Douglas M. Kaiser

Mr. Douglas M. Kaiser, Sr., 65, of Atmore, died Saturday, July 31, 2004 at his home.

He was a farmer, born August 4, 1938, in Elberta to the late Paul and Helen Merie' Kaiser, Jr., coming to Escambia County to farm in 1964.

He was a member of Kairos Prison Ministry, a member of St. Agatha Catholic Church of Bay Minette, vice president of the Escambia Soil and Water Conservation District, and served in the National Guard Company A 117th Signal Battalion, active in the Army during the Berlin Crisis.

Surviving are his wife, Barbara Morris Kaiser of Atmore; one son, Douglas M. Kaiser, Jr. and wife Tammy of Atmore; one daughter, Amy Hedge and husband Patrick of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; two brothers, Paul Kaiser III, and wife Diane of Foley, Edward Kaiser and wife Donna of St. Mary's, Ga.; two sisters, Barbara Leavell and husband Tom of Daphne, Kathleen Morgan and husband Michael of Ridgefield, Conn.; six grandchildren, Bo Gideons, Timothy Kaiser, Ande Giddeons, Levi Gideons, Benjamin Kaiser and Mary Elizabeth Hedge.

Mass of Christian burial was held August 3, 2004 from St. Agatha Catholic Church in Bay Minette with Rev. Jan Zagorski officiating. Service followed at Pine Rest Funeral Home Chapel in Foley with Rev. Don Davis and Rev. James Scott officiating. Burial followed at Pine Rest Cemetery in Foley.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kairos Prison Ministry, c/o Charley Blaes, 206 Volanta Ave. Fairhope, AL 36532, or St. Agatha Catholic Church, 1001 Hand Ave. Bay Minette, AL 36507.

Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Daisy Louellan Dyal Madison

Mrs. Daisy Louellan Dyal Madison, 86, of Atmore, died Wednesday, August 11, 2004 at her residence.

She was born March 4, 1918 in Monroe County to the late Dahlonega W. and Pearl Agnes Baggett Dyal. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints of Atmore. She was preceded in death by her husband Charlie H. Madison and an infant son, Charlie D. Madison.

She is survived by one sons, Rodger A. Madison of Mobile; three daughters, Robin M. Sullivan of Wetumpka, Gaylyn C. Miller of Mobile and Rose Mary Davis of Atmore; three sisters, Vyvyan Dyal Jordan of Montgomery, Wanda Dyal Morris of Safford and Glenna Dyal Jernigan of Idaho Falls, Idaho; fifteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren and special friends Jeff, Pam and Nicholas Rehorn.

Services were held Friday, August 13 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Branch President Andy Akins officiating. Burial followed at Semirah Springs Cemetery in Uriah. Pallbearers were Charlie Madison, Ruffin Madison, Charles Miller, Russell Miller, Thomas Anderson and Tommy Jones.

Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

William Wiggins

Mr. William Jerry "Happy" Wiggins, Sr.,61, died Monday, August 9, 2004 at a Pensacola Hospital.

Mr. Wiggins was a native of Bratt, Fla. and a resident of McDavid, Fla. for the past 20 years. He attended Byrneville Mennonite Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Iva Dell Wiggins, five brothers, Bill Wiggins, J.C. Wiggins, Ronnie Wiggins, Sylvester Wiggins and Jimmy Wiggins; and one granddaughter, Jessica Stewart.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Wiggins of the home; four sons, William Jerry Wiggins, Jr. and wife Judy of Perdido, Brian Wiggins of McDavid, Israel Wiggins of Bogia and Eric and wife Danett Wiggins of McDavid; three daughters, Sharon and husband Howard Stewart of Mobile, Tammy Smith of Bratt and Angela and husband Kevin Knowles of Flomaton; three brothers, Bernie and wife Florine Wiggins of Bratt, Raymond and wife JoAnn Wiggins of Byrneville and Buford and wife Sharon Wiggins of Bratt; three sisters, Myrtle and husband Jim Staff of Atmore, Dianne and husband Clarence Rolin of Canoe and Dorothy and husband Dennis Lloyd of Theodore; and 18 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Thursday, August 12, at 10 a.m. at Eastside Funeral Home with Brother Joseph Horst officiating. Burial followed at Godwin Cemetery.

Visitation was held Wednesday, August 11, at Eastside Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Dempsey Hall, Paul Walston, Barney Jones, Travis Brown, Tommy Lee Johnson and Ray Johnson.

Honorary pallbearers were James Comalander, Larry Comalander, Lamar Comalander, Jerry Comalander and Allen Comalander.

Eastside Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Benjamin F. Dyal

Mr. Benjamin F. Dyal, age 88, of Jay, Florida died August 18, 2004 after a long illness.

He was born May 31, 1916 in Clio, Ga., and moved to Cross City, Fla. as a young child. He graduated from Cross City High School and the University of Florida and earned his master's degree from the University of Southern Mississippi. He worked with the Escambia County School Board, and retired from the Mississippi State Board of Education as an accountant. Ben was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church and the Escambia County Retired Educators Association.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Lillian and Benjamin Dyal, and siblings Cora, David, Donald, Herman, Mae, and Marvin. He is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years, Thelma H. Dyal, his sister Patricia Crawford, and several nieces and nephews.

Active pallbearers will be Tony Gomillion, Donald Hendricks, James Hendricks, John D. Hendricks, Bill Patrick, and Tom Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Gandy, Tracy Hodgins, Bill Martin, Billy Parker, Wayne Tappan, and J.D. Warrick.

Funeral services were held at 2p.m. Saturday, August 21, at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church with rev. John Edwards officiating.

Jay Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Frederick Glenn Bynum

Mr. Frederick Glenn Bynum, 95, died Tuesday, August 17, 2004.

He was born June 13, 1909 in Moulton. He was the 2nd child born to Henry Richard Bynum and Bernice Bynum. Mr. Bynum moved to Atmore, at an early age. He was united in holy matrimony to the late Ms. Vera Bynum. Mr. Bynum was a member of the Greater Mr. Triumph Baptist Church where he was a dedicated Sunday School Teacher for many years. He was also a member of the Eureka Lodge #953.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Vera Bynum; two brothers, James Bynum, and John Henry Bynum.

He is survived by: two sisters, Mrs. Mary Louise Irby, and Mrs. Lillian Bynum Brooks, both of Cincinnati, OH; one Goddaughter, Tovjivanese L. Grissett, of Atmore, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Funeral services were held at Robinson-Christian Memorial Funeral Home on Friday, August 20, 2004 at 11:00a.m. with Dr. A.L. Durant officiating.

Dorothy Moore Ponda

Dorothy Moore Ponda, 89 of Jay, Fl died August 17,2004 in Pensacola, following a long term illness.

Born in Santa Rosa County an March 27,1915, she was a life long resident of Jay, Florida. She worked for Judy Bond Manufacturing Company in Brewton for 15 years. She was a member of Jay Assembly of God.

Mrs. Ponds is preceded in death by her husbands, Holley J. Moore and Joseph Ponds; and son, Jerry J. Moore.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Mickey and Mary Moore, Americus, GA; daughter, Theresa Anderson, Cantonment; sister Lorine Wikes, Laurel Hill, FL; six grandchildren, Isaac Anderson, Virginia Waller, Sherri Lynn Taylor, Darrin Moore, Christopher Moore, Carol Sue Moore; eight great grandchildren, four great -great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 10a.m. Thursday at Jay Funeral Home with Rev. Earle Greene of Jay, officiating. Burial followed at Jay City Cemetery.

Visitation was held Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at Jay Funeral Home.

Nora M. Johnson

Mrs. Nora M. Johnson, 72, died, Monday, August 16, 2004.

Born March 17, 1932, Mrs. Johnson was a resident of Flomaton, Alabama. She was Pentacostal Holiness by faith. She was preceded in death by her grand-daughter Jamie Lynn Cofield and son-in-law Charles Boutwell.

She is survived by her husband of 35 years Donald Johnson, Sr., Flomaton, Al., sons Jimmy and Nancy Cofield, Flomaton, Al., Donald and Jena Cofield, Flomaton, Al., Donald and Mary Johnson, Jr. Iuka,IL. daughters Penny Boutwell, Flomaton, Al., Frances and Donald Walston, Milton, Fl., brothers Jimmy and Betty Freeman, Birmingham, Al., George Palmer, Jr., Jay, Fl., sisters Eula May and Gordan Deerborn, Robertsdale, Al., Mamie Jo Jones, North Carolina, Nancy Neal, Flomaton, Al., six grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, August 18, 2004 at Jay Funeral Home with Brother Wallace Reid officiating. Burial followed at McCurdy Cemetery.

Linda Faye Moore Crawley

Mrs. Linda Faye Moore Crawley, 48, died Friday, Aug. 20, 2004 at her resident in Jay. She was a lifelong resident of Jay and was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her father, Walter Irving Moore Sr.; her brother, Randy Moore and sisters, Betty Ard and Margaret Gunn.

She is survived by her mother, Addie Lee Moore of East Brewton; a son, Daniel Carlton Kelley of Milton, Fla.; a daughter, Dana Lashell Quiffin of Thomasville, Ga.; brothers, Walter Irvin Moore Jr., Jerry Lee Moore and James Earl Moore, all of East Brewton and Ronald Wayne Moore of Jay; sisters, Lois Ann Moore of East Brewton, Dianne Horn of Berrydale, Fla., Brenda Faye Forbes of Kentucky and Sandra May Gomez of San Antonio, Texas and three grandchildren.

Graveside funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 24, at Pine Level Cemetery with Bro. James Rheam and the Rev. Jerry Lee Moore officiating and Jay Funeral Home directing.
