Roland Smith Jr., 77, of Alabaster died May 26, 2004, at his home. He was born in Alabama on Aug. 16, 1926, to Raymond R. Smith and Willie G. Smith. He was a member of the Pentecostal Church and Faith Chapel.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria Wyatt Smith; sons, Kenneth (Dot) Smith of Alabaster, Roland Eugene (Debra) Smith of Columbiana and Randy (Becky) Smith of Calera; daughters, Peggy Hamrick of Columbiana and Bobbie (Troy) Payne of Pelham; one brother, Rufus Smith of Calera; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Service was May 28 at Charter Funeral Home, the Revs. Bobby Law, Waymond Stricklin and Ruby Kyle presiding. Burial followed in Dargin Cemetery, Charter Funeral Home directing.

Clinton Brian Tarwater, 25, of Sylacauga died Tuesday, May 25, 2004, at his residence. He was preceded in death by his father, Clinton Tarwater.
He is survived by his wife, Chere Tarwater of Sylacauga; two daughters, Briana and Savana Tarwater, both of Sylacauga; his mother, Diana Truex of Sylacauga; his stepfather, Ralph Don Truex of Sylacauga; two brothers, Jeffrey Cain of Baytown, Texas, and Jacky Tarwater of Rockwell, Texas; and one sister, Jovanna Tarwater of Baytown, Texas.
Service was May 29 at Curtis and Son Childersburg Chapel, the Rev. Eddie Forbus presiding and Curtis and Son directing.
FRAZIER "BABE" WARREN

Frazier "Babe" Warren, 85, of Montevallo died Sunday, May 30, 2004, at his home. He was born Dec. 5, 1918, in Bibb County. He was a United States and past post commander of the American Legion. He worked as a heating and air condition specialist.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Major and Mamie Warren; his son-in-law, Richard Guest; three brothers, John, Erskine and Leonard; and three sisters, Kathleen, Marguarite and Willie.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Auburn Juanita Peters Warren; one daughter, Linda Sue Warren Guest; one sister, Mary Smith; two brothers, C.D. Warren and Hershal Warren; one grandson, Richard Grayton (Kim Joyner) Guest; and two great-grandsons, Trey and Brett Guest.
Service will be today, June 2 at Rockco's Funeral Home Chapel in Montevallo, Wayne Bullard and Terry Palmer presiding. Burial followed in Macedonia Cemetery in Pea Ridge, Rockco's directing.

Nora Carlee Whatley, 90, of Montevallo died May 28, 2004, in Centreville. She was a Montevallo business owner for many years.
She is survived by her brother, Chester "Check" Carlee of Alabaster; two grandchildren; Wayne and Mark Whatley; and one great-grandson.
Graveside service was May 30 at Montevallo Cemetery, Brother Steve Robinson and Rockco's Funeral Home directing.

Mary Lou Benson, 79, of Columbiana died Tuesday, June 1, 2004, at a local hospital. She was born Oct. 20, 1924, in Montgomery.
She is survived by her daughter, Pat (Ernest) Hughes of Columbiana; her son, Gary Milton Benson of Mississippi; her grandchildren, Gay Hughes, Steve Hughes, Howard (Jean) Hughes and Kila Benson; and great-grandchildren, Scott Hughes and Shae Brown.
Service was June 3 at Bay Springs Baptist Church, the Rev. Charles Stroud presiding. Burial followed in Bay Springs Cemetery, Bolton-Letlow Funeral Home directing.

Clifford W. Buchanan, 81, of Wilsonville died Friday, June 4, 2004. He was born Sept. 4, 1922, in Bowden, Ga.
He is survived by his wife, Rosa Anne Buchanan of Wilsonville; children, Tony Buchanan of Milledgeville, Ga., Jim Buchanan of Dothan, Joe Buchanan of Abbeville, Linda Buchanan of Pelham and Steve Buchanan of Bakersfield, Calif.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Rayford Buchanan; and one sister, Letha Ayers, both of Bowden, Ga.
Service was June 6 at Wilsonville Baptist Church, the Revs. Red Vansant and Sammy McEwen presiding. Burial followed in Pinelawn Gardens, Bolton-Letlow Funeral Home directing.

Ruby LaNell Cashatt, 72, of Bremen, Ala., died Tuesday, June 1, 2004, in Cullman.
She is survived by her husband, Howard W. Cashatt of Bremen; three daughters, Vickie (Don) Mayo of Panama City, Fla., Brenda (Richard) Sessions of Townsend, Tenn., and Christie (Jackie) Franklin of Bremen, Ala.; one son, Ronald H. (Kathy) Cashatt of Morris, Ala.; four sisters, Patricia McClain of Birmingham, Betty Bice of Birmingham, Barbara Lipham of Gadsden and Mildred Pesseackey of Sylacauga; one brother, Earl Pickett of North Carolina; six grandchildren, Wendy Crawford, Melanie Garvich, Patricia Mayo, Jackie Brannon, Austin Franklin and Shawn Franklin; and one great-grandchild, Zoey Crawford.
Service was June 4 at Rockco's Funeral Home Chapel in Montevallo, the Rev. Don Mayo presiding. Burial followed in Macedonia Cemetery in Pea Ridge, Rockco's directing.

Deborah Ann Davenport, 47, of Clanton died at home June 6, 2004. She was born in Alabama in April 1957 to Mary Reid and the late John Patterson Sr. She worked as a nurse.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry "Pete" Davenport of Clanton; two sons, Chris and Eric Davenport, both of Clanton; one grandson, Cole Davenport of Clanton; three granddaughters, Brittney Davenport, Cheyenne Davenport and Payton Davenport, all of Clanton; her mother, Mary Reid of Selma; and her brother, John Patterson Jr. of Aberdeen, Wash.
Service was June 7 at Martin Funeral Home Chapel, the Revs. Doug Powell and Charles Brooks presiding. Burial followed in Martin Memorial Cemetery in Clanton, Martin Funeral Home directing.
Jimmy Wayne Dunaway

Jimmy Wayne Dunaway, 59, of Helena died June 4, 2004. He was employed by Southern Roofing Company. He was preceded in death by his parents, Syble and Lewis Dunaway; and two brothers, Harold and Aubry Dunaway.
He is survived by three sisters, Betty (Loyd) Smith, Pattie Sue (Grady) Davenport and Sally Allred; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.
Graveside service was June 6 at Pelham City Cemetery, Southern Heritage Funeral Home directing.
The family requests memorial donations be made to the Shelby County Humane Society.

Ida Lang, 82, of Chelsea died Sunday, June 6, 2004, at her home. She was born July 25, 1921, in Lawrence County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Buford Lang, and a son, Arnold Lee Lang.
She is survived by her children, Jean Reynolds of Vincent and Billy P. Lang, Hollis J. Lang, Jerry J. Lang and Shirley Isbell, all of Chelsea; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Lelton and Raymond Tanksley.
