Earl Henry Lett, 80, of Tunnel Springs died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2007 at West Florida Hospital.
Lett was a native of Monroe County and a member of Antioch Baptist Church of Tunnel Springs. He had a master’s degree from Tennessee State in Nashville in administration education. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Peterman, Scottish Rite, a church Board of Trustees, president of the Retired Teachers Association and a S.W. Water Board Member.
Survivors include two brothers, Freddy (Minnie) Lett of Jersey City, N.J. and Joseph (Christine) Lett of Louisville, Ky.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 15 at 11 a.m. at Antioch Baptist Church in Tunnel Springs with Rev. Whalen Oliver officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Henry Montgomery Jr.
Penn’s Funeral Home, Monroeville
Henry Montgomery Jr., 66, of Queens, N.Y. died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2007 at his home.
Montgomery was a native of Queens. He worked at Trinity Management of Manhattan, N.Y. as a maintenance operator and was a member of Zion Baptist Church in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Montgomery; two sons, Henry Montgomery of Hampstead, N.Y. and Kenneth J. Montgomery of Brooklyn; one daughter, Sylvia Montgomery of Hampstead; two brothers, Willie Sam Montgomery of Queens and Daniel Montgomery of Beatrice; four sisters, Dorothy Sims of Hampstead, Angela Montgomery of Chestnut, Ida Brown of California and Nellie Mae of Detroit, Mich; and seven grandchildren.
Visitation will be Monday, Dec. 17 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Penn’s Chapel. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 18 at 1 p.m. at St. Matthew Baptist Church with Rev. Issac Bradley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Annie Pearl Odom, 72, of Oak Hill died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2007 at Crowne Healthcare in Greenville.
She was a native of Oak Hill and lived in Monroe County all of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of Hopewell CME Church in Oak Hill.
Survivors include four sons, Shine Ramsey of Gardena, Calif., Andrew Ramsey of Compton, Calif., Ernest Ramsey of Inglewood, Calif. and Calvin Ramsey of Oakhill; five daughters, Joann Spencer of Downy, Calif., Maple Snow and Phennie Elliot, both of Oakhill, Catherine Welch of Snowhill and Katrina Lewis of Victorville, Calif.; one sister, Lela Pearl Bridges of Cleveland, Ohio; 38 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Friday, Dec. 14 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Penn’s Chapel. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 15 at 3 p.m. at Hopewell CME Church of Oakhill with Rev. Gwendolyn Swift officiating. Burial will follow in Rosebud Cemetery in Oak Hill.
Betty Louise Powell
Cope Funeral Home, Evergreen
Betty Louise Powell, 72, of Peterman died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007 at Monroe County Hospital.
Powell was born in Hazlehurst, Ga. and was a retired apparel supervisor.
Survivors include her husband, Joe Powell, of Evergreen; a daughter, Cathy (Wayne) Robinson of Peterman; three brothers, Bobby Hand of Camden, Raymond Hand of Guam and Carl Hand Jr. of Phoenix, Ariz.; five sisters, Billie Deason of Camden, Tenn., May Sanford and Brenda Crosby, both of Hazlehurst, and Elizabeth Crystal and Yvonne Music, both of Pensacola, Fla., three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services were held Monday, Dec. 10 at 6:30 p.m. at the Chapel of Cope Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Hazlehurst at a later date.
Felon Jerry Riley

Felon Jerry Riley of Goodway died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007 at Monroe County Hospital.
Riley was a native of Conecuh County, a veteran and a member of Goodway Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by a son, Gregory D. Riley.
Survivors include his wife, Billie G. Riley of Goodway; one daughter, Caroline R. Hall of Foley; two brothers, Francis Riley of Albertville and Winston Riley of Wilmer; one sister, Joyce Garrett of Carrolton, Ga.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held Tuesday, Dec. 11 at 11 a.m. from Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Dunn officiating. Burial followed in Sowell Old Field Cemetery.
Michael Devon Williams

Michael Devon Williams, 30, of Frisco City died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2007 at USA Hospital in Mobile.
Williams was a native of Clarke County and a graduate of Monroe County High School. He was a spreader for Vanity Fair.
Survivors include his father, Freddie (Ann) Lee Williams of Houston, Texas; his mother, Wanda (Luman) Goodman of Frisco City; one son, Amari Williams of Monroeville; one step-brother, Christopher Denson of Frisco City; one sister, Tammie (Gerald) Andrews of Monroeville; and one step-sister, Tywanda Denson of Frisco City.
Services were held Sunday, Dec. 9 at 3 p.m. at Mackey Branch #1 Baptist Church in Gosport. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mollie Morrow Booker
Cope Funeral Home, Evergreen
Mollie Morrow Booker, 89, of Evergreen died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008 at Evergreen Nursing Home in Evergreen.
Booker was born in Evergreen and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Community Christ Church.
Survivors include three sons, William Gabriel (Marilyn) Booker Jr. of Gulf Shores; David Lee (Juliette) Booker and Jimmy (Inez) Booker, both of Evergreen; five daughters, Joyce (Joe) Weaver of Brewton, Helen (Carlton) Norwood of Irvington, Ruby Phillipi, Mary Charles (Glenn) Brown and Willene (Bennie) Taylor, all of Evergreen; two brothers, John (Martha) Morrow of Birmingham and Willie (Betty) Morrow of Ozark; a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Services were held Friday, Jan. 4 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Cope Funeral Home. Burial followed in Lonestar Cemetery.

Annie Pearl Bowman, 91, of Foley died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008 in Golden Living Center in Foley.
Bowman was born in Conecuh County and was a hair stylist.
Graveside services were held Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Bermuda Methodist Cemetery in Evergreen.
Robert Darrell Hives Sr.
Penn’s Funeral Home, Monroeville
Robert Darrell Hives Sr., 43, of Perdue Hill died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008 in a motorcycle accident.
Hives was a native of Mobile but had lived in Monroe County most of his life. He served in the Army for four years and was a construction worker. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church of Frisco City.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel Hives of Perdue Hill; his father and stepmother, Rev. S.L. and Christine Hives of Sweetwater; his mother, Annie Lee Hives of Mobile; one son, Robert Hives Jr. of Montgomery; two daughters, Vanity Hives of Perdue Hill and Takira Hives of Atlanta, Ga.; four brothers, Rayford Parker and Sammie Hives Jr., both of Mobile, Benovah Hives and Roderick Vincent, both of Montgomery; five sisters, Vanetta Holloway and Elzora Hives, both of Columbus, Ohio, Thoris McConell of Mobile, Shiwan Vincent and Cassandra Washington, both of Sweetwater; and one grandchild.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Jan. 10 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Penn’s Chapel. Services will be held Friday, Jan. 11 at 12 p.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church in Frisco City with Rev. S.L. Hives Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in McConnico Cemetery in Perdue Hill.
John Edwin Jeter

John Edwin Jeter, 57, died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007.
Jeter was native of Atmore, a resident of Uriah for the past 35 years and attended the Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Jeter; a brother, Danny Jeter; and his stepfather, Willard Cumbie.
Survivors include his mother, Effie Cumbie of Uriah; three sons, John Edwin “Bubba” Jeter Jr. of Uriah, James Edwin Morris of Nokomis and Mickey D. Hamilton of Atmore; two daughters, Jenelle Lynn Jeter of Flomaton and Samantha Jane Jeter of Huxford; one brother, Earl Jeter of Atmore; four sisters, Sherry Buckhault of Little Rock, Cheryl Matthews of Repton, Marilyn Peavy of Uriah and Patsy Taylor of Excel; 18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held Wednesday, Dec. 19 at 2 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Charles McGhee and Rev. Mark Whittington officiating. Burial followed in Lindsey Cemetery.
Kenneth Rodger Johnson
Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope
Kenneth Rodger Johnson, age 57, died Tuesday, December 25, 2007 in Monroeville.
Johnson was a resident of Monroeville for over 15 years. He was a Vietnam Veteran and served for seven years in the U. S. Air Force as an air traffic controller. Johnson was a Senior Technician for Applied Technical Services of Mobile and worked at Alabama River Pulp as a contractor.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Hale Johnson of Monroeville; his mother, June (Julian) Driver of Decatur; his father, Bruce (Francis) Johnson of Germantown, Tenn.; one stepson, Jeremy Higdon of Hollywood, Calif.; and two sisters, Patricia Johnson and
Sarah Sims, both of Robbinsville, N.C.
Graveside services were held Sunday, Dec. 30 at 3:00 p.m. at Racom Cemetery in Mexia.
