yesterday at 11 a.m. at Hillcrest Baptist Church, in Maplesville, with the Rev. Alvin Porter, and the Rev. Mr. Harrison, a farmer, born in Alabama on January 5, 1914 to the late Tyler and Lelia Harrison, died on June 3 at Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Lorene Harrison. He is survived by two sons; Jimmie Harrison, Jr., and Jerry Harrison, both of Maplesville, three daughters; Carolyn Brown, of Montgomery, Charlotte Lenoir, of Freeport, Fla., and Eugene Faye Speirs, one sister; Florence Cranmore of Selma, 15 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Hathcock. He was a farmer and was in the U.S. Air Force from Dec. 5, 1945 until Nov. 26, 1946. He died at his residence on Nov. 3, 1999. Survivors include his wife, Gertrude P. Hathcock, Northport; one step-daughter; one sister Frances Mae Buldger, Prattville; and two brothers, Grady Hathcock, Tuscaloosa, and Eugene Hathcock, Montevallo.

Funeral services were held Friday, April 19th, at 3:00 p.m. at Samaria Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. J. D. Thacker officiating.; Martin in charge. Survivors include: one son, Dewey Dennis of Clanton; three daughters, Mrs. Rena Burnett of Wetumpka, Mrs. Leila Driver of Birmingham, and Mrs. Elsie Rollan of Prattville; one brother, Mr. Byron Dennis of Maryland; two sisters, Mrs. Eva Battett of Clanton, and Mrs. Oddie Lee Pollock of Georgia; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren. Native of Coosa County, he was a son of Aaron Dennis and Lula Dorman Dennis.

Dennis, William Eugene 'Billy'

Maplesville Mayor Billy Dennis died Wednesday in a Birmingham hospital after a lengthy illness. He was 63. Mayor Dennis filled three years of the term of Mayor Aubrey Morrison after Morrison's death in October 1985. He easily won re-election to his office in 1988. Mayor Dennis was a lifelong Maplesville resident. He was a rural letter carrier for the United States Post Office starting in 1949. He retired in 1980. He was chairman of the deacons of the Maplesville Baptist Church and was involved in church activities for many years. He was a Mason, a member of the Disabled American Veterans and a member of the Maplesville volunteer fire and rescue squad. He is survived by his wife, Blanche Dennis of Maplesville; his son Jeff Dennis of Maplesville; three daughters, Jean Dennis Brown of Spartanburg, S.C., Diane Dennis Sayler of Atmore, and Susan Dennis Wyatt of Russellville; and several grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 till 8 p.m. Thursday at Martin Funeral Home in Clanton. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Maplesville Baptist Church with the Rev. Ron Gatlin and the Rev. Art Hartley officiating. The body will lie in state from 1-2 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Maplesville with Martin Funeral Home of Clanton directing.
Dennis, Wilson
Dennis, Wilson, age 82, died at the home at Mt. Creek last Wednesday afternoon, December 16th at 7:45 o'clock. Services were held at the Highway 31 Church of God, Marbury, Friday morning at 11 o'clock; interment at the Canaan Cemetery, Spigener in charge of arrangements. Services were conducted by Rev. Horace Headley, nephews served as pallbearers. The wife Mrs. Edith Dennis survives as well as one brother, Sam Dennis of Columbus, Ga. There are several nieces and nephews.

She was as store clerk. She died on March 3, 2000, at Chilton Medical Center in Clanton. Survivors include one daughter, Patricia Reynolds, Clanton; one sister, Louise Williams Langston, Clanton; three brothers, Billy Griffin, Demopolis, Don Griffin, Florida; and Durwood Griffin, Clanton; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Prayton DeRamus, age 19, died at local hospital following an operation for Appendicitis Wednesday. Burial was at Ebenezer cemetery at Stanton. He was member of the Clanton CCC Camp. DeVaughn was born on Nov. 1, 1926, in Alabama, the son of the late Elijah Hardy Devaughn and the late Dora DeVaughn. He was a prison guard and served in the Army from April 19, 1946 to May 20, 1946. He died on Oct. 13, 2001, at Chilton Medical Center in Clanton. Survivors include his wife, Mildred L. DeVaughn, Clanton; one daughter, Rita Traylor, Pensacola, Fla.; one son, Marty DeVaughn, Alabaster; one sister, Lena Henley, Clanton; two granddaughters, Brandi DeVaughn and Georgia Brook Tucker; and one grandson, Travis Tucker.
