Clinton Marshall, 73, died Wednesday, September 24.

Mr. Marshall is preceded in death by: his parents, Jimmy and Gertrude Marshall; seven sisters and brothers. He lived in Trenton, New Jersey all of his life.

He is survived by: three sisters, Lillie B. Littles of Atmore, Willie M. Wesley of Haingville, GA, and Lillie Marshall of Albany, NY; three brothers, Willie Lee and Dorothy Marshall of Atmore, John E. and Elizabeth Marshall of Albany, NY, Arthur and Lucille Marshall of Pensacola; a host of nieces and nephews.

Sue Kathryn Hood Chunn

Sept. 15, 2003

Sue Kathryn Hood Chunn, 62, of the Rocky Hill community, died Monday, September 15 at the Monroe Co. Hospital.

She was a resident of Monroe Co. and had been a schoolteacher for many years. She is preceded in death by her parents Curtis and Alma Hood.

She is survived by: her husband, T.L. "Whitey" Chunn of Rocky Hill; two sons, Darryl Chunn and wife Leigh, Jason Chunn and wife Ashley all of Goodway; one daughter, Kathy Petty of Rocky Hill; two sisters, Martha Baker and husband Buddy of Atmore, Gaylen Lambert and husband Roger of Goodway; two grandchildren, Dalten and Paige.

Funeral Services were held Friday, September 19 at Rocky Hill Baptist Church. Rev. Jessie Bohannon and Rev. Pete Dunn officiated. Burial followed at Rocky Hill Cemetery.

Johnson's Funeral Home in Monroeville was in charge of the arrangements.

Sam Edward Bradley Sr.

Oct. 1, 2003

Mr. Sam Edward Bradley Sr., 96, of Daphne died Wednesday in Fairhope. A native of Monroeville, he had lived in Daphne for many years. He attended school in Baldwin County. He was a member of the Friendship AME Church, a trustee and building fund committee member. He was a mason and retired from the Grand Hotel, where he was the head carpenter for more than 42 years. He was a member of the Grand Hotel's 25 Year Plus Golden Club.

He was preceded in death by his brothers John Bradley and Jesse Bradley; His wife, Mary Alice Bradley; parents Guy and Maggie Bradley; his children Doris Dailey and Willie Lee Bradley; and his sisters, Ruth Hubbard, Ida Bradley and Beulah Mason.

He is survived by his daughter, Inez B. Dane of Daphne; two sons, Richard Bradley Sr. and Sam E. Bradley Jr. of Daphne; a brother, Malcolm Bradley of Birmingham; 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held 1-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Turner Funeral Chapel. Viewing will be in the church one hour before the beginning of the service.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Friendship AME Church in Daphne with the Rev. Carl Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the Friendship Church Cemetery in Daphne. Pallbearers will be friends of the family. Turner Funeral Chapel in charge of all arrangements.

Charles Ard

Sept. 30, 2003

Mr. Charles Ard, 86, of McDavid died Tuesday. A native of McDavid, he attended the Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents Mack B. and Lizzie Ard; a brother, Luther Ard; and a sister Thelma Watford.

He is survived by his wife, Dora Belle Ard of McDavid; four daughters, Frances Townes and husband Richard of Cantonment; JoAnne Freeman and husband Leon of Cantonment; Mary Graf and husband Gary of Cantonment; and Connie Rigby and husband Eugene of McDavid; a brother Henry Ard and wife Jane of Ensley, Fla.; a sister, Bash Franklin of McDavid; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday at the Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. E.L Enfinger officiating. Burial followed at Ray's Chapel Baptist Cemetery. Pallbearers were Gary Graf, Gene Rigby, Alan Graf, Tony Rigby, Jason Freeman and Scott Clay. Honorary pallbearers were Richard Townes and Leon Freeman.

Rosie Voncile Freeman

Sept. 30, 2003

Miss Rosie Voncile Freeman, 82, of Atmore died Tuesday in Eight Mile. She was a retired waitress at the Sweet Shop. She was born in Butler County on Dec. 11, 1920, to the late Hillary Hubbard and Lillian Estelle McIncole Freeman. She is survived by one brother, Newton Freeman of Galveston, Texas; two sisters, Annie Emma Gladys Baker of Daphne and Lonie Erie Embley of Eight Mile; numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services were held Wednesday in Robinsonville Baptist Cemetery with Dr. Will Baker officiating. Johnson Quimby Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mary Solom Nomia Shehan

Sept. 30, 2003

Mary Solom Nomia Shehan, 89, of Atmore died Tuesday in a Bay Minette nursing home. She was a member of the Hand Avenue Baptist Church in Bay Minette and a member of the Ella D. Chambers Order of the Eastern Star in Bay Minette. She is survived by one son, Buck Shehan and wife JoAnn of Bay Minette; three daughters, Frances Newhard of Stafford, Va.; Eloise Austin of Natchez, Miss.; and Mary Etta Hadley of Atmore. She is also survived by one sister, Maizie Williams of Uriah, 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday at the Atmore Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Gladdin Mothershed and Rev. Randall Short officiating. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were James Donald, Donald Ray Hadley, Delmar Weaver, Kenneth Jackson, Eddie Peska and Micheal Newhard. Atmore Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Barbara Ann Gray Coleman

Sept. 29, 2003

Barbara Ann Gray Coleman, 55, of Baltimore died Monday in Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore.

A native of Atmore, she had lived in Baltimore for many years. She was a postal clerk. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Coleman, her mother Anise Brown, stepfather Will Brown and brother Floyd David Gray. She is survived by her father Howard Askew of Pensacola; sister Virginia Barron of Westbury, N.Y.; brother Leon Gray of Texas and her aunt, Frances Strain Gray of Atmore.

Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. today at Turner Funeral Chapel and viewing will be in the church one hour before services begin.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Jones Street Holiness Church with Bishop Willie L. Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Stallworth Cemetery in Atmore. Pallbearers will be friends of the family.

Paul Joseph 'Joe' Godwin

Sept. 29, 2003

Mr. Paul Joseph 'Joe' Godwin, 70, of Bluff Springs died Monday. A native of Century, he had lived in Bluff Springs for 43 years. He retired from Monsanto after 35 years and attended the Holiness Church. He was preceded in death by his wife Jeanette Godwin and a granddaughter, Brittany Jeanette Godwin.

He is survived by three sons: Paul Godwin and wife Debbie of The Woodlands, Texas; Jimmy Godwin and wife Vicki of Byrneville; Jackie Godwin and wife Margaret, also of Byrneville; a daughter, Sandy Collier and husband Neal of McDavid; five sisters, Mattie Lou Sheffield of McDavid; Susie Wise of Pensacola; Mazie Hawthorn, also of Pensacola; Vicki Jordan of Byrneville; and Irene McPherron of Phoenix; nine grandchildren, Preston and wife Suzanne; Dusty and wife Jennifer; Ashley, Brandy, Amber, Jenna, Whitney, John and Seana; one great-grandchild, Leia Kate Godwin.

Services were held Oct. 2 at the Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Shelton and Rev. Kermit Groat officiating. Burial followed at Crary Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers were Kenny Salter, Elton Gilmore, Donnie Peterson, Donnie Walker, Dennis Jordan, Mike Dunsford and Tommy Jordan.

Charles Kenneth 'Ken' Kyser

Sept. 28, 2003

Mr. Charles Kenneth Kyser, a native of Atmore, died Sunday. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and had worked the oil fields of Peru. He had worked with Auto Detailing of Atmore for more than 10 years, was a security guard at Jefferson Davis Community College and was Protestant by faith. He was preceded in death by his wife of 20 years, Lucille Kyser, and two brothers, Earl Kyser and Edlow Kyser.

He is survived by two sons: Charles Kyser and wife Diane of Atmore; and Kenneth Kyser Jr. and wife Dana of Montgomery; one daughter, Margaret Smith of Reeds, Mo.; a brother, Larry O'Neal Kyser of Pensacola; two grandchildren, Nathan Smith and Kalyna Smith both of Reeds.

Services were held Thursday at the Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. C.L. Langford officiating. Burial followed at McCullough Cemetery. Pallbearers were David Kyals, Danny Flowers, David Langford, Earl Weaver, Rev. Larry Davis, Ken Harrison and Rev. Earl Harrison.
