Mary Olga Garrett Vice, 100, died Friday, Feb. 9, 2007.
Vice was born in McWilliams and lived in Frisco City most of her life. She was a schoolteacher and received her degree from the University of Montevallo. She had resided in Pensacola, Fla. for the past three years. She was a member of Frisco City Methodist Church.
Survivors include two children, Marion (Gene) Hawks and Dan Vice, both of Pensacola; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services were held Wednesday, Feb. 14 at 2 p.m. at Frisco City United Methodist Church with Rev. Don Davitz officiating. Burial followed in Union Cemetery.
Little Evin Andress
Monroe Chapel Funeral Home, Monroeville
Little Evin Andress, 70, of Mexia died Saturday, May 26, 2007 in Birmingham.
Andress was a lifelong resident of Monroe County and a member of Mexia Baptist Church where he was a deacon. He was also a member of Monroeville Masonic Lodge and a veteran of the Korea War.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Frances Andress of Mexia; one son, Evin “Lee” (Melanie) Andress of Monroeville; one daughter, Mary Lisa (Chris) Feathers of Johnson City, Tenn.; one sister, Fay Helton of Monroeville and five grandchildren.
Services were held Monday, May 28 at 10 a.m. at Monroe Chapel with Rev. Wayne McMillian and Rev. Hixon Helton officiating. Burial followed in Mexia Cemetery.
Rev. Fred Edward Brown
Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, Atmore
Rev. Fred Edward Brown, 88, died Friday, May 25, 2007 in Atmore.
Brown was a native of Eliska and a resident of Atmore since 1942. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, American Legion, VFW and a member and Pastor Emeritus of the New Bethlehem Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Fred Brown of Atmore; one son, Edward C. (Joyce) Brown of Atmore; one daughter, Frances (Ray) Holt of Flomaton; one stepson, Kevin Gleem (Tina) Presley of Atmore; one sister, Ethel (Leon) Strength; one stepdaughter, Tereasa Lynn Presley of Atmore; four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild.
Services were held Monday, May 28 at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Pat Andrews, Rev. Mark Brown, Rev. Ron McGhee and Bro. Bo Brantley officiating. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Charlie Lewis Bryant

Charlie Lewis Bryant, 65, of Frisco City died Thursday, May 24, 2007 at Springhill Memorial Hospital in Mobile.
Bryant was a native of Frisco City and a lifelong resident of Monroe County. He was a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church in Perdue Hill where he was a deacon and chairman of the church. He was also a member of Morning Star Masonic Lodge #243.
Survivors include his wife, Irma L. Bryant of Frisco City; his mother, Mrs. Lucy Bryant of Perdue Hill; one son, Charlie A. Bryant of Frisco City; three daughters, Brenda Bryant and Anita Knight, both of Montgomery and Pauline Dailey of Frisco City; one brother, Eugene Bryant of Frisco City; two sisters, Floretta Burroughs of Frisco City and Bertha Williams of Excel; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services were held Wednesday, May 30 at 2 p.m. at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church in Perdue Hill with Rev. John King officiating. Burial followed in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery in Frisco City.
Charles Douglas “Doug” Conner

Charles Douglas “Doug” Conner, 70, of Mableton, Ga. died Saturday, May 26, 2007 at his residence.
Conner was a native of Conecuh County and had served in the U.S. Air Force as a safety manager.
Survivors include his wife, Thera Watson Conner of Mableton; his mother, Mrs. Lula Conner of Orange Beach; one son, Bill Conner of Douglasville, Ga.; four daughters, Dede Mateyko of Inwood, W. Va., Mona Eaton of Covington, Ga., Renee Coker of Montgomery and Cinda Snodgrass of Powder Springs, Ga.; two brothers, John Conner of Mobile and Maury Conner of Tallassee; two sisters, Wilda Barnes and Glenda Lee, both of Orange Beach; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services were held Tuesday, May 29 at 2 p.m. at Bermuda Methodist Church with Rev. Susan Allen Grady officiating. Burial followed in the Bermuda Cemetery.

Clark Nelson Harris, 60, died Saturday, May 26, 2007 at Monroe County Hospital.
Harris was a native of Monroe County and a resident of Mobile.
Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Frances Grantham Harris of Mineola.
Services were held Tuesday, May 29 at 10 a.m. at Little River Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Robert Bush Horton Sr.
Penn’s Funeral Home, Monroeville
Robert Bush Horton Sr., 56, of Frisco City died Saturday, May 26, 2007 at Monroe County Hospital.
Horton was a native of Whatley and had lived in Monroe County for a number of years. He was a farmer.
Survivors include two sons, Akim Dunlap of Cleveland, Ohio and Robert Bush Horton Jr. of Monroeville; two brothers, Marshall Horton and Charlie Horton, both of Frisco City; five sisters, Ora Lee Welch of Whatley, Gussie Horton Blount of Frisco City, Ruby Burrell, Ralph Jenkins, Jeannie McGinnis, all of Cleveland and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 2 at 11 a.m. at Penn’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. W.E. Hill officiating. Burial will follow in Indian Ridge Baptist Church in Whatley.
Ellen Marie Johnson Jackson

Ellen Marie Johnson Jackson, 36, died Saturday, May 26, 2007 at Mobile Infirmary Hospital.
Jackson was a native of Excel and a resident of Gainestown. She was employed with Clarke County Long Term Recovery and was a member of Gainestown A.O.H. Church.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry Jackson; one daughter, Erine Jackson; one son, Jaylen Jackson, all of Gainestown; her mother, Loree Murphy of Monroeville; four sisters, Katrina Rena Johnson, Beulah Davis, Tiffany Johnson, all of Monroeville and Linda (Barry) Likely of Evergreen; one brother, Leo Johnson of Michigan; her grandmother, Mary Lee Brown of Excel; her father and mother-in-law; Travis and Luereader Jackson of Gainestown.
Viewing will be held Saturday, June 2 at 10 a.m. followed by services at 11 a.m. at Gainestown A.O.H. Church in Gainestown. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Maude Muller Culbreth Jones

Maude Muller Culbreth Jones, 90, of Evergreen died Monday, May 28, 2007 at Mobile Infirmary.
Jones was a native of Conecuh County.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Douglas Burt and Carey Jones Jr.
Survivors include three sons, Mickey Burt of Evergreen, Benny Burt of Navarre Beach, Fla. and Jimmy Jones of Mobile; four daughters, Karen Jones of Excel, Billie Jean Quinley of Mobile, Patsy Boykin and Betty Cagle, both of Mobile; two sisters, Christine Tatum of Mobile and Gwendolyn Browne of Sebring, Fla. and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 31 at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Baptist Church with Rev. Oliver Cagle and Dr. Royce Dubose officiating. Burial will follow in Witherington Cemetery in Evergreen.
