BOONE
Anniston — A Graveside Service for Blanca Boone, age 59, of Anniston will be Tuesday, May 23, 2006 at noon at Maple Grove cemetery with Father Bob Sullivan officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 22 with a vigil service following at 7 at Brown & Kughn Memory Chapel. Mrs. Boone died Wednesday at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Ala.
BROWN
Jones Elbert Brown, known to his family, friends, and associates as "J.E." died peacefully at home on May 17, 2006 after a brief illness at the age of 80. He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Mary Jo Brown.
He is survived by his three daughters, Betty Jo Moore and husband, Truman, of Huntsville, Dorothy B. Haynes and husband, Kenneth, of Huntsville; and Starla Bennett and husband, Joe, of Oxford; two sisters, Gladys Woody and Berta Young, both of Piedmont; two brothers, Gordon Brown, of Oxford, and Boyce Brown, of Ohatchee; eight grandchildren, Kyle and Karisa Haynes, of Huntsville; Shannon, Darby, and Brian Moore, of Huntsville, and Stevie, Chase, and Jodi Bennett, of Oxford; one great-granddaughter, Katherine Renee Moore, of Huntsville.
Pallbearers will be Steve Brown, Tim Brown, Kevin Brown, Mike Brown, Sam Woody, and Ricky Young. He began his excavating business, Brown Brothers Grading Company in 1953 in Piedmont, Alabama and eventually moved his company to Oxford. His business excavated numerous building sites and highways in the Southeast, notably the Tullahoma Rocket Test Facility in Tennessee. He was a well-known businessman in Calhoun County and was instrumental in the organization of First City National Bank of Oxford where he served on the Board of Directors. Later, it was acquired by Compass Bank. His numerous business achievements included mining operations and real estate developments. In Calhoun and Talladega Counties, these included the subdivisions of Brownwood, White Gap Estates, Choccolocco Estates, and Brown Acres (Calhoun County) and the subdivisions of Country Oaks, Valley East, Valley View, and McIntosh Acres (Talladega County). Mr. Brown was a World War II veteran where he served in the United States Navy.
Services for Mr. Brown will be Saturday, May 20, 2006 at 2 p.m. at Brown & Kughn Memory Chapel with Dr. Billy Harris officiating. Burial will be in Forestlawn Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.
FINLEY
Talladega — Funeral services for Mr. John Finley, 57, of Talladega, Ala., will be announced by Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary.
Mr. Finley died Thursday, May 18, 2006 at Talladega Health Care Center.

Mrs. Hall died Thursday, May 18, 2006 at Regional Medical Center.
HAWTHORNE, JR.
Warner Robins — George Boltz Hawthorne, Jr., 77, passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2006. Services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 20, 2006 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Interment will be at 3:15 p.m. Saturday at Hillcrest Cemetery, Sylvester, GA. Visitation will be this evening from 6 to 8 at McCullough Funeral Home.
Mr. Hawthorne was born on August 15, 1928 in Bainbridge, Ga. He earned his B.S., M.S., and P.H.D. at Georgia Tech, graduating in 1963, Suma Cum Laude. From 1963 until 1972, he was employed with the Mitre Corporation. Mr. Hawthorne later retired with 20 years in civil service at Robins Air Force Base. He was a member of All Saints Anglican Church in Macon, Ga., where he was a lay reader. His parents, George B. Hawthorne, Sr. and Martha Rudisill Hawthorne, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel L. Hawthorne, Warner Robins; daughter, Susan Knight, Lilburn; son, George B. Hawthorne III, Oxford; grandchildren, William Andrew Knight and Katherine Lee Knight, both of Lilburn; Julia Michelle Hawthorne, Oxford; sister, Martha H. Lynn, Sylvester; brother, Henry Wilson Hawthorne, Pine Mountain; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Anniston — Services for Louise Lawler Lyner, age 84, of Anniston will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Brown & Kughn Memory Chapel with Dr. Randy Hayes officiating. Burial will be in Forestlawn Gardens. The family will receive friends this evening from 5 to 7 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Lyner died Wednesday at Regional Medical Center.
O'BAR
Attalla — Mrs. Dollie Wilma O'Bar, age 73, of Attalla, and a former resident of Piedmont, died Wednesday, May 17, 2006 in Attalla.
Mrs. O'Bar was born on December 12, 1932 the daughter of the late Samuel T. and Cora Wood Goss. She had lived the greater part of her life in Piedmont before moving to Attalla. She was a member of the Philadelphia Baptist Church and was preceded in death by a daughter, Kelly O'Bar in 1972 and by her husband, Mr. Joe O'Bar in 1996. Prior to retirement, Mrs. O'Bar was employed with Bostrom for many years.
Survivors include her children; one son, Mr. Robert O'Bar and his wife, HughAnea, of Gadsden; two daughters, Mrs. JoAnne Legat and her husband, Greg, of Attalla, and Ms. Jean Potts, of Piedmont; two sisters, Mrs. Katherine Gowens, of Rock Run, and Mrs. Olene Barnes, of Piedmont; three step-sons; Mr. Wayne O'Bar and his wife, Frances, of Mt. View, Calif., Mr. Danny O'Bar and his wife, Patsy, of Gadsden, and Alan O'Bar, of Gadsden; one step-daughter; Ms. Rebecca Martin of Gadsden; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren along with a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. O'Bar will be conducted today, May 19, 2006 at 2 p.m. from the Philadelphia Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Dyer and the Rev. Jerry Stewart officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 1 p.m. to the funeral hour at the church. Flowers will be accepted or memorial may be made to the charity of your choice.
Pallbearers will include the following gentlemen; Danny O'Bar, Greg Legat, Kent Gibbs, Brent Hill. Honorary pallbearers will be; Alan O'Bar and Steve Legat. Both active and honorary pallbearers are requested to meet at the church this afternoon by 12:45 p.m.

Spring Garden — Services for Tom Sanford, 68, of Spring Garden will be 2 p.m. today, May 19, 2006 at Thompson Funeral Home with the Rev. Tony McCain officiating. Burial will follow in Piedmont Memory Gardens. Mr. Sanford died Wednesday, May 17, 2006 at Gadsden Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include his sister, Ramona Holland and her husband, Joe, of Spring Garden; his brother, John Dan Sanford and his wife, Betty, of Spring Garden; his companion, Jennie Prater, of Spring Garden; his brother-in-law, Ernie Sides, of Spring Garden; a special friend, Chad Christian, of Goshen and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Fred Rhinehart, Chad Christian, Jim Sanford, Jr., Gentry Sanford, Mackie Sides, Shane Molock, Rickey Sides and Willie Barnwell. Honorary pallbearers will be Randall Prater, Ted Acker, Dennis Ragsdale, Matt Mobbs, Woody Cheatwood and Gary Gresham. Mr. Sanford was a native and resident of Spring Garden.
He was a member of Spring Garden Methodist Church, had served in the National Guard and was a retired farmer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert and Vertice Sanford; his sister, Anna Sides; and a brother, Jimmy Sanford.

Millerville — Services for Mrs. Annie Ruth Simmons, of Millerville, Ala., will be 1 p.m. Saturday, May 20, 2006 at Roseline Baptist Church in Millerville. Burial will be in Simmons cemetery in Millerville with Anniston Funeral Services in charge. The body will be at the church two hours prior to service.
Mrs. Simmons passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2006 at her residence in Millerville.
Survivors include; 11 children, Lucille Maxwell, Laura (Lewis) Kelly, Robert (Linda) Simmons, John (Jo Catherine) Simmons, Emma (the Rev. Johnny) Zachery, Arthur (Pat) Simmons, Lillie (Henry) Alexander and Martina (Jerome) Hammonds, Dewey Simmons, Mary Rowland, and Frances Sheeley; two brothers, the Rev. Oscar (Ruthie) Dolman and Arthur (Susie) Dolman; one sister, Ethel (Ervin) Waters; 78 grandchildren; 141 great-grandchildren and 76 great-great grandchildren.
Mrs. Simmons was a native of Millerville, all of her life and a member of the Roseline Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, George Simmons; six sisters; one son, and three brothers.
Pallbearers will be grandsons. The family will accept flowers.

STOWES
Ashland — Funeral services for William Ben Stowes, Jr., 75, of Ashland, Ala., will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church with the Revs. Thomas Robertson and David Tucker officiating. Burial will be at Old Field Cemetery. The body will be at the church one hour prior to the service. Mr. Stowes died Tuesday, May 16, 2006 at Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include his wife, Hildra Mae Stowes, of Ashland; daughters, Gaynell S. Traylor and Lavetta A. Smith, both of Ashland, and Charlotte T. Scott, of Alexander City; sons, Calvin L. Stowes, Talladega, and Rhoderick L. Stowes, of Ashland; step-mother, Lorene Stowes, of Alexander City; four sisters and two brothers; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
He was a graduate of Clay County Training School; was a member, trustee, president of the Methodist Men and a member of the usher board of the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. Mr. Stowes was a veteran of the Korean conflict in the U.S. Army and founder of the Westside Progressive League.
STREETER, SR.
Rochester, NY — Services for Mr. Frank Streeter, Sr., age 77, of Rochester, N.Y., formerly of Munford will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Anniston Funeral Service Chapel in Anniston, Ala., with the Rev. Jeffery Williams, officiating. Burial will be in the Eden Hills cemetery in Anniston with Anniston Funeral Services in charge. The body will be at the chapel until time of services.
Mr. Streeter passed away on May 6, 2006 at Highland Hospital in Rochester, NY.
Survivors include; six sons, Willie Mitchell, Willie Streeter, Andrew James Streeter, Alphonso Streeter (Todd), Sylvester Singletary, and Rodney Lee; two daughters, Debyie Streeter, and Genice Streeter; one sister, Maggie Mae Sullen; 20 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren. Mr. Streeter was an Alabama native and an Independent Living Provider for over 34 years. He was a Mason of 35 years for Prince Hall affiliation Lodge No. 605 F&AM of Alabama.
