DECATUR -- Evelyn L. Goodwin Ballinger, 80, of Decatur died 3:48 a.m. Thursday (March 20, 2003) in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Services will be 2:30 p.m. Monday in Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes, with visitation one hour before services. Burial will be in Point Pleasant Cemetery, Long Creek. Memorials: Shriner's Hospitals for Children.
Evelyn was born Aug. 1, 1922, in Cheyenne, Wyo., the daughter of Clyde and Evelyn Hill Goodwin. She previously worked at Home Manufacturing on Eldorado Street, SS Kresge's and General Electric. She was a great cook and especially known for her pies. She also enjoyed gardening. She married John L. Ballinger Sr. in 1946 in Decatur. He preceded her in death Nov. 12, 2001.
Surviving are her sons, Dennis D. Ballinger Sr. and wife Cathy of Decatur; John L. Ballinger Jr. and wife Wendie of Oreana; grandchildren, Jeffrey and Mark Ballinger; Dennis Ballinger Jr. and fiancee Jennifer Stubblefield; Mike Ballinger and wife Molly; brothers, Leslie, Russell and Wayne Goodwin, all of Mount Zion.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Mary Bartello; infant brother, Billy.
She was a devoted mother and grandmother.

DECATUR -- Norma Jean Hartman, 70, of Decatur died Thursday (March 20, 2003).

Norma was born March 22, 1932, in Decatur, the daughter of Charles W. and Bertha Mae Owens Shafer. She was a housewife. She married Herman Hartman in October 1957. He preceded her in death Jan. 5, 1982.
Surviving are her daughters, Vicky Cole, Patty Brant, Judy Rutherford (Tom) and Bertha Baker, all of Decatur; brothers, Jack Shafer (Mary) of Wapella; Dale Shafer (Betty) of Mount Vernon, Ohio; sister, Mary Beck (Gene) of Decatur; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Karen Olsen; two grandsons; four brothers; and one sister.

Houseworth
DECATUR -- Henry H. Houseworth, 95, of Decatur died 7:50 a.m. Thursday (March 20, 2003) in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Monday in Macon County Memorial Park, Harristown. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes is in charge of arrangements.
Henry was born Aug. 16, 1907, in Mason City, the son of John and Augusta Martens Houseworth. He was a retired electrician from IBEW Local 51 in Springfield. He married Rose Marie Pawinski on Dec. 5, 1930, in Oak Park. She preceded him in death Nov. 13, 1999.
Surviving are his son, John Houseworth and wife Ruta of Decatur; daughter, Rosemarie Webber and husband Donald of Schererville, Ind.; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

MAROA -- Charlotte Hursh McGuire, 89, of Maroa died 8:40 p.m. Thursday (March 20, 2003) in Fair Havens Christian Home.
Services will be 3 p.m. Sunday in Calvert Funeral Home, Maroa, with Pastor Bruce Jacobs officiating. Visitation will be two hours before services. Burial will be in Illini Cemetery, Warrensburg. Memorials: Alzheimer's Association or Maroa Public Library.
Mrs. McGuire was born Oct. 17, 1913, in Hudson, Iowa, the daughter of Harry Cole "Happy" Hursh and Ruth Faith. She attended Maroa United Methodist Church. She was a retired schoolteacher, with 31 years of service in Macon County. She was a graduate of University of Illinois. She married William Alfred McGuire on Sept. 14, 1940, in Maroa. He preceded her in death June 13, 1997.
Surviving are her daughters, Susan (Haruo) Kusama of St. Louis, Mo.; Melanie McGuire of Amarillo, Texas; son, Bill (Carol) McGuire of Maroa; grandchildren, Karyn Kusama, Kristen Kusama, Allen McGuire and Maren McGuire; nephew, Dan Hursh of Decatur.
She was preceded in death by her grandson, Kevin Kusama; one brother; one sister.
