11-18-2005

Services for Marlon Waters Bailey, 70, of Oxford, were at 1 p.m. Nov. 14 at Brown & Kughn Memory Chapel. Rev. Ralph Barrow and Rev. Tim Bailey officiated. Burial was in Anniston Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Bailey died Nov. 12 in Anniston.

Survivors include his wife, Lillie D. Bailey of Oxford; a daughter and son-in-law, Angela and David Matthews of McDonough, Ga.; a son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Tim and Sarah Bailey of Moody; three sisters, Mildred Johnson of Jacksonville, Estelle Whatley of Oxford and Jewell Ruth Poole of Suwanne, Ga.; a brother and sister-in-law, Victor and Ruth Bailey of Woodland; and five grandchildren, Chase Bailey, Justin Bailey, Molly Bailey, Bailey Matthews and Trey Matthews.

His parents, Thomas and Amelia Bailey; a brother, George Thomas Bailey; and two sisters, Myrtice Johnson and Kathryn Thomas preceded Mr. Bailey in death.

Pallbearers were Danny Johnson, Mike Whatley, Jon Bailey, David Burford, Jarrod Plunkett and Bobby Miller.

Honorary pallbearers were The Business Men Sunday School Class of Oxford First United Methodist Church.

Mr. Bailey was the owner of Anniston Cabinet Shop for 42 years. He retired in July 2004. He was a member of the Homebuilders Association and Oxford First United Methodist Church.

COUCH
11-18-2005

Services for Crawford Franklin Couch, 87, were at 11 a.m. Nov. 11 in the chapel of K. L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Rev. Darrin Whorton officiating.

Mr. Couch died Nov. 8 at his residence.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy A. Couch; two sons, Jimmie Couch of Anniston and Larry Couch of Jacksonville; two grandchildren, Brandon Couch and Amanda Henry; one great-grandchild, Cayla Couch; three nieces; and one nephew.

Pallbearers were Brandon Couch, Reggie Henry, Gary Dempsey, Chris Dempsey, Buddy Ledbetter and Bobby Whorton.

Mr. Couch was a World War II Army veteran in the South Pacific.

He was a farmer and loved farming. He was preceded in death by his sister, Avis Dempsey, and a brother, Garvin Couch.

TONOGAN
11-18-2005

Services for Master Sgt. (ret.) Anthony A. Tonogan, 57,will be directed by K. L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Burial will be in Punchbowl, the National cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu.

Sgt. Tonogan died Nov. 9 at Veterans Hospital, Birmingham.

Survivors include his wife, Mellie Hammonds Tonogan of Jacksonville; a daughter, Michele L. Tonogan of Atlanta; two sons, David F. Tonogan of Decatur, Ga., and Andrew K. Tonogan of Jacksonville; a sister, Frances “Fay” Spencer of Waipahu, Hawaii; two brothers, Lawrence F. Tonogan of Burlingame, Calif., and Robert J. Tonogan of Honolulu; one grandson, Gabriel Tonogan; three nieces and six nephews.

Sgt. Tonogan was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Margaret Tonogan, and his brother, John P. Tonogan.

He was a member of the National Rifle Association and was affiliated with the Missing in Action and Prisoners of War.

Mr. Tonogan served two tours in Vietnam during his 20 years of service in the U. S. Army. He received a Bronze Star with Oak Leaf clusters and numerous other awards and accommodations.

TRANTHAM
11-18-2005

Services for John E. Trantham were at 11 a.m. Nov. 14 in the chapel of K. L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Chapel with Rev. Mike Yates and Rev. Allen Pock officiating. Burial was in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Trantham died at his home Nov. 12 from cancer and COPD.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Janice Trantham; his children, Johnny, DeRhonda, Robert and Hope; two sisters and a brother-in-law Gloria McGinnis of Orlando, Fla., and Betty and Ted Hendon of Dallas, Ga., and his grandchildren, Kayla, Jori and Statlin.

His parents, Joe and Jewell Trantham, his parents-in-law, Ed and Lois Young; a sister-in-law, Joyce Young Harrell; and a brother-in-law, K.W. McGinnis, preceded him in death.

Pallbearers were Tommy Smith, Mark Starr, Ricky Maroney, Gary Bonds, Scott Ward and Dwight Roper. Mr. Trantham was born Oct. 10, 1939.

Mr. Trantham attended Jacksonville High School and Jacksonville State University. He worked at Union Yarn Mill and retired from Goodyear in 1998.

He was the owner of Jon and Jan’s Washateria and Oak Street Mobile Home Park. He was a member of West Side Baptist Church and enjoyed Webster’s Chapel Baptist Church.

YEVICK
11-18-2005

Graveside services for Thedford Lytelle “Ted” Yevick, 76, were at 2 p.m. Nov. 14 at Jacksonville City cemetery with Rev. Terry Johnson officiating. K. L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center directed.

Mr. Yevick died Nov. 11 at Baptist Medical Center Montclair.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Sue Tillery Yevick,; a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Grace Esparza Yevick of San Diego, Calif.; a daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Hill Mayfield of Freeport, Ill.; two grandchildren, Misty Mayfield Marbut and her husband, Brian of Pinson, and Tyler Mayfield of Jacksonville; two great-grandchildren, Hayden and Cameron Marbut of Pinson; and two brothers, Sonnie Yevick of Jacksonville and John Yevick of Griffin, Ga.

Mr. Yevick was a former member of the VFW, Lions Club, American Legion and a was a partner in Florate LTD. Co. and president and CEO of CAL-PAC Inc. (real estate investment companies) in Jacksonville and San Diego. He was a master sergeant 1st class, serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

Memorial donations may be made to the Alabama Kidney Foundation, P. O. Box 12505, Birmingham 35202 or to a favorite charity.

VINCENT
11-18-2005

Services for Florine “Flo” G. Vincent, 84, of Kerrville, Texas, formerly of Jacksonville, were at 11 a.m. Nov. 16 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Bill Ethridge and Rev. Melisa Saccucci officiating. Graveside services were at 3 p.m. at Blue Eye Baptist Church Cemetery, Lincoln. K. L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center directed.

Mrs. Vincent died Nov. 10 at Parsons House Care Center.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Rev. Ann Vincent Atkins and Rev. Hal Atkins of Baltimore, Md.; a son and daughter-in-law, Clyde Eugene “Gene” Jr. and Beverly Green Vincent of Center Point, Texas; three sisters, June Killingsworth and Joyce Fowler of Griffin, Ga., and Vivian Prickett of Wellington; and two grandchildren, Amy Ashcraft of Warner Robins, Ga., and Ben Vincent of El Paso, Texas.

Her husband, Clyde Eugene Vincent, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Vincent was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Jacksonville where she was a member of the JOY group. She was a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church of Hampton, Va., or the Alzheimer’s Association, 3322 S. Memorial Parkway, Suite 216, Huntsville 35801.

BAIN

OXFORD — Funeral services for Lonniel Warren (L.W.) Bain, 89, will be on Monday, August 11, 2008, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory with Bro. Jeff Smith, Dr. C.O. Grinstead and the Rev. David Bain officiating. Burial will follow in the Dogwood Trails Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home and also on Monday from 10 a.m. until service time. Mr. Bain died on Friday at his residence.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Jean Munroe Bain; children, David and Debbie Bain, of Anniston, Paul and Nancy Bain, Phil and Charlene Bain, and Martha and Rob Kimbrough, all of Oxford; grandchildren, Jason and Corrie Bain, of Chesapeake, Va., Adam and Erika Bain, of Woodstock, Ga., Daniel and Joni Bain, of Buckner, Mo., Kristen Bain, of Anniston, Amy and Matt Johnson, Jeff Bain, Stephanie Bain, Emily Bain and Robby Kimbrough,all of Oxford, Livi and Micah Junior, of Tuscaloosa; 9 great-grandchildren and one soon to be born; brothers, William Albert Bain, of White Plains and Howard Bain, of Anniston; sister, Edna Adams, of Jacksonville; brother-in-law, Tommy and Mildred Munroe, of Alexandria, and a care giver, Mary Robinson; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Pallbearers will be Jason Bain, Adam Bain, Daniel Bain, Matt Johnson, Jeff Bain, Robby Kimbrough, Micah Junior, Anthony Munroe and Lucas Tripp. Mr. Bain was a resident of Oxford and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Oxford. He was an Independent Truck Driver for over 32 years and a veteran of World War II. Mr. Bain was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Albert and Lillie Warren Bain; father and mother-in-law, J.C. and Arilla Munroe and sisters, Evelyn Garner and Elizabeth Bain. The family would like to express there thanks to Anita Collier and the staff of Wiregrass Hospice and the staffs at NHC Camille Court and Stringfellow Memorial Hospital. The family ask that in the place of flowers that donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the American Heart Association or to Rainbow Omega.
