Funeral services for Marvin William Lyles, 73, of Enterprise were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003 at the chapel of Searcy Funeral Home with the Rev. Howard Moore officiating.
Burial followed at Meadowlawn cemetery with Searcy Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Lyles died Sunday, Oct. 12, 2003 at Medical Center Enterprise. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Green and Verdie Pearl (Swindle) Lyles; and a son-in-law, Eddie Spann.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Stanford Lyles of Enterprise; a daughter, Susan Lyles Spann of Enterprise; a son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Sharon Lyles of Enterprise; seven grandchildren, Tammy Hughes Whigham, Kim (Jeff) Reeves, Joseph and Jordan Lyles, Liz (Chris) Sanders, Christy (Paul) Strops, Mark (Cherie) Spann, all of Enterprise; six great-grandchildren, Cassidy Reeves, Seth Whigham, Brandon Sanders, Whitney Strops, Daniel and Taylar Spann; a sister, Mafried Lyles Orrell of Holcomb, Miss.; several sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.
MAGGIE ROBERTS
Funeral services for Maggie Roberts, 92, of Ozark were at Greater Sardis Missionary Baptist Church in Ozark with Dr. S.C. Jackson officiating.
Burial followed in Westside cemetery in Ozark with Coleman Funeral Home in Elba directing.
Mrs. Roberts died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003 at home.
MARY ETHEL SASSER
Funeral services for Mary Ethel Sasser, 49, of Daleville were at 11 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, 2003 at Daleville Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Jim Smith officiating.
Burial followed in Newton City cemetery with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark directing.
Mrs. Sasser died Thursday morning, Oct. 9, 2003 at home. She was born Aug. 9, 1954 in Enterprise, the daughter of the late Charles W. Shirley Sr. and Elizabeth Durden Shirley. She was a member of the Daleville Assembly of God Church where she taught Sunday School for 20 years. She was employed with Enterprise Nursing Home until she became disabled.
Survivors include her husband, Floyd Eugene Sasser of Daleville; her mother, Elizabeth Shirley of Daleville; one sister and brother-in-law, Betty Jo and Randy Christian of Daleville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles W. and Patricia Shirley Jr. of Daleville and Scotty B. and Jackie Shirley of Level Plains; four nieces, Tiffany Shirley, Amber Adams, Sierra Lindsey and Casey Geist; four nephews, Charles Shirley III, Corey Adams, Jacob Shirley, and Tyler Shirley; and several aunts, uncles and other relatives.

JOHN BURNETT
Funeral services for John Burnett, 84, of Andalusia were at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003 at Springhill Missionary Baptist Church, Dozier.
Burial followed in Marshall Memorial Cemetery, Andalusia with Coleman Funeral Home in Elba directing.
Mr. Burnett died Monday, Sept. 29, 2003 at Opp Health and Rehabilitation Center..
W.G. MERCER
Funeral services for W.G. Mercer, 69, of Enterprise were at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5, 2003 at the chapel of Searcy Funeral Home with the Rev. Chad Corbin officiating.
Burial followed in Meadowlawn cemetery with Searcy Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Mercer died Friday, Oct. 3, 2003 at Flowers Hospital in Dothan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Corbin Mercer.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Vivian and Morris Moore of Enterprise; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Gerald Mercer and Farrial and Teresa Mercer, all of Enterprise; two sisters, Magdalene Walsingham of Lynn Haven, Fla., and Carol Obert of Chipley, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Christy Grimes, Ashely and Stacey Moore, Jason and Mandy Mercer and Nikki and Chase Mercer; and one great-grandchild, Hunter Moore.
CHARLIE N. LOCKLAR
Funeral services for Charlie Nathan Locklar, 95, of New Brockton were at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 27, 2006, at First Baptist Church of New Brockton with the Revs. Chad Hixson and Robert Creel officiating.
Burial followed in New Brockton City cemetery with Searcy Funeral Home directing.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church of New Brockton.
Mr. Locklar died on Thursday, May 25, at Medical Center Enterprise. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois D. Locklar and also several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include a daughter, Pat Clark (Henry) of Elba; a son, Ned Locklar of Enterprise; four grandchildren, Steve Locklar of New Brockton, David Locklar (Stacy) of Enterprise, Dowe Clark and Lori C. Logan (Rob) all of Elba; one great-grandchild, Clark Logan of Elba; one step great-grandchild, Victoria Olson of Enterprise; and several nieces and nephews.
CHARLES (Chuck) KURT MCGILL
Charles (Chuck) McGill, 61, of El Paso, Texas, loving father and exemplary grandfather, passed away on Feb. 9, 2011.
The family received friends on Saturday, Feb. 12. Funeral services were at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 13, at Sunset Funeral Home - West, in El Paso.
Chuck was born in Tuscaloosa on May 31, 1949. He grew up in Opp and graduated from Opp High School in 1967. Chuck played football at Livingston University and graduated with a degree in accounting and finance. After graduation, he worked with Conagra in Decatur. Later, he and his family were transferred to Georgia, Arkansas, and El Paso, where he eventually began his own wholesale food distribution company. Later he moved to Dothan and lived there for nine years before returning to El Paso, where he and son Todd were in business together.
Chuck was a loving father of two children and adoring grandfather of three. He was proud of his extended family, keeping current with all their activities and accomplishments. He was an avid golfer, long time fan of Alabama football and basketball, and UTEP basketball. He enjoyed "singing along" to music of the 60s and 70s. He had a passion for the study and discussion of politics and history. Chuck was a great listener and was genuinely interested in others. He was comfortable with people from all walks of life and adept at engaging them in conversations about themselves. He gave jobs to UTEP students and supported the Home for Battered Women, in El Paso. Chuck's all-time favorite gift was Jimmy Flower's boiled peanuts, from Opp.
Chuck had great respect for, and interest in the people, history, and culture of El Paso. This includes the beautiful desert mountains, wide-open spaces, no grass to cut, no flies or mosquitoes, and the fact you could play golf or exercise in excessive temperature and not perspire. He was a humorous, witty, and caring man. Every day of Chuck's life was spent trying to better the lives of all those he cared for and loved. He will be tremendously missed by all who knew him.
Chuck was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Lillian McGill, of Opp. He is survived by his son, Todd McGill; daughter Christy; three adoring grandchildren, Blake, Jordan, and Amya; the mother of his children and devoted friend, Martha McGill; one very special brother, Bart (Judith) McGill; niece, Eloisa; nephews, Bartley and Josh, all of El Paso.
He is also survived by two loving sisters, Jean (Jim) Harrelson and Jan (John) Tomberlin of Enterprise; nephews, Rick (Connie) Harrelson of Enterprise, Russ (Paige) Harrelson of Decatur and John (Erin) Tomberlin of Orlando, Fla.; nieces, Robyn (Allen) Bryan of Enterprise, Maegan (Matt) Brecher of Decatur, Maribeth (Manny) Andino of Birmingham, Molly Tomberlin of Tallahassee, Fla.; and six great-nieces, and three great-nephews.

ROGERS JACKSON TOMLINSON
Funeral services for Rogers Jackson Tomlinson, 63, of New Brockton were at 11 a.m. Friday at Calvary Baptist Church cemetery with the Rev. Don Downs officiating.
Burial followed with Patterson-Sorrells Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Tomlinson died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003 at home after a brief illness. He was born Sept. 27, 1940 in Sarasota, Fla. He had lived in the New Brockton community for a number of years. Because of his talent in art, he was awarded a scholarship to attend the Academy of Arts in San Francisco, Calif.
Survivors include his mother, Alice J. Insua of New Brockton; one daughter, Sara Rosen of Boston, Mass.; two sisters, Sandra Jackson of New Brockton and Sandra Rodriquez, Fla.; two brothers, Leonard Insua Jr. and Tony Insua both of Florida; and niece and nephew, Tamara Campbell and Randal Jackson.
TERRI JEAN GOODSON MCDUFFIE
Funeral services for Terri Jean Goodson McDuffie of Enterprise were at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, 2003 at the chapel of Searcy Funeral Home with the Rev. David Cloud officiating and Searcy Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. McDuffie died Friday, Oct. 10, 2003 at home. Mrs. McDuffie's father was a career soldier and she attended many different schools and graduated from Enterprise High School in 1968. She married
her husband in 1970, an they had one child. She was a dedicated nurse who loved her profession and devoted 30 years to it. She worked in a variety of capacities in her profession ranging from office nurse to administration. Unfortunately health issues forced her retirement three years ago. Her zest for life, love of all God's creatures and love for her flower garden will be sorely missed by all. She was truly a blessing to those people who were put in her life. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Melvin and Christine Goodson; and an older sister, Brenda R. Goodson.
Survivors include her husband of 33 years, Walter J. McDuffie of Enterprise; one son and his wife, Drew and Camelia McDuffie and their daughter, Reagan of Birmingham; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Pam and Gary McDaniel of Enterprise and Kim Caro of Phenix City; and several nieces and nephews and other relatives.
DIANE WARREN
Memorial services for Diane Warren, 71, of Daleville, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 4, 2006 at the First United Methodist Church of Daleville with the Rev. Terry Glover officiating.
Flowers will be accepted.
Arrangements were handled by Southern Heritage Funeral Home & Crematory in Dothan.
Mrs. Warren died Saturday evening, May 27, 2006 at Flowers Hospital. She was born July 17, 1934, to Buster Harvey Cryer and Florence Evelyn Cryer in Paso Robles, Calif. She traveled the world with her military husband and was involved in the Wives Clubs, Bridge Clubs and she also enjoyed bowling. Mrs. Warren was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Leonard Warren of Daleville; daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Roy Hines of Dallas, Texas; three sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and ReNee Warren of California, Dale and Phyllis Warren of Daleville and Tim and Karen Warren of Newton; 12 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; sister, Claudia Henry of Tulsa, Okla.; and two brothers, Douglas Cryer and Clayton Cryer, both of Edgewood, N.M.
SAM HUI KANG
Funeral services for Sam Hui Kang, 58, of Daleville were at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 3, 2006, at the chapel of Searcy Funeral Home with the Rev. David Park officiating.
Burial followed in the Korean Baptist Church cemetery with Searcy Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Kang died Tuesday, May 30, 2006 at his home in Daleville.
Survivors include his wife, Chun Cha Kang of Daleville; three daughters, Veronica Barr of Columbus, Ohio, Karen Ruddock of New York, N.Y., and Diane Golden and her husband, Paul of Albany, Ga.; three sons, Scott Ruddock and his wife, Leah, and James Ruddock, all of Daleville and Greg Ruddock of Kennesaw, Ga.; one sister; one brother; and nine grandchildren.
MICHAEL TRUCHON
Funeral services for Chief Warrant Officer 3 (Ret.) Michael Truchon of Bellwood will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 10, 2006 at St. John Catholic Church with Father Jim Dane officiating.
Burial with full military honors will follow in Meadowlawn cemetery with Patterson-Sorrels Funeral Home directing.
The family will receive friends Friday, June 9 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. A rosary will be said at 7:30 PM.
Mr. Truchon, 74, passed away Friday, June 2, 2006 at U.T. Medical Center in Knoxville, Tenn.
He was born in Shickshinny, Pa. to the late John Truchon and Mary Kevish Truchon. He served our country in United States Army for 20 years, serving two tours in Korea and two tours in Viet Nam.
Survivors include his wife, Rose Truchon of Bellwood; his mother, Mary Truchon of Shickshinny; one son, David Truchon of Austin, Texas; two daughters, Tina Truchon and Michele Phillips (Jimmy) of Bellwood; one brother, George Truchon of Shickshinny; two sisters, Irene Wilcox of Clifton, N.J., and Helen Meany of West Milford, N.J.; two grandchildren, Brad Phillips and Kristina Phillips of Bellwood.
