Wade H. 'Hamp' Neill Sr.
Dec. 16, 1915 - June 20, 2000

Wade H. "Hamp" Neill Sr. of Louisville died Tuesday, June 20, 2000, at Balfour Retirement Community in Louisville. He was 84.
He was born Dec. 16, 1915, in Goshen, Mo., to Jessie Vernon Neill and Lucy Jones Neill. He married Helen Conn in 1936 in Tipton, Mo. They divorced, and she died on Jan. 17, 2000. He married Betty Jo Bostor in 1973. She died in 1990.

Mr. Neill moved to Louisville in 1999 from Lakewood.

He graduated from Princeton High School in Princeton, Mo. He later taught and drove a bus for the school. He owned and operated the Neill Grocery in Princeton.

He was a member of the U.S. Crop Corps during World War II. In Colorado, he worked for several grocery chains and was a member of the Retail Clerks Union, Local 7, until his retirement in 1981 from King Soopers in Denver.

He was a past master of Mercer Masonic Lodge No. 35 AF&AM in Princeton, Mo. He was a York Rite and Scottish Rite Mason, a past patron with his wife of the Order of Eastern Star in Princeton and a member of the Shrine in Trenton, Mo. He was a charter member of the Princeton Lions Club, a member of Ashnar Kuh Grotto in Trenton and a member of Odd Fellows.

Survivors include a daughter, Connie Sporn of Louisville; three brothers, J. Vernon Neill of Ness City, Kan., Robert B. Neill of Kansas City, Mo., and John W. Neill of Oceanside, Calif.; a sister, Catherine Mason of Colorado Springs; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Wade H. Neill Jr., three brothers, and a sister.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Masonic Lodge of Boulder, 2205 Broadway, and from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at the Community of Grace Church, 4343 South Flander St., Aurora.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Community of Grace Church, with the Rev. Mike Story officiating. Services will conclude at Fairmount Cemetery, 430 S. Quebec, Denver, with services conducted by Masonic Memorial Lodge No. 1 AF&AM.

Contributions may be made to the Hospice of Boulder County, 2825 Marine St., Boulder, CO 80303.

Louis Guilmot Jr.
Nov. 21, 1918 - June 21, 2000

Louis Guilmot Jr. of Louisville died Wednesday, June 21, 2000, in Denver. He was 81.
The son of Louis Guilmot and Laura Guilmot, he was born Nov. 21, 1918, in Aguilar, Colo. He married Emilie Prochaska. She preceded him in death.

Mr. Guilmot worked for EB Construction, was a miner for about 10 years, was a farmer and worked in maintenance for the Louisville Parks and Recreation Department.

He was a member of the Tri-County Elks in Louisville and the Louisville Rod & Gun Club.

Survivors include a son, Donald Guilmot of Westminster.

He was preceded in death by a brother.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Darrell Howe Chapel, 1701 W. South Boulder Road in Lafayette.

Kenneth E. Kieffer
Feb. 9, 1933 - June 22, 2000

Kenneth E. Kieffer of Firestone, formerly of Boulder and Longmont, died Thursday, June 22, 2000, at his home. He was 67.
He was born Feb. 9, 1933, in Granite Falls, Minn., the son of Otto R. Kieffer and Blanche Wattowa Kieffer. He married Gail Erie on Nov. 11, 1955, in Granite Falls.

Mr. Kieffer moved to Boulder from California in 1963 and later moved to Longmont, where he was a computer operator for the Federal Aviation Administration. He retired in 1990.

He moved to Firestone in 1989 and served on the Planning Commission there. He was an avid gardener.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Paul Kieffer of Firestone and Kevin Kieffer of Longmont; two daughters, Linda Kieffer-Peterson of Kent, Wash., and Terry Kieffer-Coulimore of Berthoud; two sisters, Shirley Ruud of Farmington, N.M., and Fran Lofquist of Spring Valley, Nev.; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild expected in October.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter and a sister, Mary Ann Kieffer.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Howe Mortuary Chapel, 439 Coffman St., Longmont, with the Rev. Bill Lee of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association in care of Howe Mortuary, 439 Coffman St., Longmont, CO 80501.

Jesse Bruce Lindeke
Dec. 2, 1981 - June 21, 2000

Jesse Bruce Lindeke of Boulder died Wednesday, June 21, 2000, in rural San Bernardino County, California. The cause of death is pending a coroner's report. He was 18.
He was born Dec. 2, 1981, in Boulder to Bruce F. Lindeke and Wendy A. Charles Lindeke.

Mr. Lindeke was a senior at Fairview High School in Boulder and a part-time employee of Bolind Inc., his family's business.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Boulder. He was a Life Scout in the Boy Scouts and was in the drum line of the Fairview High band. He enjoyed backpacking, camping and golf.

Survivors include his mother of Broomfield; his father of Boulder; his companion, Jill Troschinetz; a brother, Alexander J. Lindeke of Boulder; four sisters, Kira Newsom of Oahu, Hawaii, and Nina K. Lindeke, Grace C. Lindeke and Amanda J. Lindeke, all of Boulder; his maternal grandmother, Nelda Charles of Broken Arrow, Okla; and his paternal grandmother and step-grandfather, Kay and Marty Lukoske of Boulder.

Visitation will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church, 1820 15th Street, Boulder.

Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Peter Barnes officiating.

Contributions may be made to Boy Scouts of America, in care of the Farr Service Center, P.O. Box 1166, Greeley, CO 80632, or the First Presbyterian Church Youth Fund, 1820 15th St., Boulder, CO 80302.

Lee Forsyth
July 8, 1911 - June 28, 2000

Lee Forsyth of Niwot died Wednesday, June 28, 2000, at Longmont United Hospital. He was 88.

He was born July 8, 1911, in Longmont, to James Forsyth and Veneda Dean Forsyth. He married Alberta Knaus on Jan. 5, 1934, in Denver. She preceded him in death.

Mr. Forsyth was a farmer, a foreman at Great Western Sugar Co. in Longmont and a superintendent of North Boulder Farmers Ditch and Left Hand Ditch. He was president of Holland Ditch, Left Hand Grange and a past member of Niwot Odd Fellows. He played the drums, was a Boy Scout Leader and was the Parade Grand Marshall for Niwot Nostalgia Days, 1999.

Survivors include two sons, Albert Forsyth of Longmont, and Stephen J. Forsyth; a daughter, Judi Springsteel of Longmont; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, W. Dean Forsyth and Robert N. Forsyth; and a sister, Irma Hervey.

Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Saturday; and from 1-6 p.m. Sunday at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, 326 Terry St., Longmont. Funeral services will be Monday at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, 326 Terry St., Longmont, with the Rev. Donald Grooters of the Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in the Longmont Mountain View Cemetery.

Rachel Lynn Godfrey
July 25, 1990 - June 27, 2000

Rachel Lynn Godfrey of Lafayette died Tuesday, June 27, 2000, at Children's Hospital in Denver. She was 9.

She was born July 25, 1990, in Boulder, to Kenneth E. Godfrey and Patricia A. Tanaka Godfrey.

She attended Heatherwood Elementary School and would have been in fifth grade this fall. She was active in Hot Shots Choir and Girl Scouts Troop 1115, from which she was a top cookie seller for the last three years. She appeared in November 1999 on Richard Simmons' Dream Makers television program.

She enjoyed collecting Beanie Babies, art and craft creations, reading books and visiting friends at annual Sunshine Foundation reunions.

Survivors include her parents of Lafayette and her maternal grandparents, Yosh and Yuri Tanaka of Chicago.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Darrell Howe Chapel, 1701 W. South Boulder Road, Lafayette.

Contributions may be made to the Rachel Godfrey Memorial Fund, c/o Wells Fargo Bank, Attn. Jody Williams, P.O. Box 227, Boulder, CO 80303-9980. The fund will be split between the Sunshine Foundation and the Progeria Research Foundation.

Elizabeth Rae Long Hall
July 7, 1910 - June 16, 2000

Elizabeth Rae Long Hall of Boulder died Friday, June 16, 2000, in Kingston, Tenn. She was 89.

She was born July 7, 1910, in Swink, Colo., to Tennessee Lavinia Ferguson Long and Lewis Long. She married John Ernest Hall in 1928, in Denver. He died in 1989.

Mrs. Hall taught in elementary school and also taught English to Turkish Air Traffic Controllers under Georgetown University Extension Program in Ankara. She graduated from Colorado State Teacher's College in 1928.

She belonged to the Science of Mind Church, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and Women's Clubs of America. She enjoyed singing opera music and had performed with the opera chorus of the Metropolitan Company in its summer program at Central City. She had traveled through India, Turkey, Brazil, Egypt and the U.S.

Survivors include two sons, Jon Lewis Hall of Boulder, and Lawrence Ray Hall of Boulder; and a daughter, Gaylynne Der-Houssikian of Gainsville, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Gay Alta Long; and a brother, Lewis Rex Long.

Services were held. Cremation took place. Burial was in Green Mountain Cemetery of Boulder. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1250 S. Hover Road, Suite F2, Longmont CO 80501.

Helen Johnson
Aug. 30, 1916 - June 28, 2000

Helen Johnson of Longmont died Wednesday, June 28, 2000, at the Hospice of Boulder County. She was 83.

Born on Aug. 30, 1916, in Gilmore Mills in Rockbridge County, Va., she was the daughter of Samuel Thompson and Fayetta Brown. She married Thomas L. Hostetter in 1930. He died. She married Herb Johnson.

She spent most of her childhood in Lexington, Va. She moved to Milford, New Hampshire, and worked in the Hester Union Defense plant during World War II, where she built propellers for Navy planes. She moved to Longmont in 1945.

Mrs. Johnson and her husband owned and operated "Herb's Trading Post," a motorcycle and used furniture store in Longmont, from 1945-1959. She then moved to Boulder and ran "Herb's Trading Post" as a tool business until 1986, when she retired to Loveland. She and her husband recently moved back to Longmont.

She loved animals and enjoyed camping and fishing.

Survivors include her husband of Longmont; a daughter, Janet Rider of Longmont; three sisters, Elsie Frost of Townsend, Mass., Carrie Morrow of Richmond, Va., and Henrietta Labby of New Britain, Conn.; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. today at Howe Mortuary, 439 Coffman, Longmont.

Contributions may be made to Hospice of Boulder County, 1855 Plaza Drive, Louisville, CO 80027.

Ruth Linnette Bowman Reeves
Oct. 23, 1906 - July 19, 2000

Ruth Linnette Bowman Reeves of Columbia, S.C., formerly of Lafayette, died June 19, 2000. She was 93.

She was born in Topeka, Kan., on Oct. 23, 1906, the daughter of Lincoln Bowman and Amanda Lux Bowman. She married Orval F. Reeves on July 21, 1931, in Manhattan, Kan. He died in 1994.

She was a high school teacher in Woodston, Kan., and a homemaker and community volunteer.

She lived in Lafayette from the early 1970s until 1988, when she moved to Columbia. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Lafayette, the Dorcus Circle, UMW, Botanic Club, Women's Study Club and the Senior Center.

Survivors include two daughters, Kathryn Mae Brewer of Arroyo Grande, Calif., and Dorothy Davis of Columbia; two grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and three great-stepgrandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Lafayette Cemetery, with lunch afterward at the First United Methodist Church of Lafayette.

Contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church of Lafayette.

Darrell Howe Mortuary is handling arrangements.
