Tommy H. Oglesby, 71, of Six Mile died April 5, 2004.

He is survived by one sister, Evelyn O. (Jimmy) Jenkins of Montevallo; special cousins, Kenneth and Erica Oglesby; two nieces, Karen J. (Tommy) Birkenfeld and Frankie J. (Kevin) Grice; nephew, Scott (Tina) Jenkins; two great-nephews, Tyler Birkenfeld and Wes Jenkins; great-niece, Molly Grice; and a host of other relatives.

Graveside service was April 7 at Ryans Cemetery in Maylene with the Rev. Bob Mahaffey presiding, Rockco's Funeral Home in Montevallo directing.

IVY HAZEL JOINER

Verbena resident

Ivy Hazel Joiner, 80, of Verbena died April 3, 2004.

She is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Charles) of Verbena; two grandsons, Kevin and Tim Edwards; one great-granddaughter, Kasey; and two sisters, Willodean Hall of Columbiana and Gladys Farr of Alabaster.

Service was April 5 at Bolton-Letlow Chapel in Columbiana with the Rev. Bill Tucker presiding. Burial followed in Columbiana City Cemetery, Bolton-Letlow Funeral Home directing.

OBUREA DYER JONES

Harpersville resident

Oburea Dyer Jones, 84, of Harpersville died March 28, 2004, at a local nursing home. She was born Feb. 21, 1920. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Jones; a son, Jim Denty; and a daughter, Marie McBrayer.

She is survived by many friends that she called her family.

Service was March 30 at Calvary Baptist Church, the Rev. Ferrell Moore presiding. Burial followed in Harpersville Cemetery, Bolton-Letlow Funeral Home directing.

MARTHA ALICE KNOWLES

Resident of Spring Creek community

Martha Alice Knowles, 77, of Montevallo died at home April 2, 2004, in Montevallo. Born in the Spring Creek community near Montevallo on June 4, 1926, she worked briefly at the Birmingham Water Works before returning to Spring Creek where she married and raised her family. She was a lifetime member of Spring Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church where she was active in the Women's Missionary Society and a Sunday schoolteacher until her health no longer allowed her to attend regularly. She was a longtime supporter of ARC and worked as a volunteer at the Opportunity Center in Birmingham, where her son was a student. Later, she worked at Gillis Pharmacy in Alabaster before resigning to care for her son until his death in 1995.

Her parents, Robert Douglas and Alice McLaughlin Ingram; and her son, Charles Douglas Knowles, preceded her in death.

She is survived by her daughters, Melissa K. (Alan) Nannini of Montevallo and Dr. Amy Jo (Dr. Lindsey) Roberts of Walnut Hill, Fla.; two granddaughters, Laura Leigh and Anna Lynn Nannini of Montevallo; and her brothers and sisters, Elizabeth Goad, Helen Driggers, Anne Hood, June Johnson, Robert Ingram and Jack Ingram.

Service was April 4 at Spring Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church, the Revs. Scott Fowler and Chuck Hood presiding. Burial followed in Spring Creek Cemetery, Rockco's Funeral Home directing.

SHARON K. LETLOW

Grandmother of three

Sharon K. Letlow, 46, of Vincent died March 28, 2004, in Biloxi, Miss. She was born Dec. 30, 1957, in Birmingham. She was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Lois Schrader; and her grandmother, Lillie Mae Norton.

She is survived by her husband of 11 years, Andy Letlow of Vincent; her children, Jenny (Craig) Freihage of Birmingham and Allen (Tiffany) Wolfe of Columbiana; three grandchildren, Jonathan, Emily and Cole; three sisters, Kelly Wilson, Diane Lovoy and Cindy Brasher; one brother, Steve Schrader of Texas; and her father, George Schrader of Shelby.

Service was April 1 at Maranath Church in Shelby, the Rev. Tommy Shelton presiding. Burial followed in Bay Springs Cemetery, Bolton-Letlow Funeral Home directing.

JEFFREY CALVIN ODGERS

Bethel Baptist member

Jeffrey Calvin Odgers, 40, of Columbiana died April 4, 2004. He was born Aug. 16, 1963, in Birmingham and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Amanda Odgers; two children, Jeffrey Robert Odgers and Hollie Amanda Odgers; his parents, Robert and Pat Odgers, all of Columbiana; his sisters, Debbe (Phillip) Key of Clanton and Donna (Bob) Adams of Destin, Fla.; his brothers, Joe (Cindy) Odgers and Robby (Jennifer) Odgers, all of Columbiana; and a host of nieces, nephews and many friends.

Service was April 6 at Bethel Baptist Church, the Rev. Allen Dennis presiding. Burial followed in Pinelawn Gardens, Bolton-Letlow Funeral Home directing.

Algie F. Davis Sr.

Columbiana resident

Algie F. Davis Sr., 83, of Columbiana died Friday, May 21, 2004, at a local hospital. He was born Feb. 27, 1921, in Shelby County. He was preceded in death by a son, Algie "Frank" Davis Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Earline W. Davis; his daughter, Vanessa D. (Charlie) Brown; his grandchildren, Dewayne Davis, Blaine Davis, Michelle Buzbee, Monica Clayton and Lance "Chris" Brown; eight great-grandchildren; and a brother, Albert J. Davis.

Service was May 22 at Cedar Grove Freewill Baptist Church, the Rev. Lee Bevins presiding. Burial followed in Columbiana City Cemetery, Bolton-Letlow Funeral Home directing.

Lee Roy Green Sr.

Father of nine

Lee Roy Green Sr., 61, of Columbiana died May 14, 2004.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Green; three children, Lee Roy Green Jr., David Green and Mark Green; six stepchildren; and other relatives.

Service was May 22 at Agape Apostolic Church, pastor Marlon Browder presiding. Burial followed in Wilsonville Cemetery, The Good Shepherd Funeral Home in Montevallo directing.

Grandville Douglas "GD" Jones

Store owner

Grandville Douglas "GD" Jones, 79, of Clanton died May 21, 2004, at Shelby Baptist Medical Center. He was born in Lauderdale County, Ala., to the late David Clinton and Dollie Jones. He was a store owner.

He is survived by his wife, Hazel Jones of Clanton; his son, Douglas C. Jones of Montevallo; two daughters, Marilyn Strickland of Clanton and Cathy Jones of Tumwater, Wash.; one granddaughter, Shellie Smith of Clanton; one grandson, Donald Strickland Jr. of Andalusia; one brother, Oliver Jones of Florence; and five great-grandchildren.

Service was May 23 at Martin Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Tony Smitherman presiding. Burial followed in Martin Memorial Cemetery in Clanton, Martin Funeral Home directing.

Kenneth David Jones

Electrician

Kenneth David Jones, 55, of Clanton died May 17, 2004, in Montevallo. He was an electrician for Alabama Power Company. He is the son of the late Elmer O. and Linnie Mae Jones.

He is survived by his companion, Betty Lucas of Montevallo; three sons, David W. Jones and Bryan O. Jones, both of Clanton, and Derrell Jones of Jemison; one sister, Sarah Catherine Cottrell of Clanton; two grandsons, Lloyd and Dawson Jones; and four granddaughters, Anna, Lillie, Emily and Lynell Jones.

Service was May 20 at Martin Funeral Home chapel, the Revs. Ray Smitherman and Michael Morris presiding. Burial was in Bay Springs Baptist Cemetery in Shelby, Martin Funeral Home directing.
