Rosie Nell Brooks, 87, of Frisco City died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2007 in Troy.
Brooks was a native and lifelong resident of Monroe County and a member of the Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by a son, Johnny Van Orden.
Survivors include one sister, Evie Blanton Yeomans of Monroeville.
Services were held Saturday, Oct. 13 at 2 p.m. at Monroe Chapel Funeral Home. Burial followed in Monroe Chapel Cemetery in Frisco City.

Owen McKinley
Monroe Chapel, Monroeville
Owen McKinley, 71, of Eden, Ga. died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2007 in Thomasville.
McKinley was a native of Franklin and had resided in Eden since 1980. He was a member of the First Spring Hill Baptist Church of Franklin. He retired from the U.S. Army as a Staff Sergeant after 20 years of service. He was a veteran of Korea and Vietnam.
Survivors include his wife, Mary McKinley of Eden; two sons, William McKinley of Atlanta, Ga. and James McKinley of Astor, Fla.; three daughters, Kathleen McKinley of Germany, Wendy Williams of Eden and Michelle Morgan of Rincon; three brothers, Leon McKinley of Beatrice, Claude McKinley of Camden and Sam McKinley of McCullough; four sisters, Mary Owens of Frisco City, Betty Higginbotham and Ilene McKinley, both of Franklin and Jewell Turberville of Monroeville; and nine grandchildren.
Services were held Tuesday, Oct. 16 at 11 a.m. at First Spring Hill Baptist Church of Franklin with Rev. Herman McMillian officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Bertha L. Mosley
Penn’s Funeral Home, Monroeville
Bertha L. Mosley, 85, of Monroeville died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2007 at her home.
Mosley was native and lifelong resident of Monroe County. She was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, George Taggart of Detroit, Mich., William “Pig” Mosley of Monroeville and Patrick Montgomery of Stone Mountain, Ga.; eight daughters, Sue Williams - Everman of Texas, Theresa “Tweety” Hollinger and Crystal Hollinger, both of Stone Mountain, Sharon Mosley and Barbara Flories, both of Monroeville, Vivian Parker and Vanessa Montgomery, both of Jonesboro, Ga., and Gayle Larkins of College Park, Ga.; 33 grandchildren; and 44 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Wednesday, Oct. 17 at 2 p.m. at Morning Star Baptist Church in Monroeville with Rev. John Tucker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

David “Buddy” Perkins
Jones Unity Funeral Home, Monroeville
David “Buddy” Perkins, 77, of Frisco City died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2007 at his home.
Perkins was a native of Wilcox County but had lived in Monroe County for many years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a retired industrial worker in cosmetics. He was a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Survivors include his wife, Eloise Perkins of Pensacola, Fla.; four sons, Grady (Francis) Perkins and Ernest (Melvina) Perkins, both of Pensacola, Master Sgt. Daryl (Alvira) Perkins of Jacksonville, N.C. and Fredrick Hicks of Bay Shore N.Y.; four daughters, Alma P. Evans, Mary Ann Kidd and Christine Belton, all of Pensacola and Linda Rodgers of Mobile; one brother, Willie Beverly of Mobile; one sister, Minnie Bell Dudley of Frisco City; 12 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 20 at 2:30 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home chapel with Evangelist Nellie Kidd officiating. Burial will follow in Bright Morning Star Cemetery in Frisco City.

Bonnie Sue Ryals
Johnson Funeral Home, Monroeville
Bonnie Sue Ryals, 69, of Repton died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2007 in a local nursing facility.
Ryals was a native and lifelong resident of Conecuh County and attended the Ramah Primitive Baptist Church in Lenox.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Lavon and Carl Ryals and two sisters, Mavis Ryals and Mildred (Robert) Brooks.
Survivors include one sister, Sara (Ray) Brantley of Lenox; two brothers, Harold (Judy) Ryals of Milbrook and Jack Ryals of Abbeville; and two sisters-in-law, Pauline Ryals of Brewton and Carol Ryals-Simpkins of Repton.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Oct. 18 from noon until 2 p.m. in Johnson Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. in the chapel with Rev. Benjamin Young officiating. Burial will follow in the Ramah Cemetery in Lenox.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Ramah Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 266, Repton, AL. 36475. This fund was started by Jessie Ryals in 1975.

Frank T. Salter
Cope Funeral Home, Evergreen
Frank T. Salter, 82, of Evergreen died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2007 in Evergreen Nursing Home.
Salter was a retired probate judge of Conecuh County.
Survivors include a brother, Wiley Salter of Evergreen; and two sisters, Kathleen Salter Oakes of Peterman and Anna McCollum of Montgomery.
Services were held Friday, Oct. 12 at 11 a.m. at the chapel of Cope Funeral Home. Burial followed in Lone Star Cemetery in Peterman.

Wendy Gail Whitaker
Monroe Chapel, Monroeville
Wendy Gail Whitaker, 39, of Memphis, Tenn. died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2007.
Whitaker was a native of Thomasville and had lived in Memphis for the past five years. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Whitaker.
Survivors include her mother, Alice Mooney of Frisco City and four sisters, Sandy Soukup, Nicki Hines, Robbin Taylor and Angie Dates, all of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.
Services were held Tuesday, Oct. 16 at 11 a.m. at Mineola Baptist Church with Rev. Marlon J. Brown officiating.

Clara E. Wiggins
Jones Unity Funeral Home, Monroeville
Clara E. Wiggins, 80, of Peterman died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2007 at Mobile Infirmary.
Wiggins was a native and lifelong resident of Monroe County. She was a domestic worker and a member of Antioch #1 Baptist Church where she served on the Usher Board, sang in the choir, was a member of the Matron Department and the Missionary Society.
Survivors include one son, Gerald Wiggins of Peterman; two daughters, Carlie (Robert) Davis of Peterman and Patsy Stallworth of Monroeville; two sisters, Rosie Mobley of Monroeville and Flora Moore of Mobile; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services were held Tuesday, Oct. 16 at 1 p.m. at Antioch #1 Baptist Church in Tunnel Springs with Rev. Whalen Oliver, pastor, officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Johnnie Rae Byrd
Monroe Chapel, Monroeville
Johnnie Rae Byrd, 98, died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007 in Monroeville.
Byrd was a lifelong resident of Monroe County and a member of the First Baptist Church in Frisco City. She was also an inactive member of the Monroe County Rescue Squad.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Andy Byrd and a sister, Bennie Barbara Reynolds.
Services were held Monday, Dec. 10 at 2 p.m. at Monroe Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Mark McCullough officiating. Burial followed in Union Cemetery in Frisco City.
The family request that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the Alabama Baptist Children’s Home.

Cora Dukes
Penn’s Funeral Home, Monroeville
Cora Dukes, 78, of Clausell died Friday, Dec. 7, 2007 at Monroe County Hospital.
Dukes was a native of Monroeville and a lifelong resident of Monroe County. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Peter Baptist Church.
Visitation will be held Friday, Dec. 14 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Penn’s Chapel. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 15 at 11 a.m. at St. Peter Baptist Church in Franklin with Rev. Matthew Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

James Holan Evans
Monroe Chapel, Monroeville
James Holan Evans, 64, of Frisco City died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2007 in Monroeville.
Evans was a native of Monroe County and resided in Frisco City. He was a member and deacon of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Frisco City and a member of the Excel Masonic Lodge. He worked in the maintenance department at Alabama River Pulp.
Survivors include his wife, Elsie Evans of Frisco City; one son, James H. (Connie) Evans II of Mexia; three daughters, Tina Evans (Eddie) Upton and Kimberly Evans, both of Frisco City and Hollie Evans (Eddie) Snow of Uriah; one sister, Lenora Evans (Aubrey) Tatum of Atmore; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 13 at 2 p.m. at Monroe Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Davis, Rev. Matthew Davis and Rev. Clayton Barnes officiating. Burial will follow in Baas Memorial Cemetery in Frisco City.
