John Montgomery
Penn’s Funeral Home, Monroeville
John Montgomery, 49, of Burnsville, Minn. died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2008 at his home.
Montgomery was a native of Vredenburgh and lived in Monroe County most of his youth. He graduated from high school in the Detroit Public School System. He also received a BA degree in business from Wayne State University in Detroit, Mich. He had been employed with General Motors for 30 years.
Survivors include his wife, Gail Montgomery of Burnsville; his mother, Lucy Montgomery of Detroit; two daughters, Valencia Montgomery and Morriah Montgomery, both of Burnsville; and one sister, Beverly Montgomery of Detroit.
A burial committal service will be held Saturday, Feb. 16 at 10 a.m. at St. Matthew Church Cemetery in Chestnut with Rev. Billy G. Russell officiating.

Sandra “San-man” Perkins
Jones Unity Funeral Home, Monroeville
Sandra “San-man” Perkins, 18, of Frisco City died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008 in an automobile accident in Baldwin County.
Perkins was a native of Clarke County. She graduated from Frisco City High School in 2007 and was currently attending Reid State Tech College of cosmetology. She was expecting to graduate in July with certification. She was engaged to be married on Feb. 24, 2008 to Terrance Black of Beatrice. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Frisco City where she sang in the choir.
Survivors include her fiancé, Terrance Black; her mother, Lizzie Perkins of Frisco City; a son, Davion Lavointa Perkins of Frisco City; a daughter, Arieyana Zikeria Perkins of Frisco City; six brothers, Thomas Perkins, Willie (Alisa) Perkins, Michael Slauther, all of Frisco City, Kenny Perkins of Macon, Ga., Harold Perkins of Mobile, Johnny McClain of Manila; and seven sisters, Alesia (Leroy) Davis of Mobile, Patricia (Kenneth) Franklin of Fayetteville, Ga., Brenda (James) Sweat of Fairburn, Ga., Sharon (Steve) Smith of College Park, Ga., Lillie V. Perkins of Stockbridge, Ga., Annie Barnes Cheese of Mavico, and Veronica (Sam) Walker of North Carolina.
Services were held Saturday, Feb. 9 at 10 a.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church in Frisco City with Rev. Sandy A. McQueen, pastor, officiating. Burial followed in McConnico Cemetery in Perdue Hill.

Kirby Ray Styron
Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home, Brewton
Kirby Ray Stryon, 72, of Range died Friday, Feb. 1, 2008 in Mobile.
Stryon was born in Bay Minette and was a retired warehouse manager with Florida Seed.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mabeth L. Styron and a sister, Carolyn Louise Keel.
Survivors include one son, David R. (Janice S.) Styron of Atmore; one daughter, Janet (Harold) Allen of Atmore; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services were held Sunday, Feb. 3 at 2:30 p.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home chapel with Bro. Mike Grindle and Bro. Aubrey White officiating. Burial followed in Oak Hill cemetery.
The family requests that donations be made to the Children’s Hospital.

Victoria L. Weaver
Jones Unity Funeral Home, Monroeville
Victoria L. “Vickie” Weaver died on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008.
Weaver was born in Blacksher and attended Bay Minette High School in Bay Minette. She and her husband relocated to New York, N.Y. in the early 1960.s
She was preceded in death by a son, Charles L. Weaver.
Survivors include her husband, Charles J. Weaver two children, Christopher Weaver and Sandy Weaver; brothers, Albert French, Abraham French, Samuel French, and Adam French; sisters, Lula Pearl Williams, Judy Sanders, and Katie Mae French; one daughter-in-law, Daphne Weaver; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 16 at 1 p.m. at Tate Creek Baptist Church in Little River. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Raymond Dennis “Deno” Booker
Monroe Chapel, Monroeville
Raymond Dennis “Deno” Booker, 39, of Acworth, Ga. died Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at his home.
Booker was born in Monroeville and had been a resident of Acworth for the past 10 years. He was a former resident of Lucedale, Miss. He graduated from George County High School and attended Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. He graduated Sigma Cum Laude from Auburn University where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing. He worked as a manager for Washington Mutual Bank and was a member of Mt. Paran Church of God in Acworth.
Survivors include his father, Dennis Booker of Lucedale and his mother, Linda Gayle Waters Booker of Acworth; two step-brothers, Charles Thomas (C.T.) Weatherford of Lucedale and Austin Voytko of Gulfport, Miss.; and one sister, Sonya (Chad) Mentz of Covington, La.
Services were held Saturday, March 8 at 2 p.m. at Monroe Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Douglas Waters officiating. Burial followed in Oakdale Assembly Cemetery in Repton.

Mary Jane Lyon Brown
Johnson Funeral Home, Monroeville
Mary Jane Lyon Brown, 75, of Beatrice died Monday, March 10, 2008 at Monroe Manor Nursing Home.
Brown was a native and lifelong resident of Monroe County and had been the registrar at Alabama Southern Community College for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Julius “Buster” Brown.
Survivors include one son, Mike (Margaret) Brown of Beatrice; one daughter, Beverly Salter of Burnt Corn; three sisters, Betty Duke of Meridian, Miss., Sara Hamby of Selma and Bobbie Winters of Demopolis; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services were held Wednesday, March 12 at 10 a.m. at Beatrice Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Harden officiating. Burial followed in Indian Springs Cemetery in McWilliams.

Margaret A. Crawford-Chatman
Penn’s Funeral Home, Monroeville
Margaret A. Crawford-Chatman, 61, of Beatrice died Sunday, March 9, 2008 at Baptist South Hospital in Montgomery.
Chatman was a native of Beatrice and a lifelong resident of Monroe County. She was a homemaker and a member of Cathedral of Faith Christian Center where she was a church mother.
Survivors include four sons, Keith Crawford Sr. of Pascagoula, Miss., Regis Crawford of Mobile, Richard Chatman of Camden and Jeremy Chatman of Tacoma, Wash.; two daughters, Margaret Crawford-Jones of Monroeville and Doris Montgomery of Beatrice; six brothers, Johnny Joe Mims of Cleveland, Ohio, Charles Stallworth of Chicago, Ill., Leroy Stallworth of Beatrice, Charlie Sanders of Moss Point, Miss., Rev. Clarence Sanders of Monroeville and William Sanders of Brooklyn, N.Y.; seven sisters, Roberta Gilmore of Biloxi, Miss., Sally Govan of Compton, Calif., Elizabeth Marshall, Mary Weatherspoon, Shirley Watts, Dorothy Tate, all of Pensacola, Fla. and Betty Marshall of Beatrice; 23 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 14 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Penn’s chapel. Services will be held Saturday, March 15 at 2 p.m. at Cathedral of Faith Christian Center of Beatrice with Apostle Reginald Stallworth officiating. Burial will follow at Turning Bull Cemetery in Beatrice.

Annie Morris Jaye

Annie Morris Jaye, 100, of Mineola died Saturday, March 8, 2008 at her home.
Jaye was a lifelong resident of Mineola and was a homemaker.
Survivors include three sons, Travis O’Neil (Doris) Jaye of Tiverton, R.I. and Kenneth (Doris) Jaye of Mineola and James Edward “Jimmy” (Emma) Jaye of Vinton, La.; two daughters, Alberta (Henry) Hendickerson of Ocala, Fla. and Myra (Kenneth) Saucer of Goodway; one brother, Jessie Floyd Morris of Mineola; 25 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; 29 great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandchild.
Services were held Wednesday, March 12 at 2 p.m. at the Mineola Baptist Church with Rev. Bob McKenzie, Rev. W.C. Stabler, Rev. Ray Conway and Rev. Marlin Brown officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Ada Mae McInnis
Johnson Funeral Home, Monroeville
Ada Mae McInnis, 95, of Repton died Friday, March 7, 2008 in a local hospital.
McInnis was a native and lifelong resident of Repton and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. She was a retired lunchroom manager for the Repton School System.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence W. McInnis and one son, John McInnis.
Survivors include two sons, James M. McInnis of Arlington, Va. and Donald Lee McInnis of Repton; two daughters, Mary Elizabeth Blase of Mobile and Helen F. Moon of Lanhan, Md.; two brothers, Davis Owens of Monroeville and Ed Owens of Evergreen; 13 grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren.
Services were held Sunday, March 9 at 2 p.m. at the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Repton with the Rev. E.J. Waters officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Frances Genese Morris Meshell
Monroe Chapel, Monroeville
Frances Genese Morris Meshell, 64, of Excel died Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at Monroe County Hospital.
Meshell was a resident of Excel and a member of Annunciation Catholic Church in Monroeville. She was a licensed practical nurse and worked at Monroe County Hospital for several years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elders James Meshell.
Survivors include three sons, Tony Rider, Marty Meshell and Thomas Meshell, all of Excel; three daughters, Kay Rider and Mandy Hooper, both of Frisco City and Missy Gage of Excel; two brothers, Thomas Morris and Joseph Morris, both of Frisco City; one sister, Alice Lassiter of Peterman; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held Saturday, March 8 at 11 a.m. at Monroe Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Johnson officiating. Burial followed in Excel Cemetery.

Margaret Henderson Nall
Cope Funeral Home, Evergreen
Margaret Henderson Nall, 88, of Repton died Friday, March 7, 2008 at Monroe County Hospital.
Nall was born in Conecuh County and was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Belton Nall.
Survivors include three sons, Glenn Nall of Castleberry, Rayburn Nall of Crestview, Fla. and Thomas Nall of Pensacola, Fla.; three daughters, Virginia Martin of Robertsdale, Marjorie Shires of Pensacola, Fla. and Linda Ritchie of Clanton; two sisters, Viola Heaton of Crestview and Ann Crum of Long Beach, Miss.; 14 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Tuesday, March 11 at 10 a.m. at the chapel of Cope Funeral Home. Burial followed in Ramah Primitive Baptist Cemetery.
