DANIEL A. ANKNEY

Daniel A. Ankney, 41, of Acme RD1, died Monday, Aug. 7, 2000, at home. He was born Nov. 1, 1958, in Greensburg, a son of Ray F. Ankney of Acme RD1 and the late Mary C. (Hutter) Ankney. He was employed as a truck driver for United Parcel Service in New Stanton, was a member of the Little Sewickley Sportsmen's Association and the NRA. In addition to his Father , he is survived by two sons , Luke Daniel and Elijah John Ankney; his sister, Carol S. Ankney of Buckhannon, W.Va.; his brother, Thomas R. Ankney of Mt. Pleasant RD6; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. There will be no visitation or viewing. Graveside services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in the St. Paul Reformed Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant Township, with the Rev. William E. Ordelt Jr. officiating. Arrangements by GAUT-BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., Pleasant Unity.

A. EUGENE BAKER

A. Eugene Baker, 71, of Dunbar, passed away Monday, Aug. 7, 2000, in the Uniontown Hospital. Friends will be received at the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 E. Green St., Connellsville, Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., where a blessing service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. in St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church of Dunbar with the Rev. Edward McCullough and the Rev. David Liberator as celebrants. Committal and interment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery. A parish rosary will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The family requests contributions to the St. Vincent DePaul Society of St. Aloysius Church, Dunbar.

RONALD E. BECKWITH

Ronald E. "Becky" Beckwith Jr., 77, of Jeannette, died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000, at home. He was born Sept. 5, 1922, in Jeannette, a son of the late Ronald E. Sr. and Eugenie Raviart Beckwith. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Fisher Body, Dravosburg. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, a member of the Jeannette American Legion Post 344 and the M&S Club of Jeannette. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Leora March; and a brother, Wilbur Beckwith. He is survived by his wife, Louise Fiume Beckwith; three daughters , Carol Ickes and Bill Scheibe of Bovard, Linda Beckwith at home and Diane "Dee" White and David Fody of Jeannette; two sons , Ronald G. Beckwith III and his wife, Cindy, of Irwin and James D. Beckwith of Greensburg RD1; eight grandchildren, Rhonda Logan and her husband, Kevin, Daniel Ickes and Ashley Kifer, Michele White , Melissa White , Chad Beckwith and his wife, Gina, Christy Beckwith and Jeff Chicklo, Justin Beckwith and Heather Beckwith; a great-granddaughter, Jada; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received in the MASON-GELDER FUNERAL HOME INC., 201 N. First St., Jeannette, Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Craig T. Hess officiating. Entombment will follow in Twin Valley Mausoleum. The Jeannette Combined Veterans will meet in the funeral home Wednesday at 8 p.m. to hold services.

MARY R. CANTELLA

Mary R. Cantella, 89, of Greensburg, died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2000, in the Westmoreland Manor, Hempfield Township. She was born March 3, 1911, in Jeannette, a daughter of the late Dominic and Josephine Salci D'Octavia. Mary had been a housekeeper at the former St. Paul Church Rectory in Greensburg's fifth ward for the Rev. Leo E. Sullivan and the Rev. Henry P. Dinicco. She was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral and the Women of the Moose, both in Greensburg, and the Italian Anita Garibaldi of Jeannette. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel J. Cantella, in 1979; brothers , Nick, Albert, Johnny and Tony; and a sister, Lucia "Betty" Champion. She is survived by her son, Jack R. Cantella; and a daughter-in-law, Barbara Cantella, both of Greensburg; a daughter, Charlotte J. Cantella of Seattle, Wash.; six grandchildren, Debra Cantella Frye, John Christopher Cantella, Amy Marie Cantella, Heidi Cantella Noel, David Pankowski and Jessica Pankowski Lowther; three great-grandchildren, Sara, Melissa and Jon Frye; two sisters , Rose Broker of Sandusky, Ohio, and Pauline Pallitta of Mt. Pleasant; and several nieces and nephews. There will be no public visitation. Relatives are invited to join the family Wednesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 516 Stanton at Green streets, Greensburg, where a blessing service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in the St. Clair Cemetery, Hempfield Township. Family suggests memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Association, 1011 Old Salem Road, Greensburg, PA 15601.

ALVIE L. CRAWFORD

Alvie L. Crawford, 89, of Homestead Avenue Extension, Scottdale, passed away early Monday morning, Aug. 7, 2000, in Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. Family and friends will be received at the ROBERT B. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 105 Spring St., Scottdale, (724-887-5300, email: rferg<\at>a1usa.net), Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with his pastor, the Rev. James Hepler, officiating. Chapel committal services and interment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Bullskin Township. Family suggests memorials to the Calvin United Presbyterian Church of Scottdale or the Scottdale Kiwanis Club.

AGNES R. CRESCENZO

Agnes R. Crescenzo, 80, of Jeannette, died Monday, Aug. 7, 2000, in Jeannette District Memorial Hospital. She was born June 7, 1920, in Harrison City, a daughter of the late Lubbis and Margory Thomas Kistler. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Crescenzo in 1986; a son, Raymond Crescenzo; three brothers , Charles, Louis and Edward Kistler; two sisters , Thelma Neiman and Zana Scott; and two grandchildren, Raymond and Andrew Crescenzo. She is survived by three sons , Jack and wife, Laura Lee Crescenzo, of Jeannette, David and wife, Margaret Crescenzo, of Tennessee, and Wayne and wife, Lorraine Crescenzo, of Calumet; a daughter, Marjorie and husband, Richard Jupena, of Jeannette; a brother, Robert and wife, Kate Kistler, of Conway; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the JAMES E. LINDSAY FUNERAL HOME INC., Main Street, Harrison City, Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Chris Livermore officiating. Interment will be private.

NANCY MARIE CLARK DODD

In God's providence, Nancy Marie "Nan" Clark Dodd, of Moore Street, Mt. Pleasant, entered into eternal life Sunday, Aug. 6, 2000, in her 51st year of life, at her residence. Nancy's family will receive friends in the FRANK KAPR FUNERAL HOME INC., 417 W. Pittsburgh St., Scottdale, Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home with her pastor, the Rev. Dr. Paul B. Morris, and the Rev. Doug Burns, pastor of Paradise Methodist Church, co-officiating. Interment will follow in Greenridge Memorial Park, Pennsville.

WILLIAM C. ELDER

William C. Elder, 73, of Greensburg, died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2000, in IHS of Greater Pittsburgh, Greensburg. He was born Dec. 31, 1926, in Hempfield Township, a son of the late Alfred H. and Edith Eicher Elder. He was a retired employee of the Elliott Co. in Jeannette and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. He had been a life member of the Midway-St. Clair Volunteer Fire Department, and a member of both the Westmoreland County Firemen's Association and the Western Pennsylvania Firemen's Association. Also he was a charter member of the Faymore Sportsmen's Club. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Harold Elder; and a sister, Sarah Alcorn. Surviving are his loving wife, D. Louise (Poole) Elder; children, Edith L. Mallin and husband, Leonard, of Mt. Pleasant, John W. Elder and wife, Bonnie, of Jeannette, Theodore J. Elder and wife, Joyce, of Maryland, Joseph P. Elder and wife, Sandy, of Greensburg and Barry R. Elder and wife, Mary, of Greensburg; brothers , Joseph A. Elder and wife, Hilda, of Greensburg, Edward D. Elder and wife, Betty, of Texas , and H. David Elder and wife, Lorraine, of Greensburg; sisters , Ruth Weis and husband, Thomas, of Greensburg, Laura Seevers and husband, Robert, of California, and Patricia Ahlborn of Youngwood. Also survived by 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Family and friends were received at the KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME INC., 524 N. Main St., Greensburg, from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Services will be held at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Trauger at 10:30 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Kurt Kusserow officiating. EVERYONE IS TO GO DIRECTLY TO CHURCH ON THURSDAY. Interment with full military honors by the South Greensburg American Legion will be held in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery. The family wishes memorial donations to the Midway-St. Clair Volunteer Fire Department. Members of the Midway-St. Clair Volunteer Fire Department will meet Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home for a memorial service. Terence L. Graft, funeral director, in charge of arrangements.

GEORGE R. FRYE

George R. "Bud" Frye, 81, of Penn Township, died Monday, Aug. 7, 2000, in UPMC Shadyside, Pittsburgh. He was born April 14, 1919, in Jeannette, a son of the late George U. and Emma A. Robinson Frye. He was a machinist for the Elliott Co. in Jeannette, and co-owner of Frye Enterprises and the Manor Valley Golf Course. He was a member of the Denmark Manor United Church of Christ. He was a World War II veteran, having served with the VMF 1055 as a Marine Fighter Pilot. He was a 50-year member of the Jeannette Masonic Lodge, the Tall Cedars of Lebanon, and the Shriners. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne H. Frye. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Elizabeth Greer Frye; two sons , George and wife, Janet Churchfield, of Phoenix, Ariz., and Jeffrey J. Frye of Export; two daughters , Brenda and husband, John Zambelli, of North Versailles, and Deborah Frye of Syracuse, N.Y.; a brother, Carl D. Frye of Penn Township; and six grandchildren, Shaina and Taisha Churchfield, Erik and Matthew Zambelli, Jessica and Joshua Frye. Friends were received at the JAMES E. LINDSAY FUNERAL HOME INC., Main Street, Harrison City, Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Joseph W. Kiewra officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Penn Township.

VERONICA OLGA (KONKOL) JANETKA

Veronica Olga (Konkol) Janetka, 76, of Saltsburg, died Monday, Aug. 7, 2000, in Harmon House, Mt. Pleasant. She was born Oct. 26, 1923, in Aultman, a daughter of the late Michael and Veronica (Solcik) Konkol. Veronica was a member of St. Sylvester's Catholic Church, Slickville, its Rosary Altar Society and choir, and was a C.C.D. teacher for the church. She was a member of the First Catholic Slovak Union. An avid Dodgers baseball fan, Veronica loved playing softball, working with her flowers and gardening. She also enjoyed canning and embroidering. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Janetka; four sisters , Susan Konkol, Jennie Seath, Ann Lipchick and Mary Bucko; and four brothers , Ralph, Andrew, George and John Konkol. She is survived by her loving children: a son, Paul Janetka and wife, Dolores, of Penn Hills; daughters , Patricia Hart and husband, Glenn, of Southwest and Mary Susan Tranchine and husband, James, of Export; a brother, Martin Konkol of Aultman; a sister, Pauline Stibrik of Pittsburgh; and a number of nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received at the VAIA FUNERAL HOME INC. AT TWIN VALLEY, 463 Athena Drive, Delmont, (724) 468-1177, beginning Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Veronica's Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. in St. Sylvester's Catholic Church, Slickville, with the Rev. Michael W. Matusak as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Kensington. The Rosary Altar Society of St. Sylvester's Church will recite the rosary Thursday at 8 p.m. in the funeral home. Kevin P. Altman, supervisor, in charge of arrangements.

ALFRED MARIAN

Alfred "Al" Marian, 93, of Greensburg, died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000, in the Greensburg Nursing and Convalescent Center. He was born March 28, 1907, in Jeannette, a son of the late Guy and Anna DeCellis Marian. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by the Port Authority of Allegheny County. Al was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral Church of Greensburg, the K. of C. Council #1222 of Jeannette, the St. Vincent Assembly 4th Degree and their Honor Guard, the F.O.E. #844 and the B.P.O.E. #486, both of Jeannette. Al was also an avid bowler. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Cecilia Leonard Marian, in 1985; a grandson, Charles E. Lizza III; a sister, Frances Marian; and a brother, Raymond Marian. He is survived by two daughters , Jo Anne Getto and husband, Michael, of Jeannette and Patricia Lizza of Latrobe; a brother, Edward Marian of Pittsburgh; two sisters , Angela Perry of Johnstown and Evalyn Stevenson of Jeannette; three grandsons, Michael Getto Jr., Alfred Lizza and Christopher Getto, M.D.; six great-grandchildren, Anthony, Christine, Katherine, Michael, Michelle and Maria; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the JOHN V. GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME INC., 228 N. Second St., Jeannette, beginning Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral. Entombment will follow in the Greensburg Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum, Hempfield Township. K. of C. Council #1222 will hold services Wednesday at 8 p.m. in the funeral home.

HELEN V. McFARLAND

Helen V. McFarland, 83, of Greensburg, died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000, in the Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. She was born July 16, 1917, in Greensburg, a daughter of the late Josiah and Goldie Carns McFarland. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed by the former Porcelier of Greensburg and later by the Westmoreland Regional Hospital. She was a member of the Greensburg Alliance Church where she had served as a Sunday school teacher for many years. Upon retiring, Helen found much joy and companionship with her many lady friends at the Greensburg Alliance Church. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Clara Sloan. She is survived by a brother, Charles E. McFarland of Greensburg; two sisters , Genevieve Mottin of Nanty Glo, Pa., and Betty Bower of Seattle, Wash.; and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the BARNHART FUNERAL HOME, 505 E. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg, Thursday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Wesley Myers officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Clair Cemetery. Should friends desire, memorials may be placed with the Greensburg Alliance Church, RD6, Greensburg, PA 15601.

GEORGE T. MURPHY

George T. Murphy, 54, of Mt. Pleasant RD, died in Latrobe Area Hospital, Monday, Aug. 7, 2000. He was born March 26, 1946, in Greensburg, a son of the late Walter and Anna Mary Patton Murphy. He was a member of the Free Methodist Church, Greensburg, and also the Construction and General Laborer's Union, Local 1451. He served with the U.S. Marine Corps and also in the Reserves. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Walter; and an infant son, Brian Thomas. Survived by his wife, Betty Fleming Murphy; a daughter, Denise Gaskill and husband, Jeff, of Blairsville; a son, Chris and fiancee, Julie Chance and her daughter and son, Emily and Jason; a grandson, Jeffrey Thomas Murphy; brothers and sisters , Arthur, Sally Mott and husband, Ted, of Taylor, Mich., Loretta Keller and husband, Bill, of Mt. Pleasant, Susan Camarote and husband, Jerry, of Delmont, John and wife, Noel, of Youngwood, and William and Jane of Latrobe; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends were received at the JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME, Norvelt, 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Prayer service will be held at 10:15 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, followed by funeral services at the Free Methodist Church, Toppers Road, Greensburg, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Paul Lesher and Pastor Byron T. Eisaman co-officiating. Interment will be in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont, with military rites accorded by the Armbrust Veteran's. Sandra L. Hoffer, funeral director.
