HEFLIN — Mrs. Billie Rena Parker, 49, passed away Sunday, May 11, 2008 at her residence.

Funeral services for Mrs. Parker were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at Dryden Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tony Mahathy officiating. Interment followed at Crumley's Chapel Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Kevin Brooks, Norman Deese, Everett Smith, Scottie Cofield, Willis Fordham, and Gregg Deese.

Survivors include her mother, Lillie Owedia (Deese) Spruell, of Heflin; father, Wendall Spruell, of Heflin; son, Scott Shephard, of Odenville; brother, Michael Fordham, of Heflin; and a grandson, Blaine Shephard. Mrs. Parker was born on January 23, 1959 in Carrollton, Georgia. She had been a resident of Cleburne County for most of her life and was a member of Crumley's Chapel Church of God. HEFLIN — Bettye Lena Reid, 79, passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at Trinity Medical Center.

Funeral services for Mrs. Reid will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 17, 2008, at Dryden Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Samuel Hayes and The Rev. Lamar Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Heflin City Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Dale Welch, Houston Auten, Bill Fordham, Bob Wood, Chad Reid, Chip Reid, Frank Reid, Allen Couch, and Greg Fordham.

Survivors include her husband, Russell Reid, of Heflin; daughter, Linda (Andy) Landers, of Anniston; four sisters, Mazie Welch and Myrtice Merrill, both of Anniston; Mary Fordham, and Lillian (Dr. Robert) Wood, both of Huntsville; two grandchildren, Jeremy Landers and Krystal Landers; one great-grandchild, Samantha Landers; and cousins, Tiny Blanton and Lee Lipham. Mrs. Reid, a life long resident of Cleburne County, was a former employee of The General Electric Plant in Oxford and later worked over 25 years at Harpers Tasty Dip in Heflin. REYNOLDS

MORGANTON, N.C. — Nancy Harbison Reynolds, 88, formerly of Anniston and Knoxville, Tenn., passed away Thursday, May 15, 2008 at Grace Ridge Retirement Community in Morganton, ending a valiant 8 year journey through Alzheimer's disease. Mrs. Reynolds was born, raised, and spent her last years in Morganton, North Carolina. She was the third-born of five children of James and Louise Harbison and was predeceased by all except her younger sister, Laura Consley, also of Grace Ridge. A graduate of and valedictorian of the class of 1939 at Morganton High School, Mrs. Reynolds was further educated at the Woman's College of the University of North Carolina (now UNC Greensboro). She was married to the love of her life, Harry Reynolds, in August 1945, on the same day that World War lI ended, and they were happily married for 54 years before his death in 1999. A lifelong Episcopalian, Mrs. Reynolds was most currently a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Morganton, the same church in which she was baptized as an infant. Mrs. Reynolds is survived by her son, Harry Reynolds Jr. and his wife, Beverly, of Georgetown, Texas; daughter, Nancy Heatherly and her husband, John, of Knoxville, Tenn.; grandchildren, John Heatherly III and his wife, Devereux, of Moore, Okla., Erica Pritchett and her husband, John, of Waxahachie, Texas, Elliott Reynolds, of Georgetown, Texas, and Cynthia Heatherly, of Brentwood, Tenn.; great-grandchildren, Lucas Reynolds, of Marshfield, Mo., and Madeline Pritchett, of Waxahachie, Texas; and sister, Laura Consley of Morganton; several sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Highland Memorial cemetery in Knoxville.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mrs. Reynolds' memory may be sent to the Generation to Generation Campaign at Grace Episcopal Church, 303 S. King St., Morganton, NC 28655 or to the Alzheimer's Association (see alz.org).

SEXTON

EASTABOGA — Funeral services for Miss Andrea Sudan Sexton, 54, will be Saturday, May 17, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home & Crematory. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12-2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Edgemont Cemetery. Miss Sexton is survived by her godson, Michael E. Maye and caregivers, Cathy Raley, of Anniston and Helen Crews, of Eastaboga. Miss Sexton was a native of Alabama, but has resided in Calhoun County for the past 20 years. She was a graduate of Mt. WHITE

ANNISTON — Funeral services for Mr. David White, 85, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 17, 2008, at the Zion Rising Star Church of God In Christ with Evangelist W. Goggins officiating. Burial will be in the Eden Hills cemetery with Anniston Funeral Service in charge. The body will be at the church one hour prior to services. Mr. White died peacefully on May 8, 2008 at Stringfellow Hospital in Anniston.

Survivors include, three children, David White Jr, of Washington, D.C., Mary White, and Naomi White, both of Anniston; two grandchildren, Teressa C. White, of Alexandria, Va.; and Christopher White, of Philadelphia, Pa.; eight great-grandchildren; and a special niece, Mary Alice Jemison, of Anniston.

Pallbearers friends of the family. Mr. White was a life long resident and a member of the Zion Rising Star Church of God in Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie White and Patsy Pope-White, his wife, older siblings and his granddaughter Tania White. The family will accept flowers. FUQUA

Services for Richard Randolph Fuqua, 64, were at 2 p.m. Monday, May 12, in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home. Rev. Tommy Ballew officiated. Burial was in Piedmont Memory Gardens.

Mr. Fuqua died May 10 at Jacksonville Medical Center.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Effie Fuqua; two daughters and sons-in-law, Christy and Stacey Brown and Lisa Ann and Carl Mobley all of Piedmont; a granddaughter, Heather Nicole Brown of Piedmont; his mother, Vera Fuqua of Piedmont; a brother and sister-in-law, Allen Ray and Ellen Fuqua of Piedmont; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Jean and Clint Mann of McDonough, Ga., and Sue and Gene Motes of Jacksonville; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Stacey Brown, Carl Mobley, Larry Gossett, David Hastert, Michael Tolbert and Gary Hastert.

Mr. Fuqua was a native and lifelong resident of Piedmont. He retired from Diodati Construction with 35 years services as a concrete finisher and was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed working on the farm and spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter. His father Lee Fuqua preceded him in death.

GILMER

Graveside services for Doris Scoggins Gilmer, 79, were at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 13, at Vinson cemetery in Ohatchee. Rev. Jimmy Nunnally officiated. Chapel Hill directed.

Mrs. Gilmer died May 10 at RMC Long-Term Care.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Charlotte Gilmer of Jacksonville; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Larry Scoggins, Alton Gilmer, William Gilmer, Clyde Gilmer, Koley Gilmer and Kyle Gilmer.

Mrs. Gilmer was a native and life long resident of Calhoun County. She retired from Anniston Sportswear after 25 years of service and was an Avon Representative for 30 years. She was of the Baptist faith. Her husband William D. Gilmer and five sisters and six brothers preceded her in death.

GREEN

Services for Robbie Jack Green, Jr., 46, were at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 8, at First Baptist Church of Williams. Revs. Bryce Cox and Mike Oliver officiated. Burial was in the Williams Community Cemetery, K.L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center directed.

Mr. Green died May 4 in Dothan.

Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Cynthia Green; a daughter, Jacqueline Green; a son, Jake Green; his father, Jack Green and his wife Louise of Pleasant Valley; his mother, Judy Day of Anniston; a sister and brother-in-law, Sandy and Stan Woodley of Mesa, Ariz.; a brother and sister-in-law, Jon and Lana Green of Jacksonville; a sister and brother-in-law, Ann Marie and Mark Jagello of Weaver and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Ronnie Green, Raymond Bell, Dave Brandsma, Matt Holland, Joe Young and Don Hill, Jr. Honorary pallbearers were Frank Proietty and Russell Mathis.

Mr. Green was an avid rider and lover of Harley Davidson motorcycles. He was an avid hunter, camper and fisherman and was employed at Floyd Medical Center in Rome, Ga., where he enjoyed his career as a nurse. He was a member of Westwood Baptist Church.

HANNAH

Services for Ervin C. Hannah, 92, of Wellington, were 2 p.m. Sunday, May 11, at Anniston Memorial Funeral Home. Revs. Tommy Reaves and Bryan Williams officiated. Burial was in Crook cemetery in Ohatchee.

Mr. Hannah died May 8 at Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Julia Mae Hannah; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Frank Hannah of Wellington, David and June Hannah of Alexandria and Thomas Stedham of Tuscaloosa; grandchildren, Amy Spurling and her husband Tommy of Rainbow City, Eddie Hannah and his wife Jennifer of Temple, Texas, Brandon Martin of Pleasant Valley and Amber McCutcheon and her husband Jacob of Southside; great-grandchildren, Hunter Lee Zuchelli, Terra Brooke Spurling, Tori Spurling, JoAnna McCutcheon and Brody McCutcheon; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Lee Johnson, Bryan Johnson, Brandon Martin, Tom Bryant, Bobby Douthit, and Tommy Spurling. Honorary pallbearers were Errol Hayes, Carl Hammonds and the deacons of Hebron Church.

MARTIN

Services for Fred L. Martin, 70, were 11 a.m., Thursday, May 8, at Gray Brown Service Chapel. Mr. Dennis Kinnan officiated. Burial was in Edgemont Cemetery.

Mr. Martin died May 5 at his home.

Survivors include, wife, Laura Martin of Jacksonville; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Susan and Greg Tucker of Anniston and Magaret Greenwood and Tammy and Randy Robertson of Jacksonville; five grandchildren, Michael Greenwood, Shelby Baker, Stephen Greenwood, Sydney Baker and Melina Greenwood; five sisters and three brothers-in-law, Louise Martin, of Louisiana, Mary and Phillip Nelson of Arizona, Martha and Windell Lindsey and Nancy and Dallas Bundrum of Alexandria and Margaret Johanson, of Washington, and a brother and sister-in-law, John and Yvonne Martin and wife of Mississippi.

Pallbearers were Greg Tucker, Randy Robertson, Richard Baker, Phillip Greenwood, Alex Robertson and Michael Greenwood.

Mr. Martin was a native and lifelong resident of Calhoun County. His parents B.C. and Lillie Mae Martin and brothers James Martin, Paul Martin and Jack Martin preceded him in death.

UPTON
05-14-2008

Services for Randy “Tick” Upton, 51, will be at 1 p.m. today in the chapel of K .L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center Chapel. Rev. Jon Hammonds will officiate. Cremation will follow the service.

Mr. Upton died May 3 in Etowah County.

Survivors include a sister, Rita Rollins of Jacksonville; three brothers, Glen Upton of Jacksonville, Gerald Upton of Wellington and Ricky Upton of Suwanee, Ga.; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Mr. Upton enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews. His brother Ronald Upton and his parents Joe and Willene Upton preceded him in death.
