Neal Allen Neal, 52, of Jemison died Thursday, Nov. 25, 2004, in Pensacola, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Dwight Ratcliff and Jack Randall Neal, and his grandparents, Harvey R. Ingel and Ila D. Ingle and the Rev. F.W. and Sula Neal.

He is survived by his wife, Karen G. Neal of Jemison; his mother, Eva Ingle Neal of Hayden; his father, Jack D. Neal of Hayden; two sons, R. Justin Neal of Birmingham and Taylor G. Neal of Jemison; one sister, Dianne N. Crumpton of Birmingham; and her grandchild, Ashlyn Shea Neal of Birmingham.

Service was Dec. 2 at Collins-Burke Funeral Home Chapel, Harry Bunn presiding and Collins-Burke directing.

RUFUS FELTON NOLEN

Siluria Baptist Church member

Rufus Felton Nolen, 94, of Alabaster died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, at his home.

He was born Aug. 7, 1910, in Mississippi.

He was a member of Siluria Baptist Church and taught Sunday school for 15 years at Briarcliff Nursing Home.

He retired from Birmingham Transit with 27 years of service.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Eva M. Nolen; children, Travis Zane Nolen of Germany, Carolyn Ledbetter of Alabaster and Kay Parham of Rossville, Ga.; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; one brother, James Nolen of Alabaster; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Graveside service was Dec. 7 at Bolton-Letlow Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Roy C. Griggs presiding.

Burial followed at Shelby Memory Gardens, Bolton-Letlow directing.

MICHAEL JOHN PENDER

Harpersville resident

Michael John Pender, 22, of Harpersville died Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004, at Dunwood Medical Center in Atlanta.

He is survived by his parents, John and Della Pender of Harpersville; his sister, Holly (Donny) Gates of Harpersville; his grandfather, Howard Roberson of Harpersville; his nephews, Tyler Wood, Tim Gates and Matt Gates of Harpersville; and his niece, Mary Gates of Harpersville.

Service was Dec. 7 at Vincent Revival Center, the Rev. Tim Tillman presiding.

Burial followed in Harpersville Cemetery, Curtis and Son Funeral Home directing.

Pallbearers were Jeremy Sims, Shane Roberson, Brian Starnes, Danny Adair and Mark Green.

JERRY WAYNE RAY

Thompson High School graduate

Jerry Wayne Ray, 51, of Pelham died Nov. 30, 2004. He attended Thompson High School, where he was a member of the THS band.

During his early years, he served as a sonar technician for the U.S. Navy from 1971-75 aboard the USS Robert E. Lee.

He was employed by BellSouth for 27 years. He was preceded in death by his brother, Joel Ray, and his father, Albert Ray.

He is survived by his wife, Kristen Pool Ray; his sons, Thomas Andrew Ray and Jordan Ryan Ray; his mother, Betty Crumpton of Alabaster; his brother, Mike (Denise) Ray of Columbiana; his sister, Tracy (Bo) Pickett of Brantleyville; two nephews, Jonathon and Dylan Pickett; his grandmother, Louise Franklin; his uncles, Bill and Bert Day; and a host of other family and friends.

Service was Dec. 3 at Crossroads Baptist Church with fellowship following, Ed Snow presiding and Charter Funeral Home directing.

IVA MAE SANFORD RUSHING

Alabaster resident

Iva Mae Sanford Rushing, 82, of Alabaster died Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004, in her home.

She is survived by her husband, Herbert Rushing; three sons, Herbert Lewis (Joy) Rushing of Locus Fork, Ala., Jocob Lowell (Ann) Rushing of Alabaster and Bobby Lynn (Lynn) Rushing of Alabasterf; five grandchildren, Dennis, Kristie, Brownie, Brett and Jared; and four great-grandchildren, Hope, Jacob, Sarah and Ivey.

Graveside service was Dec.7 at Elliottsville Cemetery in Alabaster, Charter Funeral Home directing.

JEFFREY LEE SHANER

Born in Birmingham

Jeffrey Lee Shaner, 29, of Warrior died Monday, Nov. 29, 2004, at home.

He was born June 6, 1975, in Birmingham.

He is survived by his parents, Roger and Teresa Shaner of Fayetteville; his brother, Adam Shaner of Westover; his sister, Sondra Shaner of Calera; his grandmothers, Margaret Walker of Fayetteville and Geneva Shaner of Sterrett; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and other friends.

Service was Dec. 2 at Vincent Revival Center, the Rev. Virgil Shaner presiding.

Burial followed in the adjacent cemetery, Bolton-Letlow Funeral Home directing.

MABLE EDWARDS TAYLOR

Wilton resident

Mable Edwards Taylor, 82, of Wilton died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004.

She is survived by her daughters, Mildred Firn of Orlando, Fla., and Judy Noel of Milwaukee, Wis.; her son, Leonard Raybon of St. Petersburg, Fla.; her sister, Hazel (William E.) Rice of Montevallo; her brother, Everette (Carolyn) Edwards of Pelham; seven grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Service was Dec. 4 at Rockco's Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Montevallo Cemetery, Rockco's directing.

THOMAS H. WALTON

Calera resident

Thomas H. Walton, 89, of Calera died Friday, Dec. 3, 2004, at his sister's home.

He was born Jan. 19, 1915, in Columbiana.

He is survived by his two sisters, Ruth Mims of Birmingham and Mayanice Walton of Columbiana; three nieces, Fernetta Lewis of Noxontown, Del., Nancy Lawrence of Montevallo and Erma Prichard of Calera; and one great-nephew, John Matthews of Morris.

Service was Dec. 6 at Bolton-Letlow Chapel, the Rev. Tillman Harris presiding.

Burial followed at Shelby Memory Gardens, Bolton-Letlow Funeral Home directing.

The family requests memorial donations be made to Gideon's International, Birmingham NE Camp, P.O. Box 610489, Birmingham, AL 35261.

RANDY MATHIS

Former Harpersville resident

Randy Mathis, 47, of Moody and formerly of Harpersville died Dec. 4, 2004.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Robert Mathis.

He is survived by his wife, Teresa Mathis of Moody and formerly of Columbiana; one daughter, Kasey (Noel) Stephens; one son, Colton Mathis; one grandson, Tyler Stephens; his mother, Mary Mathis; his brother, Reid Mathis; and three sisters, Sandra Partridge, Kathy Williamson and Debbie Swiney.

Service was Dec. 7 at Cedar Grove Baptist Church with burial following in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Kilgroe Funeral Home directing.
