CENTRE — Funeral service for Mr. Larry Don Ayers, 57, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Sand Rock Baptist Church. Mr. Ayers died Tuesday at Dekalb Medical Center.

LEEDS — Wanda Lee Battles, 83, of Leeds, passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2008. Mrs. Battles is survived by her sons, Thomas R. Battles (Jan) of Leeds, Gary Battles (Dianne) of Mobile ; sisters, Kathleen Beecher, Dorris Jean Trust; brothers, Harry Hurley, Merlin Tucker; grandchildren, Alesha Smith (Jeff), David Battles (Sherri); great-grandchildren, Hannah Smith, Emma Smith and William Battles. Funeral service will be at Thursday, September 4, 2008 at 10 a.m at Kilgroe Funeral Home Leeds Chapel with Graveside Services at Edgemont cemetery in Anniston, at 12:30 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6-8 this evening at Kilgroe Funeral Home in Leeds. DALTON

ANNISTON — Irma Irene Dalton, 73, died Monday, September 1, 2008 at her residence. She is survived by a daughter, Linda Carol House; five sisters, Jewel Yeomans, Vola Bush, Dell Henry, Wynetta White, and Gail Mozelle Bryant; four grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A Baptist by faith, she was a kind and loving mother and wife, who valued her relationship with her family and was always ready and willing to help someone in need. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Dalton; her parents, Isaac and Carrie Henry; and two sons, Isaac Hunter Henry and Kenneth Dalton. A memorial service will be at a later date. COLLINSVILLE — Memorial service for Mrs. Mary Evelyn Graves, 66 will be 11a.m., Friday at Grace Point Church of God. Mrs. Graves died Monday in Collinsville Nursing home.

TUBBS

JACKSONVILLE — Funeral services for Mildred Irene Tubbs, 78, of Jacksonville, will be 2 p.m. Thursday, September 4, 2008 at Gray Brown Service Chapel with the Rev. Andrew Lambert officiating. Burial will follow at Anniston Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 this evening at the funeral home. Mrs. Tubbs died Monday at Jacksonville Medical Center.

Survivors include, son, Wayne Tubbs, of Jacksonville; brothers, Roy Kelley, Norman Kelley, Donald (Red) Kelley and his wife Jackie, Phil Kelley and wife Denise, all of Anniston. Mrs. Tubbs is preceded in death by husband, Oddis Tubbs; son, Thomas Tubbs; brothers, Ivan Cole, Frank Kelley, Eugene Kelley and Joseph Kelley.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Kelley, Blake Cotton, Johnny Kelley, Josh Kelley, Mitch Bolling and James Hearn. Mrs. Tubbs was a lifelong resident of Calhoun County and retired from F.M.C. Gray Brown-Service Mortuary in charge of arrangements. (256) 236-3441 Online Condolences at: www.mem.com

VINCENT

LINCOLN — Graveside service for Mrs. Myrtle Louise Vincent, age, 90 of Lincoln will be announced by Usrey-Brown-Service Funeral Home. Mrs. Vincent died at her residence.

WATKINS

OHATCHEE — Rose A. Watkins, 83, died September 1, 2008 at her residence in Ohatchee. K.L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center will be directing the arrangements. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Callaway and her husband, Lewis of Ohatchee, ; two sons, Arthur Watkins and his wife, Kaye of Weaver, and Richard Watkins of New Mexico; a brother, Leroy Addison of Johnstown, OH; six grandchildren; 12 great- grandchildren; one niece and one nephew. Mrs. Watkins was a member of the Church of Christ and a member of the Eastern Star Lodge in Patasakala, Ohio. She enjoyed working puzzles and playing board games, feeding and watching birds, squirrels and deer in her yard. Rose loved her family, friends and never met a stranger. She would do anything for anyone and loved doing what she could do. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dallas Watkins and her parents, Arthur and Irene Addison.

CHANEY

Services for Larry Raymond Chaney, 64, were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, at K.L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center Chapel. Rev. Lonnie Welch and Roger Boyd officiated. Burial was in Jacksonville City Cemetery.

Mr. Chaney died July 19 at Jacksonville Medical Center.

Survivors include two sisters and a brother-in-law Marie Batchelor and Gail and Richard Bivins all of Jacksonville and two brothers and a sister-in-law, Leon Chaney and William “Mo” and Pat Chaney, all of Jacksonville.

Pallbearers were nephews.

Mr. Chaney was a native and lifelong resident of Calhoun County and was formerly employed by Jacksonville State University.

His parents Walker and Lovella Chaney, two brothers Kenneth and Billy Chaney and two sisters Carolyn Taylor and Mary Dzeick preceded him in death.

CHANEY

Services for Pamela Penny Chaney, 60, were at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 20, at K.L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center Chapel. Revs. Lonnie Welch, Marshall Dye and Roger Boyd officiated. Burial was in Jacksonville City Cemetery.

Mrs. Chaney died July 18 at Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include a daughter, Ann Harvey of Jacksonville; a son, Brandon Davett of Jacksonville; two grandchildren; her father, Julian Clements of Bynum; a sister, Sherry Smith of Bynum; two sisters-in-law, Gail Bivins and her husband, Richard, of Jacksonville and Marie Batchelor, of Jacksonville; two brothers-in-law, William “Mo” Chaney and his wife Pat and Leon Chaney, all of Jacksonville; a special niece, Debbie Stowe; and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were nephews.

Mrs. Chaney was a native of Calhoun County and life long resident.

CURRY

A memorial service for Dorothy “Dottie” Burroughs Curry, 88, will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, July 24, in The Upper Room of First Baptist Church. Chaplain Jim Wilson officiated. Mrs. Curry died July 19 at Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include her husband, Marion Curry; two daughters and a son-in-law, Jan and Jim Reaves and Barbara Foote; a sister, Elizabeth Golden; three grandchildren; Matthew Grogan and his wife Rebecca, Nathan Foote and Duncan Foote; a great-grandson, Walker Harrison Grogan and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Curry was a member of Riverside Baptist Church and lived in the New Orleans area for over 60 years.

Memorial donations can be made to Habitat for Humanity or favorite charity.

MILLER

Services for Ruby M. Miller, 88, were at noon Thursday, July 17, at Chapel Hill Funeral Home Chapel. Revs. Samuel Hooper and Tommy Ballew officiated. Burial was in Jacksonville City Cemetery.

Mrs. Miller died July 14 at her residence

Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law Shirley J. Cockrell, Jewell D. and Charles Bright and Joyce Ann and Dennis Bateman; a son, Horace J. Jenkins; a sister, Rachel Smith; a brother, Cary G. Harris; seven grandchildren, Kenneth and Stephen Harris, Cindy Ramero and husband, Robert, Rodney, Timothy and Mike Jenkins, Charles Bevins; 10 great- grandchildren, Krystal Bolts, Holly Newman, David and Randy Harris, Anna Ramero, Malessa, Kaleb, Austin, Gaebril and Alyssa Jenkins; great-great-grandchildren, Michael Jacob and Joshua Tyler Bolts and Courtney Newman.

Pallbearers were Larry Ballew, Randell Fortenberry, Norris Fortenberry, Mike Jenkins, Harold Parris, Frank Bell and Norris Hunt.

Mrs. Miller was a Calhoun County native and lifelong resident of Jacksonville. Her husband Tommy Miller, son, James Jenkins and grandson Puncho Jenkins preceded her in death.
