PHILLIP WILLIAM ALVERSON SR.
SYLACAUGA Funeral service for Phillip W. Alverson Sr., 59, was Monday at 3 p.m. at Weogufka Family Worship Center in Weogufka with the Rev. Tommy Thornton officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mr. Alverson died July 25 at Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham. He was a 1966 graduate of Auburn University and held a degree in pharmacy. He owned and operated Alaco Discount Pharmacy in Sylacauga for many years and worked at CVS Pharmacy before retiring in 1998. He was a member of Weogufka Family Worship Center, where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was a devoted husband and father, a godly man who will be greatly missed by his family and friends whose lives he touched over many years.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl; daughter, Jill Porier Bowden; son, Phillip Alverson, all of Sylacauga; mother, Irene Alverson of Pell City; brother, Mitchell Alverson of Pell City; sister, Jacqueline Davenport of Atlanta, Ga.; and four grandchildren, Bethany Bowden Marks, John Bowden, Rebecca Bowden and Elizabeth Alverson.
Pallbearers were his nephews, Tom Hudgins, Wade Alverson, Craig Alverson, Judd Alverson, Ken Dorough and Keith Dorough.
Honorary pallbearers were the deacons of Weogufka Family Worship Center.
Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel, Sylacauga, directed the service.

TALLADEGA Graveside service for Margie Lakey Day, 87, was Sunday, July 27, at 3 p.m. in Oak Hill Cemetery
with the Rev. Kenneth Bullard officiating.
Mrs. Day died July 25 at her residence. A native of Clay County, she lived most of her life in Talladega County and was a member of First Baptist Church of Talladega. She owned Margies Beauty Salon and was active in hairdressing for more than 60 years.
She is survived by a daughter, Betty Sue Wright of Talladega; a son, Walter Edward Roberson of Corpus Christi Texas; five grandchildren, Tony L. Rutledge, Mark Edward Roberson, Katherine Elizabeth Rooks, Jennifer Darlene Turner and Sarah Alexandra Larsen; three stepgrandchildren, Dwayne Rhodes, Darrin Rhodes and Teressa Rhodes; nine great-grandsons; two great-granddaughters; and one great-great-granddaughter.
Friends and family members served as pallbearers.
Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega directed the service.

JACKSONVILLE, Ark. Tom Frank Clark Jr., 70, formerly of Ashland, died July 28 at Redsomen Hospital in Jacksonville, Ark.

CHILDERSBURG Funeral service for Samantha Elizabeth Greer, 6, will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home chapel in Sylacauga with the Rev. Keith Dennis officiating. Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery
in Childersburg.
The child died July 27. She would have been in the first grade at Watwood Elementary in Childersburg.
She is survived by her father, Oscar T. Greer Jr. of Childersburg; her mother, Nickie Butler of Harpersville; sister, Crystal Butler of Harpersville; grandfather, Oscar T. Greer Sr. of Childersburg; and grandmother, Terry Butler of Sylacauga.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Keith Baker, David Smith, Barry Andrews and C.D. Welch.

ALTON CHRISTIE LITTLE
ALPINE Graveside service for Alton Christie Little, 73, was Monday at 1 p.m. in Forest Hills Cemetery
in Birmingham with a U.S. Air Force Chaplin officiating.
Mr. Little died July 26 at his residence. He was a native of Oklahoma and had lived in Talladega County since 1970. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Renee Little, and a sister, Ellen Shackelford.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy C. Little of Alpine; daughter, Rhonda Childers of Warrior; sons, Randy C. Little of Weaver, Russell W. Little of Talladega and Robert A. Little of Cropwell; sister, Paquita Webb of Tulsa, Okla.; and brothers, Cecil Little of Cropwell, Michael Little of Chula Vista, Calif., and Daniel Little of Oklahoma City, Okla.
Members of the U.S. Air Force served as pallbearers.

MUNFORD Funeral service for Tony Franklin Moore, 30, will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Mike Phillips and the Rev. Buck Greenwood officiating. Burial will be in Hopeful Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Moore died July 28 at Citizens BMC in Talladega. He was a native of Clay County and had lived in Munford most of his life. He was a member of Hopeful Baptist Church and was a graduate of Munford High School. He volunteered at the YMCA from 1998-1999. He was a poster child for the March of Dimes and was voted "Mister Sunshine" in 1977. He was preceded in death by his father, Homer Franklin Moore.
He is survived by his mother, Hazel Moore of Munford; sister and brother-in-law, Lynn and Tony Eldridge; and two nieces, Sunshine Robertson and Summer Eldridge, all of Munford.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Phillip Hooper, Lavon Stephens, Donald Ray Wade, Alvin Wade, Russell Carey, Mac Sprayberry, Kevin Moore and Randy Lee.

TALLADEGA Graveside service for Hazel H. Reddish, 86, was Monday at 3 p.m. in Oak Hill Cemetery
in Talladega with the Rev. Charley Bolt officiating.
Mrs. Reddish died July 27 at Talladega Health Care Center. She was a native of Winston County, had lived in Talladega since 1942 and was a member of Central Baptist Church of Talladega. She was retired from Bemis Company Inc.
She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Dan Waites of Talladega; granddaughter, Lennis Waites of Talladega; grandson, Cole Waites of Talladega; sisters, Agnes Robinson and Ola Harbin of Haleyville, Fern Little of Birmingham and Lucy Motte of Knoxville, Tenn.; and brothers, John Hicks of Haleyville and Jesse Hicks of Huntsville.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alabama Boys and Girls Ranch or Central Baptist Church.
Pallbearers were Cole Waites, Dabney Reddish, John Ed Waites, Tyler Waites, Jimmy Waites and John Waites.

Mrs. Robinson died July 25 at Brookwood Medical Center.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Bernard Robinson of Alexander City; children, Quarteshia Lashun Johnson, Marterious Shontae Young and Curtis Larun Young of Alexander City; her father, Curtis Johnson; her mother, Clemmie Mae Johnson; two stepchildren, Kannarda Baggett and Kenyatta Robinson; brothers, Curtis Johnson of Jackson's Gap and Jerry Johnson of Dadeville; sisters, Shelia Young of Alexander City, Geraldine Johnson of Dadeville and Amy Johnson and Betty Robinson of Alexander City; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

ANNISTON Memorial service for Marcus Odell (Tiny) Russell, 31, will be Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Anniston Funeral Service chapel with the Rev. Gerald Smith officiating.
Mr. Russell died July 26 at Stringfellow Memorial Hospital. He was a lifelong resident of Anniston, was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, was a graduate of Tuskegee Job Corps and was a retired bouncer.
He is survived by his wife, Berdener Russell of Anniston; son, Antonio Bennett of Jacksonville; daughter, Chanal Russell of Anniston; sister, Jacquindalyn Russell of Anniston; brother, Donnell Russell of Anniston; and grandparents, Johnny and Eudora Russell of Anniston.
