ANNISTON — Funeral services for Carrie S. Pegg, 80, will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, August 31, 2008, at Gray Brown-Service Chapel with the Rev. Roy Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Weaver Cemetery. The family will receive friends this evening at the funeral home. Mrs. Pegg died Thurday at her residents.

MUNFORD — Funeral services for Mrs. Lois Jean Stephens, 74, will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, August 29, 2008, at the Munford Church of Christ with Minister Jeff Clark officiating. Burial will follow in Munford Cemetery. Mrs. Stephens passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2008, at her home in Munford, Alabama. She was born October 6, 1933 in Eastaboga, but had lived most of her life in Munford, where she was a homemaker. She was a 1952 graduate of Munford High School. She was a faithful member of the Munford Church of Christ. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Billy E. Stephens; three sons, Eddy Stephens (Pamela), of Mobile, Eugene Stephens (Cynthia), of Oxford, and Jay Kirk Stephens (Katherine), of Munford; one daughter, Connie Stephens, of Munford; one sister, Mrs. Sue Byrd, of DeArmanville; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Stephens, Ryan Stephens, and Donny Stephens, of Mobile, Mrs. Amanda Jones and Mrs. Kim Mayo, of Munford; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Kirkpatrick, and her brother, Mr. Lewis Harold (Preacher) Kirkpatrick, of Munford.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Stephens, Donny Stephens, Britt Weems, Justin Jones, Frank Mayo and Jeff Hughes. The family will receive friends at Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega from 6-9 this evening. There will be visitation at the church on Friday from 12-2 p.m. The family recognizes with grateful appreciation the assistance of Physicians Choice Dialysis, Regional Paramedics, Mid-South Home Health and Mrs. Janice Daniel, her personal caregiver. MONTGOMERY — Annie Varina Watson, 87, born in Rabbittown, Ala., on June 30, 1921, died in Montgomery, Ala. on August 29, 2008. She was the youngest of five children born to the late Mr. and Mrs. H.F. Watson in Calhoun County, Ala., and was the wife of the late COL. USAR (Ret.) Curtis C. Hall, whom she married
when they were both teenagers. Mrs. Hall was a long-time member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church where she taught first graders in Sunday School for 19 years. In later years, she was devoted to Young-At-Heart. She was also active in ABWA for many years. She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Bailey of Nashville, Tenn., and Jean Roberts and husband, Donald of Panama City, Fla.; two sons, Ray Hall and wife, Sandy of Coosada, Ala., and Randy Hall and wife, Anita of Hoover, Ala.; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother-in-law, Wallace Hall and wife Madrid of Weaver, Ala.; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by one grandson, Nathan Hall.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hall will be at on Monday, September 1, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Leak-Memory Chapel with The Rev. Michael Cassity officiating. Internment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will greet friends and relatives at Leak-Memory Chapel one hour prior to the service. FT. WALTON, Fla. — Obie Arlon Smith, 77, went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 29, 2008, at the Emerald Coast Sacred Heart Hospital. Arlon was born on July 5, 1931, in London, Alabama. He was in the pulpwood, timber, and land business before moving to Florida in 1990. Arlon and his family moved from Anniston and settled in the Miramar Beach area, where he enjoyed life..friends, neighbors, church, boating, and especially his grandchildren. He said as a child he never thought that he would ever live in such a beautiful place. Arlon is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Louise Smith; three children, Sonny Smith, Jocie Taft, and Shawn Phillips; fifteen grandchildren, Garrett, Okley, and Audrey Smith, Callan Taft, and Case, Carter, Camron, Caden, Callahan, Cara, Carsey, Carston, and Carrington Phillips, Hali Vice, and Nichole Williams; a great- grandchild, Lennon Arlon Smith; and sister, Diane Haney. A celebration of his life will be at 4 p.m. today, August 31, 2008, at Destiny Worship Center, Miramar Beach. Interment will be at Gulf Cemetery.

ROANOKE — Funeral services for Roger Donald Brown, 59, will be at today at 3:00 p.m. from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with The Rev. Bobby Burroughs and The Rev. Randall Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens. Mr. Brown died Saturday, August 30, 2008.
Survivors include his wife, Joan Jackson Brown of Roanoke; one daughter, Gena Teague (husband, Cliff) of Edwardsville; one son, Chase Brown (wife, Keila) of Roanoke; one sister, Evelyn Powell of Tallapoosa, Ga.; two brothers, Dwight Brown and Ronald Brown, both of Fruithurst; and four grandchildren. A former Cleburne County resident, Mr. Brown was born January 8, 1949, son of Eugene and Grace Biggers Brown. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and had been employed with Anniston Army Depot. Quattlebaum Funeral Home, Roanoke, is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Howell passed away Sunday, August 31, 2008 at her residence. Mrs. Howell is survived by her husband, Benny Howell; Sons, Chris Howell and Matt (Cheryl) Howell of Anniston; mother, Gladys McDonald of Talladega; sisters, Mary Lou Fuller of Talladega, Lessie Gannon of Arizona, and Kathey Bowen of Calhoun, Ga.; brothers, Buddy Langley of Pell City and Jimmy Langley of Cocoa, Fla.; four grandchildren, Andrew Howell, Anna Howell, Lexie Howell and Colby Gortney.

Mrs. Howell was preceded in death by her fathers, William (Bill) Thomas Gannon and Guy W. Howell. A native of Talladega, Mrs. Howell was a resident of Calhoun County most of her live.
