JIMELVIN TIEQUNE READAY DAVIS
ALEXANDER CITY — Funeral service for infant Jimelvin Tiequne Readay Davis of Alexander City will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Wright's Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Roderick Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Elam #1 Cemetery.
The infant died Aug. 7 at Children's Hospital in Birmingham. He is survived by his mother, Shameka S. Davis of Alexander City; his father, Melvin D. Moon of Alexander City; two sisters, Shantarion Carter and LaJaya Carter of Alexander City; his grandparents, Willie and Bobbie Carter of Kellyton, Melvin Wycoff of Cleveland, Ohio, and Dorothy J. Moon of Alexander City; a stepgrandfather, Willie J. Graham of Alexander City; two great-grandmothers, Hester Moon of Alexander City and Betty Davis of Kellyton; three aunts, four uncles and a host of other relatives and friends.
Wright's Funeral Home will direct the service.
MILDRED LOUISE
DUNCAN
ASHLAND — Funeral service for Mildred Louise Duncan, 74, of Alexander City was Saturday at Benefield Funeral Home chapel in Ashland with the Rev. Jim Arnall officiating. Burial followed in Bethel Christian Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Duncan died Aug. 7 at Russell Medical Center in Alexander City. A native of Tuscaloosa County, she lived most of her line in Talladega County, where she was a homemaker and member of the Talladega Springs Full Gospel Tabernacle. She had lived in Alexander City for the past four years. She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas L. Gordon, and a sister, Elizabeth Wood.
She is survived by one son, Steve Gordon of Goodwater; four sisters, Martha Hall of Eastaboga, Elsie Harris of Anniston, Faye DeBlasie of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Annie Ruth Roberson of Pace, Fla.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Tim Gordon, Mark Gordon, Tommy Booth, Mark Luker, Wade Price and Marvin Lanthrip.
Benefield Funeral Home of Ashland directed the service.

JAMES VERNON HANNAH
PELL CITY — Funeral service for James Vernon Hannah, 68, of 178 Providence Road, Ragland, will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Usrey-Chapel Hill Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug Ford officiating. Burial will follow in Lincoln Cemetery.
Mr. Hannah died Aug. 9 at his residence. A lifelong resident of St. Clair County, he was an active member of Masonic Lodge Chapter 150, and a worthy Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ray Hannah.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lynn Hannah of Ragland; three sisters, Betty Lou Peavy of Pell City, Judy Ann Phillips of Ragland and Carolyn Sue Lawless of Southside; two brothers, Robert Junior Hannah and Charles Virgil Hannah of Ragland; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Members of the Masonic Lodge will be active pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Usrey-Chapel Hill Funeral Home will direct the service.

WALTER HAMP MITCHELL
TALLADEGA — Funeral service for Walter Hamp "Pop" Mitchell, 76, of Talladega will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at Talladega Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Larry Haywood officiating. Burial will follow in Springhill Baptist Church Cemetery in Clay County.
Mr. Mitchell died Aug. 8 at his home. A native and lifelong resident of Talladega County, he retired from Wellborne Cabinet Company in Ashland and was of the Baptist faith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and served during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Mitchell of Talladega; two daughters, Christie Taylor and Carolyn Graham of Talladega; two sons, Paul Mitchell of Talladega and Jimmy Mitchell of Hollins, Mich.; one sister, Jackie Irvin of Cullman; one brother, James Mitchell of Atlanta; and four grandchildren, Brooke Mitchell, Jesse Mitchell, Jamie Boden and Tara Lynn Mitchell.
Active pallbearers will be Dewayne Moxley, Robert Taylor, Robert Irvin, Billy Freeman, Raymond Davis, Leonard Haywood and Ronnie McKinney.
Talladega Funeral Home will direct the service.

ELLA PATE MORRISON
ASHLAND — Funeral service for Ella Pate Morrison, 91, of Delta will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Union D Baptist Church with the Rev. George McKinley officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
Mrs. Morrison died Aug. 7 at Clay County Nursing Home. A native and lifelong resident of Clay County, she was a homemaker and member of Union D Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Clifton Morrison and Perry John Morrison.
She is survived by a son, Jackie Morrison of Oxford; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Friends and nephews will be pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m. and until one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, and at the church one hour prior to the service.
Benefield Funeral Home of Ashland will direct the service.

SLAUGHTER ROBERSON
LINEVILLE — Funeral service for Slaughter Roberson, 90, of Ashland was Saturday at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard East and Rev. Malcolm Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
Mr. Roberson died Aug. 7 at University Hospital in Birmingham. A native and lifelong resident of Clay County, he was a farmer and member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dillie G. Roberson.
He is survived by two daughters, Velma Nappier and Thelma Davis of Ashland; one son, Jasper Roberson of Ashland; eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Benefield Funeral Home of Ashland directed the service.

HOWARD SAYLOR
TALLADEGA — Funeral service for Howard Saylor, 89, of Talladega will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Oldham, Roberts and Powell Funeral Home in Richmond, Ky., with the Rev. Bill Fort officiating. Burial will follow in Richmond Cemetery.
Mr. Saylor died Aug. 8 in Birmingham. A native of Lincoln County, Ky., he graduated from Brodhead High School and attended Easter Kentucky University. He taught school in Rockcastle County before serving in World War II, and was employed at the Blue Grass Army Depot for more than 30 years. He was also an avid gardener. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 55 years, Elizabeth Newby Saylor; his parents, Joseph and Laura Howard Saylor; his sister, Margaret Morin; his brothers Ray and Roy Saylor; and his nephew, William Hopkins.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Laura Saylor Waldrip and William Allen Waldrip of Alpine; a sister, Caroline Hopkins of Baton Rouge, La.; his double first cousin, Cleston Saylor of Brodhead, Ky.; his grandchildren, Denise Bean, Greg Waldrip, Lisa Waldrip Usher, and John Waldrip; his great-grandchildren, Ryon Bean, Makenna Bean, and Beth and Anna Waldrip; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Nephews will be active pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers will be Sara Dan Brown, Sharon Palmore, Harold Robertson, Sylvester White, Charles Hall, Henry Peters, Don Wilder, Claude Allen Newby, Cleston Saylor and Lewis Broussard.
The family received friends Saturday at Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega, and will receive friends Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Oldham, Roberts and Powell Funeral Home in Richmond.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund or the Kentucky Baptist Children’s Home.
Usrey Funeral Home and Oldham, Roberts and Powell Funeral Home will direct the service.

ESSIE LOUISE RUSSELL WILLIAMS
CHILDERSBURG — Funeral service for Essie Louise Russell Williams, 84, of Montgomery will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Childersburg Church of Christ with Brother Clarence Denney officiating. Burial will follow in Greenhill Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Williams died Aug. 7 at Baptist Medical Center East in Montgomery. First and foremost in her life was her devotion to Jesus Christ and the love of the Scriptures. She was a true disciple who followed the command of Jesus in spreading the Gospel to everyone she knew. She asked God for wisdom and received it abundantly. Her hobbies were gardening, flowers and bird watching. She was preceded in death by her first husband of 28 years, Robert Linder Russell, a Methodist minister; and her second husband of 22 years, Bill Williams.
She is survived by two sons, Robert Russell of Childersburg and Frank Russell of Mobile; three daughters, Mary Jo Guy of Tuscaloosa, Sue Ellen Kwater of Montgomery and Lisa Nan Harmon of Jacksonville, Fla.; three stepsons, Harold Williams and Roy Williams of Sylacauga and Danny Williams of Childersburg; two brothers, Charles Dudney of Childersburg and Blonnie Dudney of Tennessee; three sisters, Lillie Lamb and Martha Jones of Huntsville and Evelyn Nelson of Sylacauga; 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and eight stepgrandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Robbie Russell, Kenny Guy, Lynn Russell, Ritchie Russell, Scott Guy, Glen Guy and Jim Kwater.
Curtis and Son Funeral Home Childersburg Chapel will direct the service.

LITTLE REESE LEONARD

TALLADEGA — Funeral service for Little Reese (TV) Leonard, 54, of 817 Scott St., will be Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary chapel with Pastor Willie Ed Simmons officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hill Memorial Park.

Mr. Leonard died Aug. 8 at his residence. He attended Eastside Elementary School and Westside High School. He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his parents, Neal Leonard and Gladys D. Young Leonard, and a brother, Charlie Leonard. He was formerly employed by Coca-Cola Bottling Company, Crown Textile and was retired from Newberry Foundry.

He is survived by daughter, Crystal Renee Garrett of Talladega; sons, Steven Lamon Leonard of Douglasville, Ga., and Ronald Edwin Leonard of Odgen, Kan.; stepfather, Junior Lewis Garrett of Talladega; sisters, Catherine Soto of Chicago, Ill., and Karen Jemison of Talladega; brothers, Leon Leonard of Talladega and Ernest O'Neal Leonard of College Park, Ga.; and six grandchildren.

Friends of the family will serve as pallbearers.

Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary will direct the service.

MARY S. BYNUM

TALLADEGA — Funeral service for Mary S. Bynum, 85, will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Usrey Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Doug Hemphill officiating. Burial will be in Midway Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Bynum died Aug. 9 at Citizens BMC. She was a native of Marshall County, was a resident of Talladega for 60 years and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She was a store manager for C&H Company and worked for Goldberg and Lewis Department Store. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Bynum; sister, Edie Terrell; and brothers, Comer Strickland and Homer Strickland.

She is survived by daughters, Jimmie Lou Horton of Bowling Green, Ky., Betty June Martin of Opelika, Sarah Creel of Mobile and Faye Guy of Opelika; sisters, Dollie Shambley of Opelika and Irene Baty of Sylacauga; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Pallbearers will be Malcom D. Patterson, James K. Creel, Brad W. Beebe, Danny G. Johns, James W. Guy and Mark D. Lowery.

Usrey Funeral Home will direct the service.

MAVIS EARLINE CHAPPELL

SYLACAUGA — Funeral service for Mavis Earline Chappell, 83, will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Curtis and Son Funeral Home North chapel with the Rev. Mark Deason officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Mrs. Chappell died Aug. 10.

She is survived by son, Cecil Chappell and wife Virginia of Sylacauga; sisters, Myrtle Hutchinson and Dorothy Hickman of Sylacauga and Pauline Crump of Talladega; grandchildren, Wendy Killian and Christy Duke; and great-grandchildren, Erika Killian, Erin Killian, Michael Killian and Kaylee Duke.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel will direct the service.

HOBERT COOK

SYLACAUGA — Hobert Cook, 80, died Aug. 10.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Radney-Smith Funeral Home in Sylacauga.

HUGH HAROLD ESTES

HOOVER — Funeral service for Hugh Harold Estes, 73, will be Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. at Ridout's Southern Heritage chapel. Burial will be in Southern Heritage Cemetery.

Mr. Estes died Aug. 11. He was originally from Columbus, Ga., and lived in Sylacauga before moving to Hoover. At the time of his retirement from Alabama Power Company, he was superintendent of operations at the Miller Steam Plant. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Hoover, where he had served as chairman of the deacons and Sunday school director. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Pam Whisonant of Hoover.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Betty Daugherty Estes; grandchildren, Brooke Whisonant Patterson of Helena, Michael Whisonant Jr. of Alabaster and Wesley Bryan McDougal of Alabaster; brother, Clarence Estes of Newnan, Ga.; sister, Helen Thompson of Newnan, Ga.; and aunt, Hugh Hembree of Conyers, Ga.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the First Baptist Church of Hoover Building Fund.

Ridout's Southern Heritage in Pelham will direct the service.

EVELYN RIGGLEMAN GREEN

TALLADEGA — Graveside service for Evelyn Riggleman Green, 77, will be Tuesday at 4 p.m. in Pine Hill Memorial Park with the Rev. Diane Housler officiating.

Mrs. Green died Aug. 10 at her residence. She was a native and lifelong resident of Talladega and was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. She was former owner and operator of Discount Tires, with her husband, Byron Green. She was preceded in death by her husband, W. Byron Green.

She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Sherlyn G. and Bill Jackson of Anniston and Melissa G. and Tommy White of Talladega; sisters, Elizabeth R. Douglas of Oxford, Barbara R. Freeman of Talladega and Altheaon R. Henry of Talladega; brother, Donald (Don) Riggleman of Talladega; grandchildren, Amy J. Bellin of Anniston, Brad Jackson of Decatur, Michael White of New York and Missy W. Hopper of Birmingham; and great-grandchildren, Byron Jackson Bellin and Mary Bradford Jackson.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 2:30 p.m. until service time.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lakeside Hospice, P.O. Box 544, Pell City, Ala., 35125.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
