Dorothy Baker Cawthon, 95, of Monroeville died Sunday Nov. 18, 2007 at Monroe Manor Nursing Home.
Cawthon was a native of Georgia and had resided in Monroeville for many years. She was a member of Eastwood Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Dr. Carol Lane of Monroeville; one sister, Ruby Salley of Summerville, Ga.; and three grandchildren.
Services were held Wednesday, Nov. 21 at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home with Rev. Glen Eubanks and Rev. Bobby McKenzie officiating. Burial followed in Pineville Cemetery in Monroeville.
Sarah Ethel Clausell
Jones Unity Funeral Home, Monroeville
Sarah Ethel Clausell, 79, of Peterman died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2007 at Mobile Infirmary Medical Center.
Clausell was a native of Marengo County and had lived in Monroe County for a number of years. She was a domestic worker/homemaker and a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Johnny Lee Clausell of Elmore; five sisters, Annette Clausell and Alice “Faye” (Charles) McCorvey, both of Peterman, Georgia Parker of Monroeville, Betty Agee of Frisco City and Linda (Willie) Richardson Jr. of Tunnel Springs; one brother, Buera (Ester) Robinson of Dayton, Ohio; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services were held Saturday, Nov. 17 at 2 p.m. Mt. Olive Baptist Church with Rev. Stanley officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Lem Harrison
Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home, Atmore
Lem Harrison, 90, of Atmore died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2007 at his daughter’s residence.
Harrison was born in Uriah and was a forest ranger with Alabama Forestry.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Macie Harrison; and one son, Jimmy Harrison.
Survivors include one daughter, Bobbie Jean (Earl E.) Reynolds of Atmore; three brothers, Harold Harrison and George Harrison, both of Uriah and Billy Ray Harrison of Saraland; one sister, Mattie Loue Gross of Uriah; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held Friday, Nov. 16 at 2 p.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Chapel with Bro. Henry Wilson and Bro. Mike Grindle officiating. Burial followed in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Latonya Lasha Lambert
Penn’s Funeral Home, Monroeville
Latonya Lasha Lambert, 34, of Claiborne died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2007 in Mobile Infirmary Hosptial.
Lambert was a native of Claiborne and a lifelong resident of Monroe County. She was a 1991 graduate of Monroe County High School and a graduate of Alabama Southern Community College. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Claiborne.
Survivors include her parents, Willie James and Patricia Ann Lambert of Claiborne; and one sister, Tasha Lambert-Thomas of Montgomery.
Services were held Sunday, Nov. 18 at 2 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Claiborne with Rev. Osbry Millender officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Maretta Taite Richardson
Jones Unity Funeral Home, Monroeville
Maretta Taite Richardson, 49, of Monroeville died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2007 at Mobile Infirmary Medical Center.
Richardson a native of Monroeville and a lifelong resident of Monroe County. She was a graduate of Monroe County High School. She was a homemaker and a member of Limestone Baptist Church in Monroeville where she was the president of the Usher Board and Matron Department, leader of the youth department, served on the pastor’s aid board and was the director of Baby Angels Praise Team.
Survivors include her husband, Felix Richardson of Monroeville; two sons, GYSGT Jackie Laronze (Felicia) Taite of San Diego, Calif. and Travis Savoy Cerdino Richardson of Atlanta, Ga.; one daughter, Brittany Evette Richardson of Monroeville; one brother, James (Mable) Taite of Monroeville; one sister, Brenda K. Taite of Claremont, N.H.; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 21 at 11 a.m. at Limestone Baptist Church in Monroeville with Rev. Freddie Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Eula Mae Roberson
Penn’s Funeral Home, Monroeville
Eula Mae Roberson, 92, of Frisco City died Friday, Nov. 16, 2007 at Jackson Hospital in Montgomery.
Roberson was a native of Frisco City and lived in Monroe County most of her life. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, G.K. Roberson of Brandenton, Fla. and Willie C. Calhoun Sr. of Frisco City; one daughter, Mattie Autrey of Foley; one brother, Charlie Roberson of Waynesville, Ga.; 23 grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 21 at 11 a.m. at Penn’s Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Matthew Davis officiating. Burial will follow in New Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery in Mexia.
James M. Watford
Monroe Chapel, Monroeville
James M. Watford, 93, of Excel died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2007 at Englewood Health Care Center.
Watford was a native of Wilcox County and had lived in Monroe County most of his life. He worked as a security guard with Vanity Fair and enjoyed farming too. He was a member of Central Church of Christ in Ollie.
Survivors include his wife, Velma Watford of Excel; two sons, James D. (Landa) Watford and William Watford, both of Excel; one daughter, Lois Rowell of Excel; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services were held Wednesday, Nov. 21 at 11 a.m. at Monroe Chapel Funeral Home with Minister Perry Phillips officiating. Burial followed at Coleman Assembly of God Cemetery in Wildfork.
Dustin DeVan Wilkerson
Monroe Chapel, Monroeville
Dustin DeVan Wilkerson, 19, died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2007 in Conecuh County.
Wilkerson was a native and lifelong resident of Monroe County. He was a member of the Community Chapel Church.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, James L. Lollar and Winston and Betty Bass.
Survivors include his parents, Michael and Carolyn Lollar Wilkerson of Excel; grandparents, DeVan and Aline Wilkerson of Excel; and three sisters, Tiffany Larson of Monroeville, Crystal (Glen) Gary of Evergreen and Danielle Wilkerson of Excel.
Services were held Friday, Nov. 16 at 2 p.m. at Excel Assembly of God Church in Excel with Rev. Dale Alpin officiating. Burial followed in Shiloh Cemetery in Frisco City.
Curtis Beasley

Curtis Beasley, 58, of Monroeville died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2007 at U.S.A. Hospital in Mobile.
Beasley was a native of Monroeville and a lifelong resident of Monroe County. He was a chef and landscaper. He was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church in Monroeville.
Survivors include his wife, Bernice Beasley of Monroeville; his mother, Oshie Beasley of Monroeville; one daughter, Wanda Faye Brown of Monroeville; one stepdaughter, Ludie Marie Cummins of Cleveland, Ohio; two sisters, Mary Fuqua and Barbara Beasley, both of Monroeville; and three grandchildren.
Services were held Saturday, Nov. 24 at 11 a.m. at Morning Star Baptist Church in Monroeville with Rev. John A. Tucker, pastor, officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
