Laura Chadderton, 74, of Latonia, died at noon Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a retired clerk with Northern Kentucky Senior Citizens. Her husband, Charles William Chadderton II, preceded her in death.

Mary Eleanor Geiger Huelsman, 79, of Ft. Mitchell, died Monday at Christ Hospital, Cincinnati. She was a homemaker and a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, Ft. Mitchell. A daughter, Mary Ann Justice, died in 1997.
Survivors include her husband, Carl A. Mary Christine Northcutt, 54, of Hendersonville, Tenn., formerly of Dry Ridge, died Monday in a Hendersonville hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of Central Baptist Church in Hendersonville.

Eugene M. Slover, 68, of Walton, died Monday at Florence Park Care Center in Florence. He was a maintenance worker with Square D Electrical Co., Florence, and a member of American Legion Boone Post No. 4, Florence, and Boone Memorial VFW Post No. 6099, Union. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War.

Alice L. Stubbs, 89, of Alexandria, died Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Ft. Thomas. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Alexandria Church of Christ and the Claryville Homemakers. Her husband, Edward H. Stubbs, died in 1972.

Paul N. Thompson, 68, of Bellevue, died at 6:30 p.m. Monday at St. Luke Hospital East, Ft. Thomas. He was a retired security department employee of General Motors, Cincinnati, and a Navy veteran of the Korean War. His wife, Anne Thompson, died in 1992.

Paul Henry Twehues Sr., 84, of Silver Grove, died at 12:50 p.m. Tuesday at his residence. He was a retired communication technician for the C & O Railroad, and he was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a charter member of the Lawlor-Hanlon VFW Post No. 5662, Newport, and was a member of the PK club in Melbourne.

Katherine Sadie Seiter O'Brien Weingartner, 70, of Dry Ridge, died at 7:30 a.m. Monday at her home. She was a retired packer and night nurse with Kahns Meat Packing Co., Cincinnati, and a member of St. John the Evangelist Church and Kelly Furnish VFW Post No. 7099 Ladies Auxiliary, both in Covington. Her first husband, Edward A. O'Brien, died in 1969. Her second husband, Albert V. Weingartner, died in 1992.
Survivors include a son, Edward A. O'Brien Jr. of Dry Ridge; a daughter, Erin K. Altheria Wood, 83, of Germantown, died Monday at Vanceburg Rehabilitation Health Care Center. She was a homemaker, a retired farmer and a member of Bracken Christian Church in Bracken County. Her husband, Ernest Wood, died in 1958.
Survivors include sons, Billy Wood and Hank Wood, both of Maysville; daughters, Ileen Ward of Richmond, Ind., and Shirley McKinley of Lexington; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

POW Kenneth Kaffenberger, loving dad
Kenneth Frederick Kaffenberger Sr. survived being shot down over Romania in World War II and later landed a job as an engineer with the Ford Motor Co. in Cincinnati.
But he considered raising his family to be his greatest triumph. He often took his children fishing when he wasn't coaching Little League baseball, said a son, Dr. Douglas A. Kaffenberger of Louisville.
"He was a very loving, low-keyed individual. He had a passionate love for animals and was a good worker at Ford," Dr. Kaffenberger said.
"He was a dedicated person and a man for me to be proud of."
Mr. Kaffenberger, 76, of Cold Spring, died at 11:55 a.m. Wednesday at Lakeside Place Nursing Home in Highland Heights.
He was a retired engineer with Ford Motor Co. and a Southgate native who turned down numerous promotions because he didn't want to move his family from Northern Kentucky.
He also was an Army Air Corps pilot in World War II, stationed in Italy. He was shot down on a mission over some oil fields in Romania. He spent about eight weeks in a Bulgarian prison camp before being released to the Allies.
Mr. Kaffenberger flew on missions over southern France, Hungary and Romania before being captured.
Other survivors include his wife, Rita Revel Kaffenberger; another son, Kenneth F. Kaffenberger Jr. of Alexandriaa sister, Gladys Ford of Cincinnati; a brother, Pete Kaffenberger of Cold Spring; and two grandsons.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Ft. Thomas. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Alexandria Cemetery.
