Patricia M. DeRudder

June 6, 1932 - September 13, 1988
Patricia Mahin DeRudder, 56, R.1, Chalmers, died Tuesday, Sept 13, at 3:55 p.m. in St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center, Lafayette. She had been a patient there since Sunday and was in failing health for several years. Mrs. DeRudder was manager of the family farm at R.1, Chalmers and formerly taught elementary school. She born June 6, 1932 in Lafayette and graduated from Chalmers High School in 1950. She received her bachelor's degree in elementary education at Indiana University. She attended Chalmers Community Church; was a life member of Purdue and IU alumni associations; a member of the American Legion Auxiliary; Alpha Omicron Phi at IU and Kappa Kappa Sigma Sorority in Chalmers. She was active in the Republican party and was a Home Hospital volunteer.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Erin) Anliker, R.1, Reynolds; and one son, Eric DeRudder, R.2, Brookston. Two grandsons also survive. A sister, Dorothy, preceded in death.

Service will be at Chalmers Community Church at 7:30 p.m. Thursday with the Rev Loren Shuman officiating. Cremation will follow. Prior to the service the family will receive friends for one hour. Memorials to Chalmers Community Church or charity of donor's cboice. Hartzler Funeral Home in Brookston, was in charge.

Robert J. Deweese

November 8,1915 - April 25, 1991
Robert J. Deweese, Brookston, died Saturday, Apr. 25, at 10:45 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette, where he been admitted, Friday. He was born Nov. 8, 1915 to Joseph and Flora Robertson Deweese, in Brookston. He was married July 8, 1943, to Maxine Turner, in Lafayette. She survives. He graduated in 1933, from Brookston High School and attended Kankakee Business College. During World War II, he served in the Navy. In 1976, he moved to Florida and five years ago returned to Brookston. He retired in 1975, from TRW in Lafayette, where he was employed for 35 years. He was a member of the Elks Lodge No. 2387 in Cocoa Beach, Florida.

Surviving with his wife and daughter, Mrs. Norm (Cheryl) Sanders, Coral Springs, Fl.; one son, Randy, Crown Point; and four grandchildren. One brother is deceased.

The funeral was Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, the Rev. Carl Malmgren officiating.

Margaret M. Utley Dieterle

May 14, 1899 - November 28, 1993
Margaret M. Utley Dieterle, 94, Brookston, died Sunday morning, November 28, at Tioga Pines Living Center where she had resided since July 30th. She was born May 14, 1899 in Prairie Township in White County to Samuel and Mary Youst Utley. She married Fred A. Dieterle on July 16, 1918 in Lafayette. He died January 25, 1959. She graduated from the Brookston Academy in 1918 and was a member of the Brookston Federated Church.

Surviving are two sons, Roger and Carroll "Skip" of Brookston; a daughter, Mrs. Dorotha Dupin of Chalmers; four step-grandchildren and 10 step-great-grandchildren. Two brothers and five sisters are deceased.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at Hartzler Funeral Home in Brookston, the Rev. Lelan McReynolds officiated. Burial was in IOOF Cemetery in Brookston. Memorials can be made to the Brookston Federated Church.

Ernest Dillman

October 20, 1906 - April 3, 2000
Ernest R Dillman, 93, of Winamac died Monday, April 3, 2000 at his home. He was born October 20, 1906 in Urbana, IL the son of Daniel and Belle Kirby Dillman. His marriage was to Gertrude E. Luttrell on May 17, 1934 in Danville, IL. She died December 4, 1993. Mr. Dillman was a retired dairy farmer and milk hauler for 50 years, hauling milk to Dean's Foods. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Winamac. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and being with his family, and remained active throughout his 93 years. He had lived in Winamac since 1955, coming from Logansport.

Survivors include a daughter Sandra (Bill) Goble, Winamac and a son Richard (Patty) Dillman of Monon. He had 16 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, 3 sisters, 3 brothers, 2 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at the Frain Mortuary in Winamac on Thursday, April 6, 2000 at 11:00 a m with William Mathys officiating. Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. Wednesday and after 8 a.m. on Thursday at Frain Mortuary. Burial will be in McKinley Memorial Gardens, Winamac. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church,

Frances L. 'Fan' Dilts

April 22, 1890 - April 14, 1992
Frances L. "Fan" Steely Dilts, 101, formerly of Brookston, died Tuesday, April 14, at Heritage Healthcare, West Lafayette. She had lived there since December 1988. She was born April 22, 1890, to Edmund and Sarah Alkire Steely, in Round Grove Township. She was married Jan. 8, 1913, to Asher Dilts, who died in March 1957. She graduated in 1910, from Otterbein High School. She moved in 1926, to Brookston. She and her husband owned and operated the Royal Blue Grocery in Brookston, for 10 years. She was a member of Brookston United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She is an honorary retired member of Psi Iota Xi Sorority, Psi Chapter of Brookston, and was also a member of the Art Club and Brookston American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Mary Grace, Brookston, two granddaughters and four great grandchildren. Two sons, four brothers and three sisters are deceased.

The funeral will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. in Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston. Friends may call today from 5-8 p.m. Burial will be in Pond Grove Cemetery, Otterbein. Memorials may be made to the Brookston United Methodist Church.

James V. Donadio

1905 - August 7, 1998
James V. Donadio, senior partner of the law firm Ice Miller Donadio & Ryan and practicing lawyer for more than 70 years, died August 7. Highly respected and widely admired by the Indiana legal profession, Mr. Donadio began his legal career in 1927 and in 1937, joined Matson Ross McCord & Clifford, the predecessor of Ice Miller Donadio & Ryan. In a short time, he became the leading partner of the firm's litigation practice. During his tenure, the firm has grown from less than 10 attorneys to its current position as Indianapolis' largest law firm and one of the largest in Indiana, with approximately 200 attorneys. He developed a national reputation in the defense of medical malpractice claims and over the years his statewide litigation practice led to his court appearance in each of Indiana's 92 counties and resulted in his being one of the best-known lawyers in Indiana. Mr Donadio was born in Branford, Connecticut in 1905. He could not afford a formal college education, so he attended and graduated from the predecessor of Indiana University Law School in Indianapolis with an LL.B. in 1928. He was the youngest son in a family of nine. His pride in his Italian heritage, his love of and devotion to Church and family and his extraordinary work ethic were inherited from his family.

He was married to the late Bonita M. Donadio for 62 years and is survived by his children, James V. Donadio, Jr. M.D. of Rochester, Minnesota and Virginia E. Donadio Boberschmidt of Indianapolis, his sister, Virginia E. Donadio, eight grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Services were in St. Luke Catholic Church, Indianapolis, Tuesday, August 11 at 11a.m.

Audria Mae Blevins Dorsett

August 26, 1927 - July 28, 1991
Audria Mae Blevins Dorsett, 63, Rt. 1, Brookston died Sunday, July 28, at 12:01 a.m. at her residence. She had been in failing health for 1½ years. She was born Aug. 26, 1927, to Bob Blevins and Melbia Mundy, in Huron. She was married Nov. 17, 1945, to Jack Dorsett, in Indianapolis. He survives. In July 1969, she retired from Harmon Motive, Martinsville. She moved to Brookston from Brown County, two years ago.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Connie) Leader Jr., Rt. 1, Brookston; two brothers, Renzo Mundy, Bloomfield and Jahue Mundy, Vinton, Va.; and wo grandchildren. Two brothers are deceased.

Cremation is scheduled. No funeral service, visitation or burial was planned. Memorials can be made to Brown Co. Humane Society, Nashville, Ind. 47448.

Mae Cook Driscol

July 27, 1908 - November 28, 1988
Mae Cook Driscol, 83, formerly of 1934N and 400E, Lafayette, died Nov. 28, in Collegedale, Tenn., vhere she lived for the last five years. She was born on July 27, 1908, to William and Mary Kidder Cook, in Buckley, Mich. She was married Jan. 10, 1930, to Morris Driscol, in Lafayette. He died June 7, 1982. She was a registered nurse at Home Hospital, St Elizabeth Hospital, Veterans Administration Soldiers Home and Wabash Valley Hospital, all in Lafayette. She also was a private duty nurse. She was a member of the Standifur Gap Seventh Day Adventist Church at Collegedale, Tenn.

Surviving are two sons, Dale, Columbus and Roy; Ooltewak, Tenn.; three brothers, Lee Cook, Avon Park. Fla., Ed and Clifford Cook, both of Cedar Lake, Mich.; one sister, Mrs Rose Brace Bridge Traverse City, Mich.; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren. Three sisters and one son are deceased.

Service was Friday at 2 p.m. in the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 3550 Soldiers Home Road, West Lafayette, with Pastor Donald Short officiating. Friends may call from 5-9 p.m. today at Hartzler Funeral Home in Brookston. Burial will be in Hebron Cemetery, West Lafayette. Memorial contributions made to Quiet Hour.

Oscar David Martinez

June 8, 1973 - June 27, 1999
Oscar David Martinez, 29, Monticello died Sunday, June 27, 1999 at Home Hospital in Lafayette.

He was born June 8, 1973 in Mission Texas, the son of David and Margarita Mendez Martinez.

Oscar had lived most of his life in White County and received his GED while living within the county. He was a welder by trade, working at the former Monon Corp. and then with HPA Monon. He was currently working as a welder at Cives Steel just east of Wolcott.

Oscar enjoyed spending time with his twin daughters and fishing when time permitted.

Surviving besides his mother are his step-father Fred Firkin of Monon; daughters Kylie and Angela Martinez of Monon, two brothers. George Mendez and Eddie Mendez both of Monon, a sister Yvonne Martinez of Monticello, his maternal grandparents Pedra and. Albina Mendez of Mission. TX. Paternal grandmother, Lupe Martinez of Tampes. Mexico, paternal stepmother. Maxine Firkin of Monon, an uncle Danny Mendez of Monon, his ex-wife Sonya Martinez of Buffalo and one niece, Jordon Martinez, of Monticello.

He was preceded in death by his father, David Martinez.

The funeral will take place at the Bedford Cemetery on Thursday, July 1 at 2.00 p.m., with Brian Huber as the officiating clergy. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the cemetery. Miller-Roscka Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

T. Delbert Dickey

May 27, 1927 - June 30, 1994
T. Delbert Dickey, 67, Rt. 2 Brookston, died Thursday, June 30, at St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center, Lafayette. where he had been a patient since June 25. He was bron in Kokomo on May 27, 1927 to Cyril E, and Naomi Marie Gillespie Dickey and his father lives in Tallahassee, FL. He married Bonnie Kay Cobbs in Americus on November 26, 1985. She survives. He was an operation engineer for Fauber Construction for 40 years, retiring in October 1989. He attended school is Forrest. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post No. 75, Operating Engineers Local 103 in Kokomo for 42 years and the Moose Lodge in Cape Coral, FL.

Surviving with his wife and father are one son, Delbert C. Dickey Jr. of Lafayette; one daughter Donna M. Kibbe of Fort Myers, FL; two stepsons John D. and Bill L. Disinger, both of Lafayette, four stepdaughters, Terry Moss and Tammy Gray, both of Lafayette, Debra Dillon of Camden and Penny Walker of Matlacha, one brother, Carl Bufford Dickey of Ottawa, OH; one sister Geraldine Edwards of Tallahassee, FL; and 12 step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandson.

The funeral was Sunday, July 3, at Horn Funeral Home, Delphi, the Rev. Gary Miller officiated. Burial was in Battle Ground Cemetery.

John F. Garrott

April 27, 1926 - June 5, 2000
John Floyd Garrott, 84, of Lafayette, a lifetime resident of Battle Ground, died Monday, June 5, 2000 at Rosewalk Village, Lafayette. He had been ill for two y ears and a resident at the center for two weeks.

He was born in Ash Grove on April 27, 1926 to I. Floyd and Edith Baker Garrott. He married Patience Wolcott in Rolling Prairie on December 7, 1941. She survives.

He was a 1934 graduate of Battle Ground High School and a 1938 graduate of Purdue University where he was a member of Ceres and Alpha Zeta honoraries.

He retired in 1986 as president of Farmers State Bank in Brookston after 41 years of service. He retired off the Bank Board in 1999. He was Tippecanoe County surveyor from 1970-74.

He owned Garrott Grain Company of Ash Grove from 1945-76. He was farm manager of family farms and director emeritus of The Farmers State Bank. He was a lifetime member of the Battle Ground United Methodist Church.

He was a 62-year member of Battle Ground F&AM 313; a member and Past Worthy Patron of Battle Ground Order of Eastern Star; and a member of the Purdue Alumni Association and John Purdue Club.

He is survived by his wife; sons Dr. John W. Garrott of Kittanning, PA, and Floyd H. Garrott (Patty) of Battle Ground; daughters Alice L. Garrott of New York City and Jeanne G (Terry) Adams of Shrewsbury, N.J.; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

A brother Glen, and a sister Alice Gentry are deceased.

Funeral services were Friday, June 9th at Battle Ground United Methodist Church with Rev. Tammy Mills officiating. Hartzler Funeral Home was in charge of services.

Burial was in Battle Ground Cemetery.

Anna Lou Abbott

6/21/30-2/10/01
Anna Lou Abbott, 70, of Norway, died Saturday, February 10, 2001, at her residence. She had been in failing health for the last several months. She was born June 21, 1930 in Campbellsville, KY, to William and Virginia Scott Franklin. She married Lyle Abbott on November 4, 1950 in Kentland. He survives. She worked at the former Chemtron plant in Monticello for 12 years. at Bryan Manufacturing and at RCA in Monticello for 10 years before it closed.

Surviving with her husband are two sons, Randy Abbott of Norway and Bill (Betty) Abbott of Monticello; three daughters, Loleta (Dale) Northcutt of Rensselaer, Teresa (Darrel) Hufford of Buffalo, and Angelita (Michael) Neal of Monticello; a brother Gene (Linda) Franklin of Monon; a sister, Joyce (Wayne) Dudd of Rockfieid; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Services were on Tuesday at Miller-Roscka Funeral Home in Monticello with Pastor Don Bixby officiating. Burial was in Hughes Cemetery, South of Buffalo.

Memorials may be made to Clarion Home Healthcare in Indianapolis.

Bette Jane Abigt

6/7/21 to 5/1/91

Betty Jane Abigt, 69, of Speedway, Indiana died unexpectedly early Wednesday morning at the home of her daughter Nance S. Harvey in Monon.

She was born June 7, 1921 in Indianapolis, the daughter of Evan and Estelle Canada Inman and had lived in Indianapolis all her life.

She is survived by her daughter, Nance S. Harvey of Monon and three grandchildren; Barbara J. Weathers, Battle Ground; Stephen W. Harvey, Monon and Robert Harvey of Lafayette. Four great- grandchildren also survive.

Friends may call at the Conkle Funeral Home - Speedway Chapel from 4:00 to 6:00 Friday. There will be a memorial service at 6:00 p.m. with Rev. Edward Roberts officiating.

Memorials may be made to Monon First Response.
